  • Overview

A marvel of engineering and design, the drone in the DJI Mavic Air Fly More Combo pack is built to go wherever adventure and your iPhone or iPad take you. This ultra-portable and foldable drone inherits the best of DJI’s Mavic series, featuring high-end flight performance and functionality for nearly limitless exploration. The Fly More Combo also helps you stay in the air even longer by providing extra batteries and spare propellers. Now you can give your life epic perspective with 32 MP Sphere panoramas, HDR photos, 4K 30 fps 100Mbps video and 1080p 120 fps slow-motion video.

32 MP Sphere panoramas take you beyond the horizon

The DJI Mavic Air shoots and stitches together 25 photos in eight seconds to create crystal-clear 32 MP Sphere panoramas. It also supports multiple pano modes including horizontal, vertical and 180°. You can even view panoramas from an immersive perspective with DJI Goggles (sold separately).

    Three-axis gimbal camera

The Mavic Air’s onboard camera integrates a 1/2.3-inch 12-megapixel CMOS sensor and an f/2.8 lens with a 24 mm-equivalent focal length to shoot high-quality photos and videos. The Mavic Air is also one of the most portable DJI drones to house a three-axis gimbal.

    4K 100 Mbps and slow-motion video

Shoot video at an incredible 4K 30 fps, recording at 100 Mbps to capture every second with UHD quality. And thanks to Mavic Air’s support for recording 1080p 120 fps slow-motion video, you can seize all your epic high-speed adventures.

    HDR photos

New HDR algorithms help you obtain the right exposure settings intelligently, according to lighting conditions. Overexposed or dark areas are processed for more natural transitions between highlights and shadows, while DSP acceleration allows for more efficient shooting.

    Internal storage

In addition to a Micro SD card slot, 8 GB of internal storage lets you save photos and videos directly to the aircraft and export files through its USB 3.0 Type-C port.

    Compact and foldable

As tall and wide as an iPhone when folded, the Mavic Air is an ultra-portable drone that stretches the boundaries of what’s possible for a device its size. Even the dedicated remote controller uses a foldable, low-profile, ergonomic design to hold your iPhone for maximum convenience. Detachable control sticks store inside the remote controller to pack more comfortably on the go.

    SmartCapture

Fun, simple and intuitive, SmartCapture offers a new and interactive way of controlling the Mavic Air by hand. Launch and control the drone with hand gestures, then take photos or videos however you like.

    Intelligent flight modes

The Mavic Air features all the great Intelligent Flight Modes from other DJI drones, like ActiveTrack, QuickShot and TapFly. ActiveTrack has been improved, two new QuickShots have been added and with the Mavic Air’s rear vision sensors you can use TapFly to fly backwards.

The app to control it, however, lets it down. The app takes up a huge amount of room on an iPhone. You will find that a 16Gb phone will struggle to accommodate it. There's a full blown video and image editor included which must form a massive part of the app, most serious photographers will use their own computer-based editing suites as a phone is bound to struggle, so it is dead weight. Unfortunately, there is no provision for removing this part of the app and it just fills up the storage. Also, on a phone, there seems to be no reason to have all the minute detail on a screen so small, it's impossible to read half of it. The review sites for the app are full of woe and tales of it crashing (the app, not the drone!). I'm not surprised by this. I've turned off all the automatic downloads from the drone to the phone to avoid putting too much pressure on it. All the media is recorded anyway onto the drone SD card so it can be removed and processed later. DJI ought to be providing an app for this drone that is proportional to the kind of controller that will be used with it, lighter and smaller in the case of the iPhone. Instead they have just this one-size-fits-all app that encompasses all of their drones, including the professional range. It has not been thought out very well.

Abysmal (dangerous to fly) since FW update 01.00.0400

When I got this drone, it was on firmware 01.00.0300, and like many have stated here, it was an AMAZING drone that I instantly fell in love with, and took it ou When I got this drone, it was on firmware 01.00.0300, and like many have stated here, it was an AMAZING drone that I instantly fell in love with, and took it out whenever I could, to fly, and to capture STUNNING cinematography! That all ended when DJI released 01.00.0400 to address some "critical" issue in .0300, and then prevented us from rolling back to the old firmware. Now, MANY Mavic Air owners suffer from the following issues: - Yaw rolls 15-25 degrees on takeoff - Hover is unstable and drone often drifts away even with maximum GPS satellite locks and fully calibrated compass and IMU - ActiveTrack spontaneously decides to dive bomb the tracked subject, resulting in injuries - Constant Motor Current Errors now occurring, resulting in unstable flight, and near crashes - Strong Signal Interference errors causing the video feed and controls to cut out, at as close as 10ft, and drone losing signal around 300ft out The DJI support forums and MavicPilots.com boards are FILLED with people complaining of this issue, yet DJI "support" has been anything but. If DJI hardware and design was referred to as the Apple of the drone world, their support department is the anti-thesis of that! Buyer beware, steer clear until DJI gets their act together and releases new firmware! And even then, be prepared to be on your own if anything goes wrong, DJI doesn't actually support their products.
