I have been using an Apple LED Cinema Display (24") with my 2008 Mac Pro, and it's replacement, a 2018 Mac Mini. Needless to say, I was due for a new monitor. I I have been using an Apple LED Cinema Display (24") with my 2008 Mac Pro, and it's replacement, a 2018 Mac Mini. Needless to say, I was due for a new monitor. I was holding out for a new Apple monitor that I hoped would show up at WWDC 2019, but not only is the new Apple monitor outside of any rational home budget, it's much too large for my home workspace. This is about as plain as monitors get, but the panel itself is gorgeous, the setup seamless with the Mac Mini and the speakers sound surprisingly good. The first gen LG monitors had issues, they updated the 27" version to fix those if Amazon reviews are to be believed, but why pay 2X for marginally more real estate. And the 20" LG, now discontinued was too small. The Mac Mini + LG Ultrafine 24" is the iMac 24" we've never had. BTW, if I was still working (I'm retired), I would love this monitor with a MacBook on my office desk. The monitor comes with the cable needed for the Mac Mini 2018 or latest MacBook Pro. It also includes a VESA mount adapter. And a stand :).

Exactly what I was looking for.

Sufficient power i I was upgrading from a 10 year old Samsung 21” monitor. The difference is amazing. Gorgeous picture with much better detail than the old one. Sufficient power in the Thunderbolt 3 ports to charge my 2018 MacBook Pro as well as run a UA Arrow audio interface with no lag whatsoever. The downside I read in some reviews was the lack of camera, but I just put my existing HD USB camera on top and ran it with a USB-C interface plug to one of the other ports. The stand pops off easily with one locking slide, and the VESA plate pops in so I can use my existing mount. I have not tested the internal speakers, so I’m not going to comment on those. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

It's a really nice bright glossy panel with a really good wide colour range. The design is rather boring and the bezels a tad thick, but really happy with this display overall.

      Find another monitor

Apparently, through my research, OK- I have had this beautiful monitor for four months and well there's a serious defect that LG and Apple are not telling us. Apparently, through my research, the RFI ( radio frequency interference) shielding on the monitor is defective and because of that, the monitor goes off and then back on at random intervals. Very frustrating. I have installed RFI reduction magnetics on every cord, I've purchased copper fabric and draped it over the monitor, moved equipment, etc. My router is 6 ft away from the monitor, my MacBook Pro within 2 ft, as that makes sense right? I have tried to cover, move and hide every electrical device near the monitor - which OBTW is a lot, because, well I have a computer. OK - just got off the phone with senior customer support advisor Sean. He said call LG it's an LG product. I said, but I bought from Apple with the understanding (come to find out is wrong) that Apple vetted the products they sell. Sean said they did not. Nice.
