I ended up paying an electrician to install the unit as I wasn’t comfortable doing it myself. Took about 30 mins to install. The T6 connects to your home using WiFi so it needs to be in range of your WiFi signal. The Honeywell App works well enough but if you’re buying this for HomeKit compatibility you’ll want use HomeKit and the Home app instead for the security and ease of manageability. I’m pleased to say that as of iOS11, you can automate the temperature at a time or day of your choosing as much as you like. You can geofence the temperature depending whether you’re home or not and of course control the temperature manually from your iPhone / iPad. If you have Apple TV4 (or later) or a HomePod all of these activities and automations work when you’re not at home too. The only thing you need the Honeywell app for is for initial setup of the T6 and to enable the ‘Optimise’ setting. This learns how long your home takes to heat up. This means you can configure a time when you like the house to be a certain temperature by. I set my house to be 22c by 7am. I highly recommend the Honeywell T6 Thermostat.
