  • Overview

    Thin, minimal design.

The lightweight, durable Smart Cover protects your iPad screen without covering up its aluminium back. So your iPad still looks and feels like an iPad — just with a little extra protection.

    Polyurethane design.

The Smart Cover is made of polyurethane. It also features a soft, colour-matched microfibre lining that helps keep your display clean.

    Magnetic connection.

A hinge magnetically aligns the Smart Cover with iPad for a perfect fit, while magnets inside help it stay put.

    Keyboard stand.

The Smart Cover does double duty as a keyboard stand. Fold it back to tilt iPad into a comfortable writing position.

Wake on open. Sleep on close.

Open the Smart Cover and iPad magically wakes up. Close it and iPad automatically goes to sleep.

    FaceTime and film stand.

The Smart Cover folds in just the right places to become the perfect FaceTime and film-watching stand.

Worse than the iPad Pro 9.7" Smart Cover.

I bought this Smart Cover and found that it's very annoying! I always take good care of my Apple Products and all of them are in Perfect Condition! However, this Smart Cover ruined my iPad. The place where the Smart Cover's magnet attached to, scratched by the Smart Cover, not 1 scratch, but 3 scratches! I don't understand what material is this. I wiped the Smart Cover with wet tissues before attaching it to the iPad so that it's dust free! So that means it's the material of the Smart Cover which causes the scratches. Besides, the magnet of the Smart Cover is not as strong as the iPad Pros'. Definitely not worth it. Think about it before buying! [This is my personal experience, doesn't mean that all the Smart Covers will have the same problems.]

I wanted a full case (back and cover) but the smart cover is currently the only option. The magnet is so weak that it won't hold the iPad upright horizontally and won't stay connected when holding it vertically in one hand. Incredibly over-priced at $40 and useless to boot.

I do not understand the other reviewers commenting on the magnet because the magnet is so strong I couldn’t have STOPPED IT from attaching to my iPad. This product only safeguards the front, which is silly to me, but I also get that the back of the iPad is very beautiful and it’s sad to cover it up. I just think there should be something in the main description about this because I’m not surprised shoppers would think it covers the entire device.

Pros: - it’s slim and elegant, does not add builk to your iPad; - magnets align perfectly and it feels like Jobs described it - like the iPad was designed from day one with the cover in mind and vice-versa; - it has a smooth interior that cleans the screen whilst the cover is locked; - easy to clean. Cons: - the magnets come undone if you hold it horizontally and latch the cover to the back of the device, your cover is left dangling; - the magnets come undone if you apply a bit of pressure to it whilst in tent mode; - protection is minimal - just the front; To me, the main point of this is not to offer protection but to prop your iPad while you use it. I have no problem with it not covering the full device (there are plenty of covers that do this), but what really disappoints me is the fact that I am sitting on a desk with the iPad slowly raised and typing on it and the cover comes undone and collapses the whole thing. It was so embarrassing that a girl sitting in front of me started laughing at how clumsy this thing is. It’s unacceptable for such an expensive cover. Please make the magnets stronger.
