They have been loyal to me, until my daughter swiped them

    • Written by Rosaria W from Kingston upon Thames

I was nearly not going to bother with a new pair, reading all these 1 star reviews, but then I checked in with John Lewis. You guys writing horrid reviews are either very heavy handed with these headphones, as I have had mine for over year with none of the issues you have been describing, or you are just miserable moaners.

I am not replacing due to breakage, just simply buying a new pair as my daughter lost hers and took mine to listen to an audio book on the bus on her way to school.

I think they are brilliant, great sound and I am looking forward to purchasing another pair, but from John Lewis. They have a full house of 5 stars with their reviews. Pays to shop around, I guess!

It is so big that hurts my ears

    • Written by Camila A from Vancouver

The quality is great, but It is so big that hurts my ears. Apple should work on a smaller option.

    Needs to be redesigned

    • Written by Ian T from Liskeard

The one that came with the phone were prone to the cutting in and out mentioned in other comments and lasted about 9 months before ceasing to function, they were replaced under warranty. The replacements lasted about 4 months, they are used a lot but used with care. I will try and get them replaced under warranty again but that is a 58 mile round trip + parking so almost the cost of replacing them. On a second phone the same has happened and the lightning to jackplug adaptor also broke. Really not good enough whatever happened to Apple's reputation for robust high quality design and engineering? I started with Apple on an Apple 1 as a university student and have had loads of machines from performa, to powermac, Apple Newton, digital camera, various laptops, servers, iMacs, iPods, iPads, iPhones, most were brilliant innovative and robust but i am really disappointed with the drop in standards over the last few years, my iPad Pro lasted til a few weeks out of guarantee and we have been through loads of headphones in the last 3 years.

If only 0 stars were an option

    • Written by Lucy M from Cambridge

I have been forced to purchase three pairs of these headphones over the last four months. They are not fit for purpose. The wire in the jack continuously bends meaning the sound goes on and off. Whilst listening to music this somehow causes voice control to turn on and off and skip through tracks whilst in Spotify and in Apple Music. Sounds plays through headphones then blares our of the phone. Normally a lover of apple products having purchased iPhones and laptops over the years. Definitely would not recommend. No doubt a ploy to force customers to spend up and purchase the air pods. Utterly disappointed, infuriating experience.

Came with iPhone 7, stopped working

    • Written by Deepa P from London

I am not very happy that first of all I need a special earphone to go with iPhone and also they break so easy. These things put me off from getting any Apple product. Came on site to buy new ones but discouraged from all the negative reviews. May be I will change the phone and switch to android.

    They’re okay I guess

    • Written by Paige D from Mansfield

Before I get into actually stating the problem with these, I’d like to say something positive about these. Contrary to all the reviews I’m seeing on the fact that one side stopped working, my earbuds didn’t have this problem until my dog literally pawed at my face and ripped my earbuds out of my phone. I’m not gonna lie, I’m extremely rough with earbuds and I break them within weeks, but these are the only ones that lasted me through months. The sound quality is great, and it’s great for ignoring people. The problem I have with these is the fact that they DO break eventually, but at least I won’t have to buy new ones for a while.

    Plug them in!

    • Written by Kerrie R from New Farm

Apple's EarPods are genius. Great sound, and the inbuilt microphone in the lead is very clear, good tone; plus the controller in the lead is fabulous, though I didn't appreciate its functionality at first. I use these EarPods plugged into my MacBook Air when I do live online client sessions (when clients have been using AirPods, instead, the internet connection sometimes breaks up and at times I can hear an echo). They are subtle and comfortable to wear (no awkward headphones on my head!), and the quality is good enough to provide a professional standard for the recording of the sessions which I later send to the client. Couldn't work without these — also light and easy to carry in their Apple case (I bought a 2nd set to keep in my bag). It really is much healthier to use devices that can be plugged in with a direct lead to the device, which contains the field. I hope Apple keep manufacturing these AND provides us with the sockets for these EarPods in all Apple devices. We should have the choice! (I'd hate to have to go back to Windows devices!). The original is still the best, in my opinion.

One of them broke after about 3 months of having them.

    • Written by Isobel R from Cardiff

I either want a refund or a new pair because I’ve treated this pair of earphones the best i possibly could and the right ear stopped working after only having it for three months after buying the iPhone 8 Plus for Christmas. Furious.

    So annoying

    • Written by Bryan C from Guildford

Literally break so easily I have to get a new pair so often and it’s annoying. Yes they have good sound but such bad quality like you’d think being a multi billion dollar company they’d be able to produce long lasting earphones...

I honestly wish I could rate these 0 stars

    • Written by Mariah M from Los Angeles

If you live in a place that's NOT Los Angeles, like Santa Cruz for example, you might as well not listen to music through earpods ever again. Nothing connects. Seriously. Nothing. I have gotten more stressed out trying to listen to music when music is supposed to be something that relaxes you. At this point I want to hang myself with these lightning earpods JUST so that I can get an actual use out of them. Because they are BRAND NEW. And I've only used them 3 times over the course of 2 weeks because it never connects.

    Terrible, needs constant replacing

    • Written by Upuli D from Gainesville

For the cost, it's absurd how often they need to be replaced. After just 3 or so months, they tangle really easily (the texture of the cords seems to change in this time from sleek to a weird restrictive rubber feeling) and they malfunction by stopping and starting my music out of no where, turning on siri when i didn't ask for it, and the button on the right malfunctioning even though I only use these while walking around campus/studying.

    Super disappointed.

    Awful

    • Written by Antonella S from Cliff side park

These headphones are trash. Bought a pair not even a month ago and they already stopped working. This isn’t the first time it’s happened with this product. You’re better off buying a different set of headphones, I would not recommend these at all. Don’t waste your money bc these don’t last long and the quality could be better. Wasted 30$ for nothing. Thanks for nothing Apple...

    EarPods are Garbage

    • Written by Michelle B from Chandler

Outside of the sound which isn't great (but I don't have high expectations for on earbuds that come with my phone), these EarPods are uncomfortable and don't stay in your ears even when holding your head still. If you're looking at purchasing these separately, then you've likely lost or damaged the ones that came with your iPhone. Do yourself a favor and buy the headphone to lightning jack converter and get a different, non-Apple set of earbuds or get wireless headphones and don't waste your money on these.

    • Written by Megan W from Prince Frederick

Un-usable within the first couple months..short life. They start messing with my music... pausing, fast forwarding, skipping songs, etc. it’s very annoying and I hate buying new headphones all the time. They should last way longer for the price. Apple is scamming y’all... and me.

    Love but not so stable.

    • Written by Minh N from San Jose

Love this earphone so much , but I have to rate it with 1 star cuz it keeps not working one-side of the earphone after a short-time using it. Also, it twisted together easily after a month. Keep buying it many time and tired with this unstable earphone.
