    Will do for now...

    • Written by Paul K from Apple Valley

For now, this will do until another vendor comes out with a better one. What I do not like:

    No caps lock light
    No backlit keys
Cannot use voice recognition when the keyboard is activated <- BIGGEST ISSUE
Keys on the table when opened flat
    Price

Do not mind some complaints others have had, but the biggest is that I cannot use voice recognition.

Had a way better one for my iPad 2 at a fraction of the price.

The outside or backside due to its texture is hard to wipe clean?

    • Written by Robin D from Milwaukee

Disappointed that the smart keyboard folio doesn’t have a special shiny coating to help with the fingerprints, sticky fingers, etc Have to wipe it clean more often but somtetimes iit still looks dull and dirty. I would like to see a clear type of case to go over the smart follio part to help reduce the issues with keeping it clean. A shiny glossy type textuere is alot easier to wipe clean vs one that has a dull finish! The perfomance is fine but flaw of the outer backside makes it look ugly. Somtimes the magnegts don’t always hold and it falls out of the case.

Good keyboard, but need to be careful !

    • Written by Johan K

Good keyboard, but need to be careful because it is easy to detach your iPad from your keyboard.
My iPad has been detached from keyboard and the glass is broken (no warranty for the glass).
Apple need to modify and make the keyboard not easy to detach from iPad

Decent case but cover is starting to wrinkle

    • Written by Jeff H from Toronto

The functionality of the case is okay, but the pencil sticks on the side and is not covered. it’s pretty easy to have the pencil get knocked off and makes it awkward to hold. Also, the cover is starting to wrinkle just simply from holding it which is a bit annoying. Overall, it’s really the only case we can choose from that isn’t third party.

    Uncomfortable to use

    • Written by Suzanne V from Carlton

Disappointed that Apple have made this a simple fold back design, so that when you want to fold back the keyboard and use the iPad as a table, your fingers are clunkily all over the keys. Very clumsy, lazy design. The previous keyboard was much nicer. The product is also so stiff that I keep knocking it off the back of the iPad Pro when setting up to use it. Really disappointing. I wish there was a more elegant alternative that was a delight to use like other Apple stuff.

Works nicely as keyboard when actually in use though. Just clumsy the rest of the time.

    OK

    • Written by Jared J from Lynnwood

This keyboard cover is OK. My main gripe is honestly fit and finish. It doesn't have a nice premium feel to it that you expect from Apple, especially for the $200 price tag. It just feels like cheap ish plastic on the outside. And boy does it get smudges and fingerprints and shows everything. I am a clean freak so this drives me nuts. And it doesn't clean easily.

I do like the magnetic connection - although it is not super strong. Most everyday use it is fine - and I am very gentle on my electronic devices - but it does come out fairly easily when just doing normal things with it. It can be a little annoying sometimes. I like the viewing and use angles, no huge issues there.

I do love the keys themselves. It obviously doesn't have the feedback that a normal keyboard has, but I like it and it works great. I don't find it too cramped or small either. Typing on my lap is OK - but not as comfortable as a normal laptop. I feel like my legs have to be just enough closer together it can be uncomfortable. But not terrible.

Getting back to my first point, I am interested to see how this case holds up over time. I don't have high hopes that it will last two years+. But time will tell.

    Not great for flying

    • Written by Sarah A from Chesapeake

Like some other reviews I've read on here, I experienced the pure frustration of trying to do work on the plane on my new iPad only to be incessantly banging on the keyboard wondering why it is not working. After doing 4 plane rides with the keyboard, I have come to the conclusion that after reaching a certain altitude the keyboard stops connecting to the iPad (as the iPad brings up the on-screen keyboard in the Word app). I expect this is an issue that Apple is aware of, for when I brought the keyboard after the 14 days voicing my concerns, they took it back for a full refund with no problem. I am going to hold off buying a new Apple keyboard until they address this issue because other than this annoying problem, the keyboard was excellent and allowed me to not have to bring my laptop with me everywhere anymore.

For the price does not protect.

    • Written by Alan H from COLUMBIA

The keyboard is not a protective device for my new iPad pro! It has slipped out several times and fallen to the floor. No side protection or corner protection. Not good. I like the keyboard similar to my last Apple iPad keyboard. Will probably be looking for a more protective cover. For the price I would expect this to protect better my device better than it does. Perhaps the next iteration.

Good keyboard, but only serves maybe 3 of 5 purposes it should

    • Written by Jonathan U from Portland

Have been living with the 11" pro and keyboard-case for about two weeks now. Overall, keyboard functionality (the priority of this accessory) is as expected, having had the 9.7" pro with keyboard before. It has the same very-good key feel, and seems to benefit from larger key spacing, due to the keyboard's larger overall size, reducing typing errors. It feels more like my MacBook Pro. As for the other functionalities of the accessory, namely protection of the deceive itself, it leaves much to be desired compared to the previous generation, when pared with the matching silicone iPad case. First, while the magnets are quite strong, the case back frequently shifts off the device while in a bag, leaving it exposed to whatever it might be next too...I've already picked up a few scratches due to this, and it was only next to a book. Second, there is -NO- edge/corner protection, so I've somehow already picked up two tiny dents. Third, there is now only one way to hold the device in tablet mode (keyboard folded behind the device) without also pressing keyboard keys. While this doesn't do anything, it feels annoying. But most frustrating to my workflow, and condemning to its design, there is now no way to fold the case to give it a slight viewing/working angle toward you, with the device on a table, and the keyboard not in use...I now find myself propping a $1100 tablet with a $180 'case' up with my AirPod case. A pretty embarrassing workaround for a functionality that should have been baked-in, I'd say. BOTTOM LINE: this accessory is OK, but focuses on moving the iPad toward laptop functionality, and away from tablet functionality, while also not providing strong reassurance in reducing wear-and-tear damage.

    Disappointed

    • Written by Mark R from Spalding

So I ordered this together with the new Apple Pencil to go with my new iPad Pro 11 inch. Whilst I haven't used a keyboard much with previous iPads, I am looking to step up my digital note taking game so the idea of having a keyboard always there appealed. Besides I needed a case anyway.

So on the positive side, the case attaches to the iPad beautifully. The magnets are strong and it wraps around the whole thing whilst still allowing the pencil to remain attached. The keys are nice and it is nice to type on. Like many Apple products, "It Just Works"

But it also adds a lot of weight and bulk to the beautifully thin and light iPad making it feel much more like a Surface Pro when carried around the office. With this case attached, the whole thin and light design is lost and it becomes drab, thick and heavy. Even the material used feels sub par.

On top of this, when you fold the case back around on itself to use in tablet mode, the keyboard is left exposed so your hand is constantly pressing keys etc. Sure they aren't enabled in this mode but it's still uncomfortable and again, you are left with something that is thick and heavy and uncomfortable in your hand. Yes you could remove the case if you want to use it as just a tablet but that just isn't the way you expect to have to deal with Apple products.

On top of all of this, you are paying out a lot of money for this case.

So if you really use your iPad with a keyboard for many hours a day, writing stuff, this may be for you. The extra weight and bulk may be worth it but if you just like the idea of having the keyboard just in case, you may be disappointed like I was.

So I am now going down the route of the Apple Folio Case (sans keyboard) which is much thinner and lighter (but still made out of the same cheap feeling plastic) and chucking my Microsoft Folding Bluetooth Keyboard into my bag for the occasions when I do have lots to type.

YMMV but for me, for the price, I feel Apple didn't deliver something that matched the beauty of the iPad itself.

Interesting design, but left some desires.

    • Written by Jonathan B from Jamaica

    Pros:
    - Strong magnets
    - Precision fit
    - Back and front protection (finally)

    Cons:
    - No illuminated keys! (Logitech managed to do this for previous generation)
    - No color/leather options...yet.
    - No place to secure Apple Pencil.
