Both times I'm unsure how it happened and they're not exactly cheap to replace

      Not your typical USB-C cable

Transfers data slowly and doesn't support video.

These stick out perpendicular to the computer -so if you read sideways in bed they will crimp and fail. I also sit cross legged and work on my computer and again that stresses the cable. Even with awareness of their vulnerability I still can't manage to keep these in good shape. They turn yellow around the joint and fail after about 3 months. Honestly, Apple should be embarrassed about the design of these. Except, I can't help but think this is a case of the razor blades vs the razor, surely they must know. This must be away to make money. Otherwise how do you explain the bad design when they are so Design Proud? The brick charger is even more of a joke come to think of it.

      Misleading marketing

Not really given it's only USB 2 and Macs have used USB 3 for years now. The cable has lasted me fairly well with light use and it's good that it can handle the 87W needed for my MacBook Pro. I find it funny how any apple product with a usb-c style port is listed, as compatible as it's only a charge cable and I really hope its not 'compatible' for charging an iMac Pro. Certainly wouldn't bother trying to use this for data transfer as AirDrop is faster
