    Spend your money elsewhere

    • Written by Sarah B from Saint Paul

These will last you about a year, and then when they send you a replacement that you have to pay for, those will last 2 months and also break.

these are hands down the worst headphones I have ever had. I got the first pair for free with my MacBook because they were running a special, however, I had the headphones for about 3 months and they suddenly broke due to a software issue. I brought them back to Apple because they have insurance and got new ones, now my second pair just broke AGAIN. For the same reason. These headphones are awful and should never be bought unless you want broken headphones every few months. Apple better give me new headphones or better ones because these headphones are a complete waste of time and money for those who buy them.

    Do not buy

    • Written by Tranise I from Denton

I would never buy again. I should have just put my money towards AirPods. They lasted less than 9 months with excellent care. The sound quality is not as good as the headphones that come with the iPhone. They are convenient but a poor quality item.

Bad product overall - especially considering the price

    • Written by Mario F from Minden

Apart from all the issues pointed on other review about the product breaking down before 1 year of usage, right before warranty expires (I've had mine for 1.5 years, and it's still working), the product in itself is still bad. 2 key flaws:

Sound quality: volume is kind of low for calls if you are on a noisy environment, but worst of all, very, very bad for listening to music or movies. Bass sounds are all gone. I'm not an audiophile, it's not about having a perfect or flawless sound on a earphone. But all bass sounds that you can hear quite clearly on any standard (and much, much cheaper) earphone are either 90% muted or simply gone on this one.

Battery: I've never got 8 hours of usage battery out of it. Maybe 5 or 6. But worst of all, you cannot charge it while using it. This makes it impossibly unreliable for whoever needs to use it for work, joining or taking calls on the go. If the battery runs out, you cannot plug in a battery pack while continuing to use it, or find an outlet for a quick charge to give it a 5 min charge for a bit more juice to allow you to finish the call. It will fully disconnect and be offline for it to charge, period. This is a fundamental design flaw. Unforgivable for a 100 USD earphone.

    Love Doesn't Last

    • Written by Sarah P from Rowayton

These headphones changed my life when I got them 8 months ago. I listened to music and audiobooks while doing everything....until yesterday, when I set them down briefly to grab a glass of water (so they would stay connected to my laptop when I walked away). When I came back, they stopped connecting to my computer. I've tried all the solutions I could find online but they just won't pair or even show up anymore. I definitely got a lot of hours of play out of these headphones but I'm not sure I want to spend $100 on headphones every year or so.

I will not buy any beats products again.

    • Written by Amber W from Dunnellon

When i got the headphones they worked great, sounded good and had no connectivity problem. A little less than a year later they suddenly wouldn't turn on and just blinked red and white and would not take a charge. I sent them in to get them repaired or replaced because they were still in warranty but they went out of warranty before they got to the facility. They sent them back even though they were in warranty when i sent them out. So i got less than a year use out of a very expensive pair of headphones at the time i bought them, I was very disappointed. I will not be buying any products from beats again.

Worst purchase ever. Battery life is horrible

    • Written by Wei Chao H from Hong Kong

Bought mine May 2018, the battery has basically died around July 2019. I visited the store today and they said a repair (which basically means a replacement) will cost me ~15USD cheaper than buying a new one. Never wasting my money on Apple earphones again. Worst decision ever.

    Broke after a year

    • Written by Christian B from Calgary

I bought these last year in August and loved them, used them almost daily and loved their performance on airplanes and the lightning charging. Totally out of the blue, they would not connect to my phone anymore for longer than 10 seconds and then start blinking red and white while attempting to reconnect. That was last week. Now I just thought to give it another shot and they wont even turn on anymore...

If you want to replace your $130 headphones a lot, go for them. If you want to get something more reliable, buy something else.

Lasted a year hence do not recommend to buy.

Great while they last (which isn't long)

    • Written by cole W from Brooklyn

Pretty common (and known by apple) issue, these headphones should be recalled. My battery stopped charging after a while. Warrantied, then the replacement had the same issue. How can you expect me to want to pay $80 for something that will have the same issue?

13 months in and I have the red/white lights of death, just like many of the other reviews here. Nothing to do but throw out this expensive paperweight, or take another chance for $79 for a second pair ($99 in Canada)... I won't chance it. Heed these reviews and avoid this product.

Add me to the list of bad reviews...

    • Written by Robert B from Saint Petersburg

After taking EXCELLENT care of these head phones, they totally died on me yesterday after owning them for only 14 months. I'm honestly not used to something made by Apple dying so soon. Sad. I bought a pair of JayBird X3's on Amazon at half the price and they sound amazing! Hopefully they last longer than 14 months. There really should be an extended warranty added to the BeatsX headphones due to this obviously being a design flaw after reading all of the reviews.

Wish I could give it a zero

    • Written by Sidhtara T from San Francisco

Same as everybody else. It breaks right around the one year mark (flashing red and white lights; says it's connected, but it's not) and the only solution they give you is to pay $79 + shipping for a new one, which is basically the original cost. They said it was a fluke that it happened so close to the warranty ending, but clearly these reviews speak otherwise.

Worst earphones I have ever owned

    • Written by Ewan R from Pontyclun

I am currently on my third pair of beats X now needing a fourth, the first two pairs I had both completely stopped functioning in one earbud without warning and the current one now has a battery issue where I can charge it to full then go to use it two hours later and the battery is completely dead. I have always carried the headphones in the provided carrying case and never roughly handled them. The only good thing about my experience with these is the apple customer service that has replaced them each time without question however you have to travel to the store each time for a meeting and then once again later in the week to pick a new pair up which is a hassle. Not worth the money or hassle as they just about average in sound quality when they do work anyway. I would recommend buying a different pair of earphones and not these.

If I could give zero stars I would

    • Written by Theresa Z from Williston

This is one of the worst products I've ever purchased... and it seems apple have lost their ways.. apple products used to mean quality. These are garbage. I haven't used these a dozen times since purchase and they will not turn on, they do nothing. The battery seems entirely dead... reset only works when they're plugged in.. when off the charge cable, nadda, nothing. Seems a common issue with these, which were at the time I purchased them $100 earphones.. total garbage and now more landfill.
The button is small and fidgety (when it worked) and hard to ever tell if the phones are on or not.. forget about knowing if they turn off. Battery has no reasonable lifetime..

I am so disappointed after all of these years of apple purchases to have this now. And I will not even get started with being forced here because of no jacks on new products... baloney being forced into filling the planet with expensive apple garbage.

Bad Product. Bad Support. Expect Failure After 1 Year of Normal Use.

    • Written by Francis A from Denver

I've been through three of these products. Just overall bad. There are perpetual connection issues and failure of the product after a year of normal usage. Of course, the limited 1-year warranty expired, cost of service (as of 9/6/2019 is $79).

I have owned 2 (1 of which was replaced). Power issues and sound issues going out in an earpiece. Garbage product. Stay away from Beats X!

Consider non-apple affiliated headphones. The smart M1/H1 chips aren't all that smart when contained in dumb products.

    Choose wisely.

    Save your money

    • Written by eric P from crawfordsville

This is my revised review because my first draft had "words not allowed ". I scanned the review and assure you that there were no bad words. Save your money! Bought a pair. Left earbud stopped working within a year. Apple sent a new "refurbished" pair. 3 blinking white lights of death took them out 4 months later. Apple support informed my that these only have a 90 day warranty, go figure. I'm done with Beats. Cheap product from a terrible place.

Got a pair as a gift loved them but only lasted 5 months before breaking on me. Had a 1 year warranty and got a new pair and they broke a month later which by then my warranty was out. They work great but not for long. Poor quality headphones for a pretty penny.

    Breaks Quickly (8-10 Months)

    • Written by David S from Alvin

Got a pair for Christmas, and they broke in 10 months. I then got a new pair, since it was still under warranty. The replacement pair broke in 8 months, and no longer covered under warranty, since the warranty is only 12 months from original purchase date. I advise only purchasing if you are planning on replacing them every year.
