The drive is showing as unreadable and macOS has failed to repair it. I have never encountered issues this substantial in a new drive before and given the obviously higher than usual price point I expected quality. I am sorry to say I was mistaken.

You can connect the drive to a USB-3 & USB-C to USB-C connector (e.g. USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter), then use the connector to connect to external power and the MacBook. Not very elegant. With these caveats, the drive seems good; nice to have 4 TB for big cameras.

Initially they performed well, speed is not great, max is 110-120MB/s on both USB-C and USB 3.0. After a few weeks one disk that I had designated for scratch disk purposes occasionally unmounted. Didn't think about it much, as it didn't;t cause any issues, then few months later both drives started to fail to mount on start-up, restart and then they'd appear. Then the strangest part the other drive where all my data and work are stored becomes unresponsive from time to time whilst I'm using the computer. It then hangs the entire computer until I pull the cable out and plug it back in. Overall not very impressed with these drives, will stick to Seagate external (which owns LaCie), transfer speeds are better and they don't become unresponsive during live work! Bizarre!

      Excellent!

The included setup file offers a partitioning option, which can be one or two partitions, either all Mac, or one for Mac and one shared that will work with Mac and Windows, and the size of each is adjustable. I made a 3.5 TB partition for Mac and a 500 GB partition shared. The drive works very well with an iMac, and the transfer rates are very fast, saving video clips of over 1 GB in just a few seconds (using Thunderbolt cable). Large video files on the drive play smoothly on the iMac. Even during continuous use, the drive doesn't vibrate at all, and barely gets warm. The edges of the case are smooth to the touch, and an added bonus is that the silver color matches the color of the iMac and Super Drive nicely. The drive is small, and fits discreetly and stylishly below the iMac. Even though it is a portable drive, it will stay with my iMac, mostly for video files. I am very satisfied with this little drive. It works great, looks great, has plenty of storage space, and I would buy it again if the need arises.
