  • Overview

The Beddit 3 Sleep Monitor automatically tracks your sleep and works with the Beddit app on your iPhone or iPad to help you achieve better sleep. Unlike activity trackers, Beddit is completely ambient so there’s no need to wear or charge it. The thin, flexible and soft sensor is unnoticeable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress. It senses and automatically begins tracking when you lie down on the bed — collecting and analysing sleep-related data such as sleep time and efficiency, heart rate, respiration, temperature, movement, snoring, room temperature and room humidity.

    Understand your sleep patterns better

The Beddit app delivers personalised insights and customisable sleep coaching to help you improve your sleep. In addition, the Beddit Smart Alarm provides the most accurate method of detecting the optimal time to awaken you from sleep.

    How it works

Beddit technology is based upon a scientific principle known as ballistocardiography (BCG), an unobtrusive, non-invasive technique for measuring the mechanical activity of the heart, lungs and other body functions. Each time the heart beats, the acceleration of blood through the circulatory system generates a mechanical impulse that can be measured and analysed. Throughout the night, Beddit tracks each individual heartbeat and respiration cycle. Beddit’s advanced analysis and machine-learning algorithms adapt differently to each body type and provide detailed sleep data.

    Highlights

Automatically tracks sleep as well as heart rate, average resting heart rate, respiration, movement and snoring

Thin, flexible, soft sensor is undetectable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress

No need to wear anything like activity trackers, sensors or other gadgets

Beddit Sleep Score combines sleep quality and sleep quantity data into one easy-to-understand number

    Tracks room temperature and humidity

Works on any bed, any size mattress, and with one or two people in the bed (requires two sensors for tracking two people)

The sensor is removable for travel

Works with Apple Watch to deliver Sleep Score every morning, and track a nap if the Sleep Score was too low

Delivers sleep data to Apple Health app

The first time it died, I called Apple and they replaced it quickly. The second sensor didn’t make 3 months. I think there is some problem with the design, because reviews on Amazon frequently mention the same thing.

Excellent Service - Poorly Made Product

Briefly, the device tends to work well at first and then goes through a consistent failure sequence starting with the heart rate monitor. Customer service was great and clearly was aware that they had a problem with defective units. Sadly, both replacements went through the same failures. Really wanted this to work but it’s just not a solid product.

Beddit has helped identify sleeping problems, but heart sensor broke

I found the heart recording the most useful showing the continuous heart rate through the whole night. A good night's rest shows a gradually slowing heart rate through the night, but it is not working any longer (after 6 or so months). When Beddit is working it is fabulous and quite useful, but it appears to be quite fragile. It should last more than 6 months. Apple has been so good with their other products - maybe they can improve the longevity of this product as well. It would have 5 stars if not for the fragile heart sensor.

Works well for a while, then a throw away. Not durable.

Apple does not offer replacement sensor strips, so you just have to throw the whole thing away.. A replacement sensor strip without the cover, fancy packaging or USB plug should be available and should be cheap. I received better support when the founder owned the company instead of Apple.

The worst product, the worst support

I started to have perfect scores even in sleepless nights. I wrote to Beddit they accepted the problem and they wanted to pay back, they said the new beddit will come out in 6 months and all current version is faulty. Then they could not pay back as they only could pay to Pay Pal not to credit cards or wire transfer but Pay Pal does not work in Turkey. Then Apple bought and beddit support stopped responding. I called Apple several times they did not want to help, such a shame:( I bought two bedsits for nothing. What I can not understand how apple continues to sell this product. STAY AWAY!!!
