DO NOT BUY BEATSX - 2 sets stopped working after 6 months

    • Written by Carole R from PHILADELPHIA

Really love these - WHEN they work. My 2nd pair just quit after less than 6 months.Seems many other users have the exact same complaint. UNACCEPTABLE for an Apple product that sells for $100.

Loved them until one day they stopped working

    • Written by Tania Y from Kingston

I liked using these earphones a lot. They paired well with all of my apple devices, charged quickly and the charge lasted a sufficiently long time. They were great for going to the gym, running outside, listening to podcasts at home, or working at a coffee shop, without having to bother with any wires. The neck band is nicely shaped and would comfortably rest on my neck without sliding off. The magnetized buds stick together when not in use, which prevents them from flailing around too much.

After about a year and a half of regular but not extremely frequent use (1-2 times a week or less), my earphones abruptly stopped turning on or pairing. It appears to be similar to the issue that many others have been experiencing. Apple gave me an option to send them in for repair, but it will cost almost as much as getting a new pair. I don't think this is reasonable for a product in this price range, and will be looking for something more reliable.

    Not reliable

    • Written by Shah S from Baltimore

I had to get these replaced for a total of 3 times. Every time, they had some sort of connectivity issue. The best Apple support could do for me is issue me a repair. They had no guarantees to the reliability down the road. The product does what is expected, just not for how long I expected it to.

    DON'T BUY, IT'S A LIE!!!

    • Written by LaKeela D from Antioch

I thought I'd learned my lesson after buying the Beats Pill that NEVER met the quoted battery limits. I ended only being able to use the Beats Pill while plugged into the wall!

Anyway, I bought two pair of BeatsX for my husband and myself and wouldn't you know it... BOTH pair died two weeks ago (June 2019)... Just over one year from the date of purchase (June 9, 2018)!

They're finicky when switching between paired devices and [like the Beats Pill], their battery life doesn't meet the product description.

    I just bought a second set - here's why

    • Written by Christopher D from Austin

I just bought my second set. The first ones lasted about 2 years. I looked at some other options but ended up getting a second set for these reasons:
    - I prefer wireless to wired. I used wired headphones for years and the cord kept getting caught on things and ripping them out of my ears which was super irritating.
    - I tend to take my headphone on and off a lot at work (i.e. when someone asks me a question) and I need someplace to put them. Things like the Beats Pro are two things to be set down and possibly lost. My Beats X hang safely around my neck and are always there when I need them. The magnet keeps them from flopping around too much.
    - The part that hangs around my neck is just a thick wire, not a bulky piece of plastic like on some other wireless headphones.
    - No external charger is required. These have the same lightening connector as my phone so I don't need an extra cable or a cradle or anything just for the headphone. Many other wireless models have other things to keep track of.
    - These make a good seal with my ear, so I can block out external noise. This lets me hear everything clearly at a lower volume. I use these a LOT so I don't want to damage my hearing with too much volume. That said I had to try the various earcups to find the ones that fit the best, and the one on the left side is not as good of a seal as the right. But overall it's fine.
    - I can get through most of a 10-hour day on a single charge depending on how long I was using them. They charge quickly so I can do a top off quickly and easily.
    - Sound quality is great. (FWIW I mostly listen to EDM.)

My only gripe is I wish they lasted longer, but if I got 2 years out of them I guess that's about what one can expect with most devices these days. At least they are "only" $99 and not $299 or something crazy.

    Loved them!

    • Written by Nicole S from Indianola

I've had mine for almost two years now and still absolutely love them. I do primarily use them at work so I can't speak to how they hold up to hard workouts. I've had a couple instances of the connection not working like normal and referring to the web to reset. But they're still going strong! I'm actually buying a second pair for my husband.

Go to, simple connect, every device headphones

    • Written by Guadalupe M from Ypsilanti

I love these headphones. They rarely leave my neck. I get noticeably sad when I occasionally misplace them. Apple has a great warranty if you get them from the store! They’ve replaced them for me for slight cracks from workout wear, same issue along different piece, but most recently have been more durable with equal use. Sound quality is immersive, and a bonus feature to me is getting to watch on my big screen using Apple TV with a two swipes of the remote.

I liked my BeatsX. Sound quality was pretty good, battery life fine and stayed put during runs. I liked that I could charge them with the same cord as my phone. After less than a year of use, the power/bluetooth button stopped working so I replaced them with different sport headphones.

    • Written by maria A from gatineau

This was the worst purchase I have ever made my have broken 3 times now every 5 to 6 months and I have honestly given up on them. WILL NEVER BUY A BEATS PRODUCT AGAIN. Apple should rethink selling this product ! Don’t buy it look at other brands probably will be better quality and better price.

    Extremely Disappointed

    • Written by Maripaz M from San Jose

I've bought the BeatsX twice and both times, the headphones have stopped working within 9 months of purchasing them. The first time there was an issue with the battery and it would no longer connect to my devices. I figured since it was an Apple product it was simply defective and another pair would work just fine. I was wrong. I bought another pair and the same thing happened. It hasn't even been 9 months since I replaced the first pair and my new headphones no longer connect to my devices. Do not buy this product. I was extremely disappointed.

    A year of life

    • Written by Sarika S from Fullerton

I had high hopes for these ear buds but naturally after 1 year of life, they gave out on me. While they worked, they were great... after 1 year - they won't connect, stay on, or work. For the price paid, I would hope for a lot more life.

Worked for a few months but then stopped connecting. Tried reset on it and no effect. Price from 149 to 99 but hoping a version 2 is released sometime.

    Just as I thought: TRASH

    • Written by Loïc N from Gardner

I am on my 3rd pair! That’s right THIRD PAIR in 13 months.
I keep having to call Apple to replace mine and this very most recent time they asked me for $79.00 to replace them???? I think not! The first two times they had connectivity issues where they just wouldn’t stop unpairing with my devices and this most recent time they just lost sound completely in their right earphone. This is nothing to say about how inconvenient they were as a workout earphone considering they literally LOVE TO FALL OUT OF YOUR EAR and the stupid heavy band makes it impossible to run with them on a windy day as it drags them out of each ear with its weight. Just a complete WASTE OF MONEY. I guarantee nobody has ever gotten more than 6 months use out of these things without them crapping out.

Sad to see an "Apple" product that does not live up to Apple standards

    • Written by Mark W from Chicago

First pair of black BeatsX lasted one year then one side stopped working. Luckily i got a second pair of BeatsX as a bonus for buying a new computer. This second pair was white and after 18 months the sound stopped. i tried "resetting", no luck. The lights flashed red and white and everything looked like they should work, but no sound. I took them to the Apple store, and decided the fix was not worth it and bought a third pair. Third pair is Satin Silver. I am under no illusions after reading all the reviews on here. These headphones are only good for one year, then they die. At least the price dropped significantly this time, they were only $99. I also have AirPods and never had a problem with them after at least two years now. I have run them through the washing machine and drier, they still work perfectly. Only problem is I cannot use the AirPods on an airplane or in the gym because they do not block out the ambient noise, so i am forced to buy two pairs of earbuds. i wish BeatsX could fix the flaw in this product because they sound great and love the design and everything else about this product. I know it is hard to make a product like that that lasts. I used to use SkullCandy earbuds and they only lasted one year too. I wish they made AirPods with adapters that blocked out ambient noise when that situation is needed.

It amplified a lot of the noise and sounds pretty good. The battery lasts me a full day but sometimes it falls from my ear and it can get pretty uncomfortable sometimes.

First "beats" product I've owned. Paired to an iOS X phone. Turning them on and off is surprisingly difficult and after about 2 months, so annoying and difficult that I entirely regret this purchase and will replace. The sound quality is average / below average. They don't stay perfectly seated while running. Battery life is less than the pair I was looking to replace.

    Started so well

    • Written by Freyja P from Woking

Received these September 2018, very comfortable, sound quality great, battery life great.

Until they stopped working in February 2019. After searching online for possible reasons it seems that it is a common fault and many people have the same issue. I am now concerned that they will break again outside of my warrantee. Safe to say I would not buy these ever again or recommend anyone to buy these as they should last more than 6 months.

The only positive on sending them off for repair was that it was easy to do with a quick turnaround.

    BeatsX Earphones--Terrible durability

    • Written by Anna M from Green Brook

I'm writing a review for BeatsX Earphones I purchased just over a year ago. These earphones stop working at least every 6 months. First, the left earbud stopped playing sound twice, once 6 months after purchase, and again 5 months after replacement. Then just a month after the second replacement the third pair (second replacement) started flashing a pink light and would not maintain a Bluetooth connection. So I've spent $150 for a pair of earphones that won't even last 6 months. Once this pair is replaced, I'll just be waiting for it to break like the other pairs. Waste of time and money. Very frustrating experience, and has really turned me off of Beats earphones.
