    Ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Extreme gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.1 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-design

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Extreme now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-setup

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Extreme and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-share

Share your hard drive or printer.

AirPort Extreme can turn any external USB hard drive into a secure drive you can share across your Wi-Fi network. So all the documents, videos, photos and other files instantly become available to anyone, Mac and PC users alike. You can even connect a printer and share it wirelessly.

    Compatibility and security.

Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme. That’s because it’s compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n and 802.11ac specifications. And since AirPort Extreme features a built-in firewall that protects your network from malicious Internet attacks, you can enjoy the web with peace of mind.

Excellent range, superb speeds, quick and easy set up, looks great. Supports local loopback feature which I really needed, the old standard package router I used to use has nothing on this new AirPort Extreme. Looking forward to using 802.11ac devices with it. Highly recommended, overall a great buy.

Delighted so far, setup was straightforward, done in less than 10 minutes from opening the box. Gigabit ethernet is delivering the full bandwidth from my cable modem for the first time and the wireless coverage is uniformly excellent in my thick walled and three storey Victorian terrace, noticeably quicker for my n capable devices. I don't have any ac devices yet to test those even higher speeds. Wireless sharing of a Kodak printer also working as hoped. Happy to recommend - nice job Apple.

I thought I was having internet connection issues with my cable provider but turns out it is the airPort Extreme. Too bad, I like apple compatibility and simplicity but the reliability for this product is not there. I do not recommend this.

And spent some time talking to Apple by phone and at the store. Finally pulled the trigger on an Extreme and two Expresses, and so far the system is working flawlessly. Setup was as easy as advertised. Took me two minutes to set up each device using my iPhone. A firmware update occurred without affecting the system. So far I have excellent wifi reception throughout the house and on the back patio - even next door to the in-laws house. Better than what I had with the Verizon router and a 2G/5G wifi extender. And only one network name instead of three. I've moved both Expresses twice to optimize coverage, and within 90 seconds each was back up and running. Moved the Apple products over to the new wifi first, and setup was a snap. Have also migrated Nest products with no problem. We'll have to wait and see if I run into problems after 12-18 months as some reviewers have experienced. So far I couldn't be more happy.

The signal is strong, we have our 2 DVR's, desktops, security camera, thermostat and so on connected, in other words, the unit is under constant 'strain' and the performance has held up well. We had one minor issue where our devices couldn't connect to it, so we took it the apple store and they performed a master reset, and the problem went away!
