    Great keyboard

I am a middle aged software developer and I use iMac a lot. Every single day. I've been using iMacs for about 10 years now. When I updated my current iMac in 2015 it came with the narrow Magic Keyboard and even though I tried to love it very hard it was too difficult for me to use. So I ended up using my old full sized keyboard. It's about the numeric keypad (but I use it as well) its more about PgUp, PgDown, the size and placement of cursor keys. When I realised that the full size Magic Keyboard is available I instantly wanted to get it, but I was not so sure after reading so many negative reviews. Perhaps Apple has reinforced the keyboard or I was more lucky, but mine works perfectly! After a few days I get used to the slightly different angle and I can use it forgetting that this is a new model. Now, two months later I decided to write a review, to help those who worry that the keyboard bends easily. It's not. It declutters my desk a bit because I don't have the cable, it makes one USB port free – important when you have many testing devices connected. It's responsive, I can wake up my iMac just by pressing the space in the morning and the key typing feel is great. I can recommend it without reservation.

Does not come with a USB-C cable !

Seems to work as advertised, but given that the current MacBook Pro only ships with USB-C connection, then surely Apple can offer a USB-C cable with the keyboard to allow direct connection and charging ?

So much worse than it used to be

This new design is horribly unfriendly for typing. The key drop is so shallow that I often don't know whether I've typed a key or not. It also results in many accidental key presses from fingers resting on the keys. My error rate is WAY up, my words per minute way down. It is a nightmare to type on. The bluetooth connectivity is great like previous mac keyboards (hence the second star), but it is an absolutely horrendous keyboard for typing.

Great keyboard but they are bent

Could have lost one star for being bent, I have purchased three of these in total and each has a differing degree of bend in them. I am sure it is either warm or cold storage causing it.

The bend is in the aluminium, this actually means it is quite easy to lay the keyboard down and see where it is high then apply some light pressure to bend it back into either a level position or one that suits the desk it is on. We use them on natural solid oak desks which are by design not perfectly level. So it is handy that you can bend them slightly to suit.

I know its a pain to get a bent keyboard, however, it does appear nothing more than the metal twisting in storage and for me at least it was easily sorted very quickly.

Battery life not as advertised on this website.

One month between charges? More like five days.

I was given it as a birthday present. I loved it. However after 4 weeks of using it. It started to bend. The bend has gotten worse and worse. Now this is very unfortunate, as when I went to the apple store, located in the Trafford Centre it could not be fixed. I also can't get a refund as it was a gift from a relative who is no longer with us so we do not have the receipt. The keyboard itself is fantastic and easy to use, i fully recommend it, if the bend does not occur. I do tho love all of apple's products.

Too flat and I miss the extra USB ports

The cleaners at my office spilled something on my older keyboard, killing it. I went and bout the new keyboard with the numeric keypad (I'm in finance so I use it all the time.) I was surprised that Apple had managed to make it worse by upgrading it. Blue tooth? Fine, whatever. My real problems are ergonomic and functional. This keyboard is noticeably flatter, which I can already feel starting to stress my wrists. And unlike many people I used the extra USB ports (particularly since I have a usb-c only macbook pro. I miss my old keyboard.

I never have an issue with this keyboard. Mine isn't bowed, but I have seen ones that are, but really, it makes no difference at all, it still works flawlessly. People just love to moan.

    Utter Junk Keyboard

Looks wonderful & sleek, but it stopped working after two weeks and would not pair with IMAC. Has no backlight so impossible to tell if it's on or not. $100 down the drain.

Great Key Travel, Bendgate is a non issue.

First, the price is rather silly. For $129 it should have should include a touch bar. **digression - If Apple's serious about promoting the Touch Bar it should be available for pros using external keyboards on Touch Bar equipped Mac's - end digression**

Okay so the keyboard is actually slightly bent, however it doesn't rock or move at all while in use. The battery life is great, appears to be about 30 days and it quickly recharges in a couple of hours and it can still be used while charging.

As far as the key travel, I know it's a personal taste, but I think the key travel of the new Magic Keyboard is superior to the wired extended keyboard I used previously and far superior to the keyboard of the 2017 MacBook Pro.

It's not as great as the old 2003 Apple Wireless Keyboard, it's still a pleasure to use.

    Great Keyboard!

The reviews here all all over the map. I suppose everyone has their experience and perspective but some of the comments I find a bit hard to understand. I bought mine at an Apple Store, it was not bent, it sits perfectly flat on my desktop, no wobbles, and I see no indications that it is going to bend in the middle. I suppose if you are sitting on the couch with this in your lap and have a really heavy keystroke ... maybe. Yes, it sits quite flat, just as past versions, and there is no provision to tilt it but frankly I find the typing position to be very much to my liking. With forearms flat on the desk my hands fall naturally to the keyboard, no issues there though I will say that I use a folded towel under my wrists that cushion and raise them by perhaps a half an inch. The keystroke is not as nice as the fantastic keyboard on the new MPB but very similar to past apple keyboards I've owned. We'll give it a few hundred hours of use for a final verdict but "all good" at the moment. Blue tooth pairing was quick and easy and after several days I've not had any issues with losing connectivity.

So yes, it's bloody expensive but it works exactly as I had expected it to, looks good on the desk, and the numeric keypad is an absolute essential if you do a lot of spreadsheet work. So I give 5 stars after a week of use and will come back with a long term review a couple months down the track.

Bad design leads to warped keyboard - not worthy of the apple brand

After a relatively short amount of time, my keyboard warped which meant on a glass table the thing would spin back and forth

Returned it to the apple store where, from entering the shop to leaving with a replacement, took 80 mins!

Not Bent, but still with flaws

Would have been five stars if it didn't have the same delay on the Caps Lock key that my other Magic Keyboard also had.

It worked perfectly as a wired keyboard but then developed the 'feature' after I had synced it with my Mac. This is really annoying, and slows down my typing speed massively as I inevitably have to go back and correct letters which appear as lower case but should be upper case!

    I expect more from Apple

Keyboard's fine, keys work as expected. The pairing with my MacBook Pro, however is very poor. If the Bluetooth connection is ever lost due to range I have to reboot my MacBook before I can re-establish a connection. I expect more from a $130.00 Keyboard and $3000.00 laptop. Very disappointing.

Keyboard works as advertised, good feel, perfect condition!

    Uncomfortable and lacks tactile feel

It is very difficult to type rapidly on this keyboard. The poorly designed board and keys are too flat. Even with the custom designed stand available from Amazon, it is not ergonomic and it is too easy to slip onto the lower row if you are not watching the keys. Having to watch keys slows things down considerably.

    It bends...

This keyboard bends in the middle after a few months use. It needs 2 extra feet in the middle to support typing without bending.

I like having the number pad but fear this is not a high quality product made for prolonged use.

    Warped + Bluetooth Blues

Do Not Purchase. I've tried two and both had the same issues: The Bluetooth kept losing connectivity and I would have to turn it on and off constantly to get it to reconnect. The E and R keys functioned intermittently. The caps lock key with green indicator light would sporadically stop working. Intermittent delayed response while typing. I've spent hours on the phone with Apple tech support trying to resolve the issues I was having with the first keyboard but without resolution, so Apple agreed to ship me a replacement keyboard. I received what looked to be a refurbished keyboard, installed it, and immediately experienced the same problems. Both keyboards are warped, bowed up at both ends. Demanded a refund from Apple today.

    Almost Unusable

Was looking forward to an Apple bluetooth keyboard with a 10 key so quickly ordered this when it became available. The first thing I noticed is that there is almost no angle to this keyboard and no way to adjust it. This probably going back to Apple and I'll pull the wired keyboard back out.

Really loving this keyboard. I am not having any issues others have experienced--no bending and angle of keyboard. Using this product with my iMac 27 (mid 2015) and running Sierra. So far, no problems.
