works perfectly once I changed camera communication setting

I was ready to send the adapter back, because I really need it for the EOS, my main camera- I am going to England this summer and am only taking my iPad Mini, not my laptop, so have to have some way to back up photos (losing photos due to a lost/damaged card, camera, etc would be beyond tragic) Then I read the review that suggested going to the camera's menu and changing the Communication setting from Normal to PTP. Tada!! Success - the pictures loaded right up, I am very happy, and the adapter does not have to go back to Apple.

      works perfectly

I was worried about the previous reviews, but I am totally satisfied with this product. it works with my Canon EOS DSLR and also with my old Olympus Camedia. I think people may be having problems with their camera's not being fully charged up when they try to transfer.

I just connect it to my iPad mini, turn on the camera, and it automatically uploads the files. I believe if you are shooting in RAW, it uses the jpeg generated by the camera. Fantastic!

Lightning to USB adapter works just fine

I think most issues people are having is the user not understanding how to set up devices. I connected my Sony RX100 MK1 which is 6yrs old to my iPhone 7plus an I think most issues people are having is the user not understanding how to set up devices. I connected my Sony RX100 MK1 which is 6yrs old to my iPhone 7plus and the message about not supporting power came up. This is because the camera isn’t turned on! In the camera menu setting I have USB connection set to auto and USB power set to on. So it goes like this. Turn camera off and connect cables to both phone and camera. If the power supply message is displayed then just press ok. Now turn the camera on. If you have a compact camera with retractable lens, the lens will stay retracted and a message on the camera screen will come up that USB mode is on and mass storage is accessed. Photos app will open on the phone and an Import button will be visible in bottom right corner. Images from the camera will be on the phone screen. There is various options for selecting images to import. You can even choose or create an album to import to. When finished close app and turn off camera. And now disconnect cables. It will be the same process for any digital camera and iphone or iPad.

How I figured this out I don't know. Thank you to all of you out there who provided clues that a cell phone doesn't want to provide power to a power hungry camera.
