    iPhone 7 Smart case

    • Written by Meghan S from Crystal Lake

Love it. Thinner than most charging cases and lighter which is really nice. Overtime though the case begins to peal and the silicone starts to come off. Otherwise a great case and I love the battery life.

    Pretty decent case

    • Written by Emily C from Perth

I've had this case for a year and a half now.

Originally when I got it, it was great. I love that I can charge it separately to my phone or together - great for nights out when I'm trying to speed up charging my phone. I think it lasts around 10 hours when I'm constantly on my phone.

About a year or so in, the case started peeling. Probably due to my carelessness as I drop my phone a lot and the case takes the damage. A year and a half later it has peeled a LOT more and people say I should get a new case - but it doesn't really phase me because it still works the way it's supposed to.

    Two things I don't like:
    1) The fact that my phone is being overcharged ALL THE TIME. A button would be handy.
    2) I'd prefer that the back of the case is the same thickness because it feels weird the way it is.

TL;DR - If you want a functional case that encourages your laziness, but will obviously deteriorate over time due to normal wear and tear, BUY THIS. It saves lives if you're going to be out of the house a lot.

ALTERNATIVELY - Buy a phone with a bigger battery capacity in order to avoid needing this case. :)

    Great, BUT!!!!

    • Written by Manuel R from Goodyear

I purchased my case in Oct of 2016 when I got my iPhone 7. The case worked as intended, battery life is great. However there are a few things you should know if you're considering it. The case does not have an on/off button, once you plug your iPhone in it will begin to charge. Also, after a few months of use the battery case will begin to showing major signs of wear. Which will eventually cause it to tear.
Apple might cover that but beware, even if you're in your 1 year of warranty.

    Great but heavy!

    • Written by Alex Y from Fleet

I tend to use this case when I need it, if I know I am on a day out where I will be taking lots of pics or vids it’s great to have in the drawer, fully charged and ready to go.

For me as a day to day case it’s way to heavy! I suddenly become aware of the phone in my pocket!

I also wish it was not the shape it is! A big lump on the back.

    Speakers are good! Really good.

Functionally it works and is great for days out.

    Problems after ios11 upgrade

    • Written by David F from Newcastle-under-Lyme

I bought this Smart Battery Case in February of this year and had no problems until I upgraded to IOS11 last week.

The iPhone battery stayed at 100% with the charging icon on display until the Smart Battery drained, but since IOS11 both the case and the phone are draining simultaneously. I also appears that if I'm watching video then it's the phone battery that is doing all the work and the smart battery case will only kick in when I stop watching video.

It's a bit annoying at the moment, but hopefully it will be sorted in the next software update. If it is, then I would have no problem recommending it.

great case - i recommend it

    • Written by Themis O from Thessaloniki

so i bought this case because iPhone's battery is draining so fast. it is actually great not having a power bank with you all the time and just put a case every time you want. the fact that it uses the lightning cable is great and it charges in about an hour. i can carry my iPhone as well as the case fully charged and at the end of the day, using it pretty often i will be back home with 30-40% on my phone and 0% on the case, which is actually great. when i know that i will be outside for the day i just bring it with me. a negative fact is that sometimes the phone struggles with my headphones, so the music can still be playing in the speaker while the headphones are plugged in. overall it is something that everyone must have and it is worth the price.

    So far so good

    • Written by Ron P from Scarborough

3 months in and this product has met my expectations, currently lasting 2 days on a single charge. However, the internal iPhone battery itself (which is the root cause of me making this purchase) and the issues I've had are slowly creeping back into view. Time will tell I guess, the degradation of the internal battery will continue to the point of replacing the battery or the iPhone itself. Doesn't change the fact that this battery case works as promised.

    Great case, needs water resistance.

    • Written by Aaron M from Bronx

It's a great battery case, zero hassle as its manages the power for you and last maybe 2 days with moderate use, apple watch and powerbeats3 connected. I only take the case off to clean it or protect it from water, which is where I feel the needs for improvements. As oil and grease will build up the case seems to absorb it quicker than the phone alone which can be annoying but manageable. The lack of water resistance is where the case really falls as I have to remember the case is not certified like the phone and should put the phone away during heavy rain and to be careful while cleaning.

The case adds bulk like any other but has the smallest footprint compared the other battery cases that offer the same mAh.(I have not seen any other single body battery cases so would not be fair to compare that.)

Also, I have dropped this case on the sidewalk, office carpet(low pile) and hardwood floors and no damage have happened to the phone or battery.

Pretty good battery life and design, just wish it had a way to turn it off like some other charger cases do.

Good case but their might be a little problem

    • Written by Nicholas R from Portage

I got this case, the leather case, the silicone case, and the lightning doc. I used this case the most because I needed more battery life. But I used it with doc and the case and phone were too heavy on the doc and the case's lightning port is bent. It doesn't really charge unless I jiggle the lightning connector in the lightning port than don't touch it. I have to charge the case then my phone then put them together. It's a hassle

    Solves two problems

    • Written by Tony G from Dexter

As a resent iPhone convert I missed certain things from my old Android. A battery that lasts a whole day and front facing speakers. This fixed both of these issues. Downside is it's bulky and heavy. Historically I've had heavier phones so it doesn't bother me.

    Honest Review

    • Written by Derek R from Edinburgh

I've been using this case (in black) for 5 months on my IPhone 6s.

The case provides great extended battery life. It uses the case battery first before draining the main phone battery and a swipe of the screen shows you both case and phone battery percentages. The case makes the phone heavier but IMO it does so making the phone a nice weight. Its not too heavy but also not too light where you feel the phone is easy to drop. Grip is great and the phone fits on my belkin charger stand no problem. The case also doesn't interfere with the camera lens or flash and I'm sure it would provide a good shock protection if the phone was dropped.

My only concern is after 5 months use the non slip feel is going around the edges and I've got two pin holes in the rubber. One on the front face lip and one on the corner which has began peeling back. Fully acceptable with wear and tear but price v's 5 months durability makes me drop a start.

That saying I've got my wife and mother the same case for their phones.

I wasn't a fan of any charging case, but now I am:)

    • Written by Jehu J from Brooklyn

I was tired of carrying around my charger or a battery pack so I thought I would give this a try. I have to admit to does add noticeable weight to the phone but what external charger doesn't. The feel is awesome, and the fact that my phone can now go from 7am to 10pm or later without having to plug it in anywhere is worth the cost and weight. I have the 7 and once you get used to the weight, which I did in about a week, it will become a non-factor. Its really useful to have this much battery power.

    Mostly Great!

    • Written by Kevin B from Jersey City

I bought this and I mostly love it. I don't have to worry about charging my phone while running around at work. 3 minor issues: 1: it is made of a very smooth material and sometimes feels like it will slip put of my fingers. 2: I wish there was an on/off switch for the case. It's not essential but it would be nice to converse the backup battery if you know you will need it later. and 3 it basically doubles the weight of the phone.
Other than those 3 very minor gripes, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

First impressions are great. How will it fare over time?

    • Written by Andrew L from Santa Rosa

If anyone else is like me and puts their phone through sporadic, heavy use, this may be a great option to avoid excessive cables and having to carry a separate battery or charge cable.

I picked up the iPhone 7 today in the 256GB black model and decided to also pick up a black iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case. I definitely tried one out in-store before committing, since they are $100, after all.

Inserting the phone into the case is interesting. There is one flexible area on the entire case, about 3/4 of the way up the case if you start from the bottom. From there, you insert your phone almost entirely in line with the case and slide it down, and then the top of the case (the lip) pulls right over the top of the phone. Pretty easy but not exactly intuitive the very first time you do it. Taking it out is the reverse of the process I described. I recommend using two thumbs to slide the phone up once you've taken the lip of the case off the top of the phone.

The feel in your hand is great. The protruding speaker section at the bottom makes the balance in your hand a bit different than a standard case, and slightly defeats the purpose of getting the iPhone 7 over the 7 Plus, but I only plan on using this case on days where I know I'll be out a lot.

The inside is a velour-like feel that will prevent your phone from getting scratched from trapped debris like some purely silicone cases can do. There is also a status light on the interior of the case showing an orange LED while it charges. I don't yet know what it looks like when fully charged.

Your iPhone battery widget will tell you the respective battery levels for the two devices: your phone and the case. From what it appears, the case depletes first while it charges your phone, and then your phone battery is used once your battery case is depleted.

The speaker holes are not new speakers and microphones, but instead just holes to allow your voice and/or music to pass through to the phone's speaker and mic. I was informed by the person helping me today at the Apple Store that these are most likely not water resistant like the iPhone 7 -- and I can see why. That velour interior would be wrecked if you got it all wet!

Lastly, as you might have figured from my above description, you can charge the case independent of having the phone in it. Right now my phone is on my desk restoring apps from my iCloud backup while the case charges in my Lightning dock.

I hope everyone enjoyed this review. What are your thoughts?
