    Quit working

Only worked good for about 3 1/2 months now it takes forever to get it to work and I can't touch or move my phone. I have never had an apple product with this terrible of quality. For $50 should definitely last longer especially not used much and always put up when not in use. Would not recommend wasting your money.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

Outrageously expensive, worked OK, but now cuts out if you move it

Very lazy design, £40 is way too expensive for this. Why did Apple not mould the Lightning connector into the other end of the block so as to give a strong and rigid design. Most HDMI cables are heavy so inevitably the short stiff piece of cable that connects to the Lightning plug will be under bending loads however careful you are, and hence they fail early. Mine has lasted about 6 months and now cuts out if you so much as touch it - as have many other peoples if you read all the negative reviews. It actually worked very well before it started to break which is all the more frustrating. Shame on you Apple, selling expensive, poorly designed and badly made rubbish as accessories for your otherwise excellent kit. And there is no alternative source available as you have a monopoly. You should and can be so much better than this.

    Rubbish

I find it annoying that we are being forced to buy an item from a sole supplier when obviously other manufacturers can do it better (Belkin springs to mind). I used the adapter once and it failed on the second occasion (and I am not the only person to have this problem). So Apple, please give the licence to someone who know how to produce a reliable product and you stick to making things that you know about. (why is it not possible to give a zero star rating as that is a better reflection of the quality of this adapter?).

    Expensive failure

I bought one of these in January and while it worked well initially, after 8 months it just stopped working. If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be surprised, but at over £30 for a genuine Apple product, this is just not good enough. I am now trying to get a refund/replacement but have little faith that another one will do much better, particularly having read so many recent reviews showing these failing after only hours of use.
I used to think Apple produced a high quality product but my experience with this leaves me very much in doubt and I would be reluctant to spend any significant sum on any of their products if this is the level of quality I can expect.

Poor quality, not durable, ridiculously overpriced

Failed within just a couple of months of purchase. Drops connection, low volume, noisy, and not full HD. For the price I expected far better. Buying another because I apparently have no choice. BOO. Fail. Epic fail.

    What's the point?

This gave me issues right out of the box for my iPad Pro 9.7. "this view is not supported" is the message I get when I try to catch up on my favorites shows on abc go app. I had the older version of this for my iPad 3 and it worked great with everything. Not impress with the function nor the price. I will de retuning this for sure. But, now what are we supposed to do? Is there any option out there that works to just duplicate exactly what's on your screen to a TV?? I would give 0 stars if I could.

    s**t

Don't buy this lol. 40 quid and it just stopped working after a day. On top of that, while it did work, half the apps aren't supported anyway. Apple need to just swallow their pride and give the consumer what they want, FLEXIBILITY. A smart company would allow more experienced 3rd party cable companies to produce this kind of product rather than keeping exclusivity just to charge EXTORTIONATE prices for something that costs 20p to make, and doesn't even work. Poor form apple. poor form.

    Hot garbage

I've bought knock off electronics from swap meets and flea markets that work better and more consistently than this lump of junk. The only good thing about it is that it feeds my daily gambling needs betting on how it's going to disappoint me that day.

    Bad product

It worked for about a week then just quit working. I thought it was my lighting cord or my hdmi so I went and got new ones. But nope this 50$ cable crapped out on me in a week. I bought it to use with my radio in my car and it just dose not hold up well at all I do not recommend this product. Much cheaper and more effective to buy a knock off

    Worked for 4 months

Disappointed in the high price and short life span. I thought Apple would at least insure high quality. Maybe the fact that it dosn't work after the IOS 9.3.2 upgrade is the issue. This has me rethinking any future Apple purchases.

    Very short life span

I bought this MAYBE 6 months ago. It seemed like exactly what I needed, at first. Fast forward to a short time later and we have to try it over and over again, sometimes 30x's just to get it to start going on the tv. I'm very disappointed

    Not good

Quite unexpected for an Apple product. I bought it to use with and iPadAir2 and it worked for about 10 seconds.
Though disappointed, I tried it with my iPod Touch and at home with an HDMI connected to a Vizio TV it worked, but come presentation time using an HDMI projector even the iPod Touch failed to display the signal.

My suspicion is that the product is at the bleeding edge of specifications and thus highly unpredictable as to whether it will work with other devices.

The best news is Apple / FedEx makes it easy to return. ;)

    Not 1080p

Bought one yesterday. Used it to connect my iPad Pro 9.7 to a Samsung TV. I see the iPad screen on TV but it's not 1080p or sharp enough to enjoy. Waste of time and money.

    Not a real HDMI output

This is not really an HDMI port added to an mobile device, it's most like a hard-wired Apple-TV. It does not output the native Retina resolution and add some lag in the display. Was hoping to get something like the old VGA out for iPad 2 and other device that output real time video but no, this so far from that, can't be used to convert an iPad into a desktop device. Not recommended. Apple should release a TRUE REAL TIME, NATIVE RESOLUTION HDMI output adapter for iPad to compete with the MS Surface.

    Beware - doesn't work on IPad Air 2 with ISO 8.3 and 8.4!! Don't waste ££££

I bought this to connect my iPad Air 2 to my TV. At first it worked great and then following an IOS software update it stopped working. It shows the connector is attached with the blue bar appearing, but doesn't display on the TV anymore. It still works on my iPhone 5c (also a poor quality product) so clearly there is a problem with the software update and I'm very disappointed the latest (8.4) has not remedied the compatibility. I've not updated the iPhone software and assume if I did this expensive connector would be totally redundant.

Apple you should change the compatibility statement until you fix the problem, instead of allowing your customers to waste £40!!!!
