  • Overview

The Lightwave Smart Lighting Kit comes with a Lightwave Smart dimmer and Link Plus hub — everything you need to get started with Lightwave smart lighting that’s controllable from your iPhone or iPad.

    Smart dimmers

Lightwave Smart dimmers are finished in sleek stainless steel and look as good as any other standard decorative dimmer. Built-in Lightwave technology allows you to monitor and control the dimmers from anywhere using your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or with voice control via Apple HomeKit (app control requires Lightwave Link Plus).

    Smart features

Using the Lightwave app, you can set your favourite lighting scenes, check if lights have been left on, and monitor the amount of energy that is being used. You can even lock the dimmers so that they automatically turn off after a short time — great for saving energy. The dimmers are soft start, and are compatible with the vast majority of dimmable LED lamps.*

    Easy DIY installation

Lightwave devices are easy to DIY install; there’s no extra wiring necessary, as each dimmer is a simple straight swap for your existing one. Other devices are plug and play and no special tools are required. All devices are legal to install in your own home without the help of an electrician, although always consult a suitably qualified expert if you are unsure. Lightwave also offers free dedicated support over the phone.

But that is what I have, a dimmer switch. Adding it the the Apple Homekit is near on impossible. The Lightwave app is clunky, not intuitive. Trying to login to the web app on my MAC is impossible. I can login to the app on my iPhone X, but not in Safari. Their software is miles behind such things like Philiips Hue. Apple why are we endorsing this on your website?

Not suitable for sale as advertised

"Built-in energy monitoring hel Many of the advertised features do not work, and Lightwave RF just fob you off, this product was launched 3 months ago yet... "Built-in energy monitoring helps you to track your electricity consumption and save energy and money" is nowhere to be found "Create timers and automations to turn lights on/off automatically at dawn and dusk or for security when you leave the house" is not an option, this product will currently not integrate with any other service so there is no way for it to know you have left the house "Lock the dimmers so that they automatically turn off after a few minutes to save energy" is untrue, the lock in the app only disables the physical buttons on the switch Google home and IFTTT integration have been promised since launch but still no sign. It has the potential to be the right choice when it is finished, but based on the progress they have made so far, that could be years away

I would say you have to follow the instructions carefully (I did get a bit of help from my father-in-law) but I couldn't be happier with it so far. With my GU10s I can get full brightness for cooking or nice and cosy for eating and anyone can operate the switch on the wall... doesn't have to be done through HomeKit every time.

Quick to respond home kit devices that are fairly simple to install

It was all fairly straightforward to install with no issues one I'd replaced my lamps with led dimmable versions. The response is almost instantaneous, both using the switch and Siri. The only downside is the lightwave app is a bit 'clunky' and (unless I'm missing something) limited in setting automations. Overall I would recommend.
