This product caused an iPad drop and screen crack

    • Written by Anthony M from SAN MATEO

My daughter held her iPad across her arm while standing. She became unbalanced for a moment and held onto the cover instead of the iPad. The iPad dropped onto a hard floor. A normal cover would not have allowed this to occur. This product looks sleek, but presents a false sense of security for a child. It’s better to use a normal iPad cover.

    Magnetic cover badly worn!

    • Written by maureen V from Romford

Bought an iPad mini 4 series a couple of years ago, together with 2-piece Smart Cover, which I love. Quite expensive at £49 and £29 respectively. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed how the magnetic cover has worn. Whilst the underneath is still as good as new, the magnetic cover is badly worn and looks shoddy. My question is do I replace it with another Apple cover or do I buy a cheaper copy? Or should Apple replace it with a new one?

This is the worst excuse for a cover I can imagine. First, it doesn’t cover. It is a thin piece of microfiber material with a magnetic edge that, theoretically, clings to the IPad. In reality, You will need to be verrry careful to keep it on the front of the iPad. There is no back and no padding. There is no protection if you drop it, so my new Ipad’s days are numbered because I dropped my old one twice! How I wish I had saved that raggedy old red cover! Love the iPad. Hate the cover!

Awful, poor quality, flimsy structure, falling to bits

    • Written by Vanessa H from Teddington

I’ve had my cover for just 18 months and it’s falling to bits. It no longer works as a wedge to prop up th iPad as the polyurethane is splitting away from the hinge. Not worth the money! The old covers for the iPad gen 1 were so much more robust this is apple profit over quality at its worst. Don’t buy!

    Not Very Smart Case

    • Written by Lynne C from Singapore

BEWARE! This case is just a folding cover for the screen held on (not very firmly) by a magnet. My new iPad has dropped out of the case onto the floor 3 times now. Very disappointed with this case.

So my original cover wore out and I replaced it with a new one, but it is flimsy and doesn't hold the ipad steady when the cover is folded into a stand. You would think for $40 the cover would be sturdy and work flawlessly. A one trillion dollar company shouldn't be selling overpriced junk. My faith in apple is waning.

    Elegant perfection

    • Written by Matthew L from Austin

I love everything about this cover! It snaps onto my 6th generation (2018) iPad with perfect alignment, strongly enough that the iPad can dangle from it. It gently holds itself to the back of the iPad when flipped open, just enough that the cover doesn't flop around. And it keeps the screen clean and free of fingerprints. I couldn't find any other covers that didn't add bulk and unnecessary protection to the back of the iPad. This cover adequately protects the screen and adds functionality (screen cleaning and two stand configurations) with minimal thickness. Perfect!

    Just front cover

    • Written by Monique M from Plainview

This is only a front cover. Thought this was a case that protected the back so it isn’t exposed.

I think this is for people who want to see their iPad color.
I only care about fully protecting the iPad

PLEASE bring back the leather cases

    This product is absolutely useless

    • Written by Diego P from Raleigh

Please don’t buy this product, I should have read all the reviews posted here first. This cover doesn’t have anything of “smart” as it only covers the front. Very disappointed & returning it now,

    iPad 9.7 cover

    • Written by Andrew L from Guildford

Very disappointed, after great experience with previous gen covers (leather ones)

Flimsy so constantly having to reset.
Can only be folded with protective inner face exposed, so this then picks up any dirt from table.

Despite seeing -give reviews I purchased based on a belief that apple always gets these things right.
Sadly this trust has been dissolved.

£45 and heading straight for the bin.

This cover is exactly as advertised. It attaches to the side with a magnet, covers the glass, provides a nice stand. Opens easily and flips to the back. Lightweight and durable (based on the one I've had for 5 years for another iPad.

    Useless product

    • Written by Angie J from Ilford

What a waste of money. The magnet is not strong enough and keeps popping off. You cannot compare this half finished product with the previous full cover. Absolute rubbish!

Does Exactly What You Need It To

    • Written by Alex H from Rossendale

Great product, covers the screen well and works great as a stand. Other reviews complaining it only covers the screen but that is the purpose of this cover. Always had one of these since my original iPad 2.

If I could give it negative stars, I would!!!

    • Written by Joseph J from Kirkland

THIS IS NOT A FULL COVER. They simply took the older cover and cut half of it off. I’m sure the motivation was to save money, what stupidity!!! Apple is better than this...at least that’s what I thought. Who in the world wants to expose half of their very expensive iPad to scratches, burnishing and unnecessary wear? Pretty sure NO ONE!!! The worst thing about Apple covers used to be that they were unnecessarily expensive, now you can add poor design. I just returned mine.

    Should come with superglue

    • Written by Rachel B from Charlestown

I can’t count how many times I’ve had to superglue the magnet back onto the case to keep it functional. This case is poorly made.

    Don’t Buy

    • Written by Jason G from South Guildford

This is my 3rd Smart Cover, All for different iPad models. The previous covers were great and this is why I purchased this one. Apple have changed the design and now instead of fitting the iPad into the cover, the cover attaches with magnets and covers the screen only leaving the aluminium back uncovered. The magnets are also weak and comes off the iPad all the time. There are plenty of after market covers available that will protect your valuable iPad much better for a fraction of the price.

    Don’t buy!!!!!!

    • Written by Karin P from Miami

What a mistake! I thought this had a back cover to protect the ENTIRE FRONT AND BACK OF THE IPAD. But no, what you are paying for here is JUST A FRONT COVER WITH A MAGNET!!! This thing leaves the ENTIRE IPAD IN THE BACK EXPOSED!!!!

Why on earth would I want to buy just a front cover? The whole point is to purchase a nice cover that lets you protect the entire ipad from any scratches.

0 stars but this thing does not let you submit a review unless you select “a star.” Total waste of money. I am surprised with Apple. They used to sell a full cover years ago for the ipad air and I swore this was what I was purchasing. Clearly I was dead wrong.

Also, the majority of us that use the ipad 6th generation also use the Apple pencil. You should make more covers for this ipad that include an apple pencil holder and not make someone buy a separate thin sleeve JUST TO HOLD THE APPLE PENCIL. Ridiculous.

It's a useless product, i'm not blaming anyone 'cause apparently I never knew what a Smart Cover is, I bought it thinking it was a regular case that covers the front and the back but it's isn't
Don't buy this it's just an expensive piece of leather. I don't understand the innovation of this. If I could give ZERO stars I would.

    Not too impressed

    • Written by Steven H from Plainfield

OK, it doesn't weigh very much, so that's good. Not too impressed with the rest of it. Was hoping for a cover similar to the one for my old iPad that covers the front and rear of the iPad. The magnet does not hold the cover on nearly as securely as it should. Also, no corner or edge protection if you drop it. I will return this and see what else is available from other vendors.
