Q: End of my rope!!

I have quite nearly given up on Apple today. I have been trying to update the iOS for my iPhone 6 for at least 4 hours now. In order to download any of the apps I need, I need a software update of at least iOS 10. My phone is only operating via iOS 8.3. I have tried everything from updating it through my phone AND my PC to factory resetting the whole thing and nothing will work. I don't understand what the problem is and I am at my wits end!
