    Mine simply don't work.

    • Written by Kalyn A from Princeton

Writing a negative review for an Apple product seems like shouting into a void, but I guess I'm writing this in hopes that this design may evolve and improve based on customer feedback. My headphones glitch constantly, pressing pause, skipping songs, hanging up on people, so badly that I can't use them. I spoke to a lovely customer service rep about this, but unfortunately the only solution the company has in place is for me to go the Apple store to run tests to find out what's going on with my headphones (or if it's an issue with the recent screen replacement I had). Having just spent an entire afternoon (3-7) at the Grand Central location two weeks ago, I'm not sure when I'll be able to fit this into my schedule again.

Apple, please improve this design, come up with a better way to handle replacements in these instances, or make these headphones cheaper! $30 is too much to be constantly shelling out for something that breaks or malfunctions all the time.

    They Do Not Last

    • Written by michalette H from Atlanta

I received a pair with the purchase of my iPhone 7 and they went out one side at a time. I bought a pair and at $30 they did the exact same thing in less than three months. I have no problem with buying Apple products but please don't make them unnecessarily difficult to work with.

I honestly wish I could rate these 0 stars

    • Written by Mariah M from Los Angeles

If you live in a place that's NOT Los Angeles, like Santa Cruz for example, you might as well not listen to music through earpods ever again. Nothing connects. Seriously. Nothing. I have gotten more stressed out trying to listen to music when music is supposed to be something that relaxes you. At this point I want to hang myself with these lightning earpods JUST so that I can get an actual use out of them. Because they are BRAND NEW. And I've only used them 3 times over the course of 2 weeks because it never connects.

    Don't Buy. Not worth it.

    • Written by Max L from Fenton

My earbuds came with my new iPhone 8, bought 4 months ago from Verizon, took incredible care of the earbuds, and now I am four months since first using them and the entire right earbud has stopped working.

I wouldn't buy another pair of them, especially for the, already ridiculous price point, $30.

    Don't bother.

    Terrible don't buy

    • Written by Michael B from New York city

Broke after 6 months, and this was the third time I've bought them.

Terrible customer service (waiting on the phone right now for 10 minutes with annoying music playing). Just buy other headphones.

My earphones are in perfect condition, they look totally well cared for but out of no where the left side ear stops working. Only lasted 9 months.

    Constantly breaks

    • Written by Ford P from Los Angeles

I have gone through at least 5 of these earbuds since getting the iPhone 7. They break every month or so and even after getting a brand new pair they skip songs and turn on Siri when I dont intend to. After a couple of weeks they will pause music and then randomly start playing until they completely break and will become unusable. I don't know why they constantly break but Apple needs to figure something out!

Second broken pair in just four months!

    • Written by Leone C from Melbourne

As many other users noticed, these headphones become unusable after just a couple of months. Just sent in my second pair in for replacement. Randomly stopping-starting-skipping music and phone calls as the cord moves. Controls behave erratically. Microphone unusable half of the time.

I have been an Apple user since the 90s, and now I am very disappointed! At the iPhone price tag some serious quality control of all accessories is expected!

    5 pairs later

    • Written by Charles M from Camden

    Angry human internet post #37642-5885

Sound great before the intentional shelf life expires. Each time one side has suddenly stopped working.

I once owned a 3.5mm pair for three years before I had to replace.

I’m now on my 5th pair of lightning connector earbuds within two years. (6 months of that I didn’t have headphones as I was exasperated)

I don’t treat my headphones badly. In fact I became more cautious after each fail.

This latest fail I was watching a video and heard the left side weaken then cut out completely. There was no rough use or stress on the connector...

Reading the reviews here it’s clearly a common issue.
Absolutely disgusted that a company (that once distinguished itself via its world leading design ethic) feel it’s ok to continue releasing this product with a design fault. It just doesn’t work. What a waste of time, resources and money. Yes they’re under warrantee but after the third time it’s become a joke, it’s depressing when the store employees are being told to act surprised when they probably deal with these several times each day.
I can only conclude they're intentionally designed to fail. Sad.

Everytime I plug in these headphones, it starts acting up like starting my music, pausing every video I see and etc.
Apple always tryna make people upgrade into more expensive ones by making the old products horrible, but some of us can't freaking afford expensive AirPods.

Apple Is Getting Very Sneaky and Low Quality

    • Written by Jessica L from FPO

I like the design of these earpods (great for small ears), yet they are of terrible quality and one ear always stops working (if the rubber around them doesn't peel first). Unfortunately, the rest of the electronics market seems to have completely ignored Apple's unnecessary attempt at "innovation" with these lightning inputs so I am forced buy another pr. of these overpriced earpods or buy an adapter JUST TO USE OTHER EARPHONES.

I don't understand why Apple decided to change to the lightning input other than to force people to buy extra adapters and stuff on top of the $$$ they've already paid for the original item. It would have been more impressive if they would just figure out how to prevent them from breaking/unravelling/ twice a yr but of course they won't.

Poor Quality Earbuds - Too Expensive For Quality - Lack of Convienience

    • Written by Stephanie F from Houston

    fits in ear
sound isn't terrible when brand new
    white color is noticeable

Dongle required to charge iPhone and listen to music at same time (this is a daily pattern for me)
These wear out fast. Within one week the sound would cut in and out.
Within one month, the left earbud gets distorted.
Created so Apple can eliminate the headphone jack. Boo.

I'm so disappointed with this design decision. For what? So they can sell the wireless earbuds??? I don't want the wireless earbuds because people can't see them in my ears (I have long hair). Nothing screams "I am on the phone right now/leave me alone!" like two white wires coming from somewhere near my head going to my iPhone like the wired earbuds.

    Terrible, not durable at all

    • Written by Adam F

I buy these and go through them right away. It has been the same every time; one earbud stops working. The next few days, they both break. There is no damage done to them at all. Also, they will randomly start, stop, pause, and skip music. Not worth $30 at all.

    Really disappointed and not pleased

    • Written by Ariel P

No words are enough to explain how displeased I am. With previous earbuds I never seemed to care so much about them, so I didn’t take great care of them. When they stopped working I blamed myself which seemed like a very valid reason right? But this time I did my upmost best to taking care of these earpods. Since it wasn’t the headphone jack anymore and seeing that if I broke these I’d have to pay $29 for a new pair, I was not taking any chances with spending money where it wasn’t needed.

These worked out great for 9 months and I’ve always properly put them away. Just two days ago they were working just fine like any other day. Before I got home from school I put them into the side pocket of my bag; later on, when I grabbed them out to listen to music, I was met with silence on my left and music on the right. It was the most unsatisfying feeling and I still don’t know what to do.

Reading other reviews on here has made me really disappointed in Apple. Care to put some quality into your earpods and figuring out ways to improve them so they can actually last? Thanks.

They'd be good if they were not trash

    • Written by Elena D from Lima

Honestly, I'm good with the audio quality, the microphone and everything. The fact they keep breaking makes them trash tho. I've been trough 3 pairs of this and that's just because they come with the iPhone I bought in the first place. You initially lose audio in one earpod, then the random volume controls freak out and then it stops working all together. Trash. Don't bother actually spending money on this until they publicly state they've changed this clearly ongoing problem.

    • Written by Bryanna D from Philadelphia

the sound isnt bad for headphones but ive gone through about 4 pairs of headphones & 2 adapters in 2 years. I am an active runner, work out, and always have headphones in my ears. This product either stops working by stopping my music involunterarily OR one earbud stops working. i dont recommend for a durable headphone use, only if youre looking for a quix fix appose to airpods

    Apple Headphones

    • Written by Joey P from Maple valley

I treated these headphones very well (never broke headphones in the past), the most I did was walk to class with them then set them on my counter. The control/microphone thing went out about a month after buying them. Then a week later the right earphone stopped working and now the left is cutting out. I expected more from a company like Apple. I would recommend a different brand very disappointed.

This is now my third pair, and they all ended the same with the earbuds not making any sound. I am disappointed, and angry. It is not worth spending 30 dollars on these earphones just so they can fall apart on you on the fourth month of using it. Lower the price for what they are really worth.
