Third time is not the charm!!

    • Written by Terri C from Arlington

This is my third pair of Ear Pods with the Lightning Connector and not including the ones my daughter gave to me. These things are not cheap at $29.99 a pop but I need them to be hands free and cannot afford to get the AirPods. The EarPods have you make you sound distorted that is if the other party can even hear you at all, Apple needs to do better point blank! The EarPods go in and out, there's static sometimes, it's horrible. I cannot keep buying these and returning them only to get the same results.

Good sound, breaks within a few weeks

    • Written by Ang B from Easton

Got these with my new phone months ago, thought they were pretty cool, they have a great sound but within a few weeks they broke and this isn’t my first pair.. i has a few of these and they just don’t work out. One day I have sound and the next I don’t, it’s sorta like you have to giggle the cord to make the sound come through.

Easily broken; my third pair in 7 months

    • Written by David C from Anaheim

I'm fed up with the new lightning connector earpods. I've gone through three pairs since I got the iPhone 7 back in January, and the third pair just died on me. These headphones do not seem to be able to stand up to daily wear and tear, whereas the old 3.5mm connector earpods were usually good for the life of the phone (not to mention the inconsistent inline controls other reviewers have complained about). If Apple insists on sticking with lightning-only headphones in the future, I'm abandoning the iPhone.

    These are horrible...

    • Written by J L Z from Tampa

I received a pair of these buds with my Iphone 7 purchase. They broke within 5 months. I purchased another pair at my local Verizon store and they broke within 3 months. The right side stops working then both sides stopped. No sound at all. I rebooted my phone several times, plugged and unplugged the buds several times but nothing. I tried to get a free replacement from Verizon and they just sent me on my way. Not sure what to do next but visit the Apple store and fight with them to get a replacement. I will reconsider another type of phone. The iPhone is just too much trouble.

They broke within 2 months :(

    • Written by Araceli C from Antioch

They sound great but do not last. I got them late November with my iPhone Xr, and look, it's January and they are already broken. We demand quality for this prices!
Before you buy them again, consider other brands.

    Lasted 3 months

    • Written by Brynjar B from Edinburgh

As usual they started skipping/stopping songs, starting Siri etc after 2.5 months :( I don't think I've ever had a pair last longer than 3 months since I bought the Iphone 3!

I've had to buy about 5 pairs in a year

    • Written by brittany M from Reading

These break so fast! One ear stops working in a few months then you're back to square one and having to spend $29 on top of the price of an expensive iPhone. The sound quality is really good so I keep buying them in hopes of a pair actually lasting, but so far it looks like that's not going to happen.

Broke after less than a month

    • Written by Joe S from Weltons Corner

I enjoy the comfortable fit and sounds of Apple EarPods overall, however the lightning connector is a serious issue. After less than a month, the headphones which I received with my phone have stopped working due to the wire shorting out near the connector. The interface between the wire and the lightning connector is far too sharp, causing damage to the wire during very normal use cases such as having your phone in your pocket while listening to music. Incredibly poor design, I expect more from Apple.

    Doesn’t Last Long at All

    • Written by Claudette L from Hinesville

I bought my iPhone 8+ last year and the earphones lasted me all the way up until now(11-30-18), the first thing that as to go out was the lighting rod I could still hear my music and everything but every time I moved it, my music would cut out or have a shocking sound, and I know why this is the reason. The lighting rod has such a magnetic grip when in the base of the phone that when you pull it out, you’re slowly stretching the cord and making it have a shortage. That wasn’t the only problem though, my mic cut out and I doesn’t work either, I can’t turn my music up or down or pause it I have to get my phone out and do it from there. The last thing to go out was my right earphone. I don’t know why Apple makes their products break so easily, you’d think you’d wanna make them last longer so more people would wanna buy but I guess not.

    Trash

    • Written by Rodneyqua A from Neptune

These headphones are trash I brought a second pair of headphones and I’m still having the same problems with the ones I had before. Only one ear working the sound keeps coming on the side headphones and the other plays good. For the price they shouldn’t even cost this much they cheap any way only work good for a couple of months

    so not worth it...

    • Written by David H from Weston-super-mare

a pair of these came with my new iPhone 8. I genuinely care for my things so well, at the end of every day I would pack them away but only 2 months on and the right ear stopped working... I left it and just used my right one and then only a short month later the whole lot packed up. every time I used these for phone calls from day one I would get constant complaints about how quite and rubbish the audio was. To say disappointed would be an understatement.

WORST headphones ever made by Apple

    • Written by Renan S from Niteroi

Giving one star because I can't give zero. I am not sure if this is because of the Lightning Connector or what, but these headphones are horrible! This is my third pair and all of them come already with this issue: bad contact with the plug. I use them mostly to work out and any slight rougher movement I make, the music stops. Then I have to unplug, reconnect and press play again. Now imagine this several times per workout (which is not a delicate activity). Never again!

    Terrible

    • Written by Sophia D from Bishops Stortford

I have had my earphones since September and by November one ear had tuned out so I was stuck listening to the music through one year while it would skip and pause songs at random and now this morning they’ve just stopped working and as a commuter, I’d rather listen to my music than the trains! I keep my earphones in tip top condition, and although I got these free with my phone, I do not feel comfortable shelling out £30 for a new pair when cheaper brands produce better quality earphones...but wait, you’ve removed the jack so no one can BUY cheaper earphones! I thought that I was the only one, but after reading these reviews I’m clearly not. I love my phone but shame on you apple for downgrading big time in this department.

    Worst idea ever from Apple

    • Written by Eric B from Arlington

I hate these earphones. I used to be able to seamlessly transfer my earphones from my phone to my Mac. No more. My MAC doesn't have a lightning jack. And charging? I have to buy a special charger that will let me charge my phone at the same time that I wear my headphones. Bluetooth EarPods you say? Why do I want to hassle myself with another device to charge? And what about playing my iPhone through a stereo when I practice guitar? I have to have a special dongle to do that. Apple has made my life harder. I don't buy their products for that. If they keep it up, I'll stop. I don't write reviews very often, but I resent this design choice so much I felt compelled to come here and write one.

    Uncomfortable and Borderline Useless

    • Written by Tobias T from Hendersonville

Forget any drama about the lightning connector, this review is only about the EarPod design. This design incredibly useless. One side won't stay in that ear and the other side hurts that ear. It's very telling that Apple gives away these headphones with iPhones and charges $30 for a replacement while the Apple or Beats brand in-ear style with silicone rubber tips start at $70. The EarPod is a vastly inferior design to the silicone rubber tip.
