The specs page says: "Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network."
I have three 802.11n Macs -- two MacBook Airs and a new iMac.
Is there any practical benefit in upgrading to an 802.11 ac Air Port?
I don't want to buy any new computers (let alone 3 new computers!)

802.11ac only uses the 5GHZ band.
a/b/g use the 2.4GHZ band.
The router supports dual band so you can run two wifi networks one a/b/g on 2.4GHz and ac on 5GHz.
This way older devices cannot slow down the speed and range.
