Great keyboard and great back case.

    • Written by John R from Hammond

I love the keyboard, its fantastic to type on.
The Pencil holder is also great.
Back case for the actual iPAD is also great and adds nice protection.
The kick stand works awesome providing great angles for viewing movies and typing. Although portrait mode is a bit tippy.
The buttons on the case work great, turning the iPAD on and off is easy and makes a nice click sound.
When the keyboard is disconnected the iPAD still feels nice in your hand, making playing games still very good.

So, why only 3 stars then?

    1. The keyboard comes detached from the iPad easily. I have drop the keyboard portion quite often because of it. I have a very small crack in the keyboard case because of it. I still want to be able to disconnect the keyboard, but not this easily.
    2. In some instance the keyboard becomes disconnected from the iPad (not working). When this happens you have to disconnect and reconnect the keyboard. Easy to solve, but still a pain.
    3. When closed, the keyboard twists and shifts on the iPAD. I think this is because of the cloth/rubber type hinge they are using to attach the magnet portion.

Would I buy an other YES. But only because at the moment there are not other better options with all the same features.

It Depends On What You Want...

    • Written by Lynn G from Duluth

I love this case, because I was looking for great protection for my new super-expensive iPad Pro. I was also looking for an amazing, responsive, full-size keyboard that works flawlessly with iOS, and a case that has a place to keep my Apple Pencil handy and safe. I wanted a keyboard case that would give me the ability to use my iPad Pro in place of my MacBook... and yet one that would also easily sit on my lap, without the keyboard, so I can read in bed. I found all of these things in this Logitech Slim Combo case. It is perfect for me, and I could not be happier.
Regarding all the complaints here.... people should not dis this case just because they are looking for something else. If you want solid protection, a great keyboard, support for your Apple Pencil, and versatility for holding/viewing/maneuvering, then you will love this case.

Better then what Apple has right now

    • Written by Rick P from West Lafayette

Is this case perfect? No. There isn't a perfect case for an iPad. Because we are all different. But this one by Logitech suits me just fine. Is it a bit heavier, yea. But it will protect your iPad from a fall off of a desk, your lap, etc. Try that with what Apple offers.

These negative reviews I just don't get. I think the name for this case, the slim combo, should be changed. No, it's not slim. But give me a break. I want a keyboard. If I want a case for protection, I would order the otterbox. Which I have. I got this keyboard case, for the keyboard. Not the case. Logitech is second to none when it comes to keyboards.

Apple simply isn't in the keyboard market. At least not seriously. When looking for a keyboard, you should get what you like. What fits you needs. This keyboard does all of these things for me. The backlight is great. There are several special function keys for quick access to other things like music selection, for one.

I gave this product a five star rating because it's not perfect. But for me, it's pretty darn close. To some who reviews this, it seems to me they can't be pleased. I would recommend this case to anyone. I wouldn't recommend they go by the reviews. This goes with many products though.

Get this case. If you don't like it, return it. After using it for a couple of days, you will like it. No doubt about that.

    A Most Unhappy Surprise

    • Written by Richard S from Grand Rapids

Normally I like Logitech's accessories very much. This floppy mess however is--bar none--the worst accessory of any brand I have EVER purchased. To begin with, it looks, feels, and acts like a cheap piece of hastily designed cheap plastic. There's not much problem with it while sitting at a table while using it. Not sure how many users do that often, since most of us use a laptop for that experience, and using it on your lap is just awful. I really can't get over what a terrible product this is, especially considering it's been paired with the "world beater" that is the iPad Pro 10.5. Brilliant tablet! Awful, awful keyboard case. Absolutely ruins the whole experience...and just to be clear, I blame Apple just as much as Logitech for this mess. THEY made the decision to carry this junk product.

    Expectations too high

    • Written by Mark C from Farragut

I’ve had iPads since they were introduced and upgraded from iPad Air 2 with very high expectations of using a keyboard and the Pro and new iOS 11 for more “real work”. The only disappointment has been this keyboard / combo but I think it’s mostly due to my own inflated expectations. I’d been listening for some time to podcasts extolling the virtues of Logitech keyboards and I’d heard some of the issues with the Apple keyboard. So seeing the name for this one when ordering the 10.5 pro, I thought it’d be perfect. Backlight, full-stroke feel, etc. Here are my opinions/experience, some of which differ from many reviewers:

+ Keyboard “feel” when typing - pretty good. Better than other Apple keyboards I’ve had.
    + Backlighting - nice!
+ Full protection when both back and keyboard are closed around the iPad
+ I actually like the “lip” around the back case, because when you don’t have the keyboard connected, the screen is exposed and the lip gives me a bit more of a secure grasp when carrying the ipad. I’ve also dropped the iPad once (gasp) and the lip protected the screen.
+ Love, love, love the stand in the back that everyone keeps complaining about. Maybe it will get looser over time, that’s a worry, but it’s extremely sturdy now and very adjustable to a range of angles. I do not type on my iPads on my lap though. I always hated doing so with laptops as well and won’t do it. So yes, if you really like to type on your lap, this isn’t for you. But if you like to put it on a flat surface in front of you and adjust it to that “just right” angle for the viewing you prefer at that particular moment (table, countertop, airline tray table, on the bed beside you) it’s great! Other ipad stands I’ve had over the years force you to pick from just a few fixed elevation angles. And those sometimes wear out over time too.
+ I like having a secure place for the pencil. I’m really afraid of losing the darn thing. I can’t seem to hang on to any pencil or pen I use. I love the pencil too by the way — you gotta get one if you have a Pro.

    - Biggest frustration — by far — to me is the darn “lock screen” key in the upper right. I just can’t get used to it. Many’s the time I go to hit the delete key with my right pinkie and hit the lock screen key which is just above the delete. Extremely frustrating to be in mid-thought while typing and had the iPad go black and lock on you! Maybe over time I can retrain my fingers enough so that it isn’t much of a problem (I’ve had to get used to many keyboards over time including Apple’s own so I know I’m trainable). I currently cycle between 4 different keyboards between work, laptops, and ipad. None of the other 3 shut down on me if I hit the wrong key though... Right now I’d be much happier if I could disable it or change the functionality or triggering somehow. Maybe a double-tap to cause it to lock or something.
    - It is bulkier when closed than I thought it would be. My interpretation of “slim” is much slimmer anyway.
    - Ditto for weight. Heavier than I expected.
    - The plastic keyboard does feel a little cheap but not as bad as some imply.
    - No escape key. Now I’m not entirely sure that’s so bad with the iPad. I use it all the time with laptops and desktops, but the OS and applications tend to encourage it to get out of something. On the iPad you simply touch somewhere else. I’m still getting used to the keyboard/touch-the-screen sort of interaction needed with an iPad+keyboard so maybe with time that feeling of missing the escape key will go away.

So, again, I think my own expectations led to my middling review. Over time I may come to love it as I get used to it. However the pro, OS 11, pencil along with the functionality of keyboard have me pretty happy right now!

    Terrible keyboard, Worst customer service

    • Written by Will W from South San Francisco

The design of the keyboard is so-so, but acceptable. it served me well for about a month; before the keyboard just decided to stop working. No form of resets, or updates to the iPad could get it to work. I tried to get it replaced by Logitech, and 2 weeks into it, I'm still going round and round through their generic email responses. Worst Logitech product I have ever owned, wish I had waited for something better to come along.

    Nice concept, failed execution

    • Written by Thomas F from Camanche

First off, I'm a huge fan of Logitech's create keyboard case. I loved it on my ipad pro 9.7". The slim combo for the ipad pro 10.5" was a terrible case. I like what Logitech was going for, but they didn't quiet get there. First off the thing is huge! it's not slim in any way. it easily quadrupled the thickness of the ipad, making it bigger than a mac book. it's very well protected, but looks terrible and is heavy. they put a rounded back on the piece that the ipad sits in. WHY? When using the ipad by itself and you go to set it down, it sits there and rocks. Granted you can set it face down...It has a huge lip that protects the screen, but if you're trying to write with apple pencil, forget it. the keyboard was good, but detached very easily. Overall, i was shocked that Logitech put that case out.

Thin to thick. Beware, nowhere near slim.

    • Written by Nain D from Purley

I like the idea that the keyboard and back casing can be separated. Very handy and can be rotated several ways. I also like the backlit keyboard, ideal in low light situation. However, all these good things about the casing, could not justify the bulkiness of the slim combo. I don't know why they've got the word "slim" on it? It's simply misleading. Might be ok for some, but definitely not for me.

    Best case/keyboard combo available.

    • Written by J B from Jamaica

I usually prefer to stick with Apple's own accessories, but they have no solution for protecting the back of my 10.5" iPad. I search through the web for hours. Logitech has the best solution, but I find their keyboard a bit thick, and there is a gap between it and the screen when closed.
    The Good:
    - Protects the back of the iPad.
    - Ports as easily accessible.
    - Keyboard does not need charging!
    - Apple Pencil holder
    - Built-in stand

    The Bad:
    - Case edges extrude upwards about 0.5 centimeters over screen surface. This gap increases between keyboard and screen when closed, adding to thickness and bulky appearance
    - Inner side of case is hard plastic. I will update if any crashes appear on the 'protected' side.
    - I don't like the fabric they used for the underside of keyboard. I think a rubberized material would be better. Also, some adding some rubber to the kick stand would improve grip.
    - Ergonomics... Imagine you are outside and just want to read on your iPad. You may pretend the keyboard is part of the book, or you will have to disconnect and place somewhere. Apple's keyboard can easily swing around to the back.

Overall, there is no better option out there IF you need a keyboard AND full protection.

Update: I ordered an Apple Smart Cover so I can leave the keyboard at the office and protect the screen.

    Very disappointed

    • Written by REID M from Blacksburg

I bought the keyboard as it was available early and from Apple. I had also used a logitech keyboard case for my Air 2 and it was great. The positives were a useful and sturdy kickstand as it will stand up almost anywhere. The keyboard is great to type on when on an appropriately hard and sturdy surface. Having a pencil sleeve was nice.

Sadly, I could not use it on my lap and the keyboard worked best on things like a table or desk. It was flimsy and flexed around when trying to use on my lap, in bed etc. I was surprised at the clunky feel of this thing and the two pieces together made my new iPad pro seem bulkier than my laptop. The kickstand/plastic shell combo did not have clean lines and it looks a little frankensteinish.

For me, this case was bulky, plasticky and awkward to use. I really tried to like it for a few days but ended up returning and now waiting for something better to come along. Perhaps Logitech will revisit the Create for the 10.5 or maybe something else will step in and fill the market.

    Nothing slim about the case

    • Written by Arslan B from St. Peter

This case is thicker than my MacBook Pro 2010. Besides that, it makes it impossible to use the iPad as a tablet as the keyboard keeps falling off from the magnetic hinge when you pop it open and whilst it is not on a flat surface. I am returning to today.

    Epic Fail

    • Written by Rick R from Charlotte

The logitech team epically failed with this design. As others have pointed out in previous reviews, there is nothing slim about this keyboard. The stand and keyboard require much more flat surface space than previous models, in fact the two piece design make it unstable on anything other than a flat ridid surface. If you travel frequently and like the mobility of the Slim Folio (the previous and far superior model) you will be extremely disappointed. The larger and unstable footprint do not make it conducive for airplane travel, vehicle use (ubers, taxis, trains, etc), use on your lap while lounging, or any other surface that is not solid and flat. It requires more time to set up from the closed position and forget about using it with the pencil.

I would give negative stars if I could and will definitely return the product to the store.

    Not bad, not perfect

    • Written by Michelle H from Denver

I've been using this keyboard/case for a little over a week now. After an initial "I'm definitely returning this" thought, I decided to give it a chance, and decided to keep it. The keyboard itself is extremely comfortable to use and easy to type on. Hooked up the new iPad 10.5" and the keyboard just starts working. I think I like the clamshell, it feels very sturdy. I don't like how because of the form factor of this, you can't use this on your lap like you can a laptop, and pretty much have to be sitting at a desk. The stand you need to open digs into your legs very uncomfortably. With that, I don't like that if I want to use this as an iPad I have to remove the keyboard and put it someplace, it doesn't just fold back. I also wish it was designed so I could put the Apple Smart Cover on when I am using it as an iPad since there's no screen protection. Although the iPad is pretty inset into the case so that's good.

So overall I like it, but at the same time, there's some annoyances to me.

    Love it!

    • Written by Cyra B from Anderson

I don't know why people are giving such terrible reviews of this case, because I love it. Yes, the materials aren't as sleek or luxurious feeling as the apple keyboard or other keyboards, but there are plenty of postitives to it.

    1. The case fully protects the ipad. The keyboard does not scratch the screen and all of the corners of the ipad are covered. I have had no problems with the funcionality of the buttons on the iPad. It took one or two tries to get used to the lock button, as it was more flush with the iPad than the volume buttons were, but I have had no real issues with it.
    2. The keyboard is fantastic. It is backlit, which is really nice, and has a lot of useful shortcut keys. You can also detach it easily while still having the ipad protected with the back of the cover. I prefer the Logitech keys over those of the apple keyboard. (It's more of the normal "clicky" keyboard feel).
    3. The case can hold the ipad at almost any angle- the stand on the back its very useful. I get frustrated with the smart covers because they can only really hold the ipad at two angles, and this one can tilt any way you would like!
    4. The pen holder is very nice, I have had no issues with the pencil staying in place.
    5. I know this isn't necessarily a leg up on the apple keyboard, but I like that it magnetically attaches/charges from the ipad so you do not have to worry about battery life.

Overall if you do not mind that it's not as "nice feeling" as some ipad cases, I think you will really enjoy this case. It does add a good amount of thickness, but a lot of protection and functionality. Honestly the materials do not bother me. I bought the iPad and this case in order to replace my MacBook that was on its way out and so far I am thouroughly enjoying it.

Let me tell you saw the reviews on this page and did the thing that you might do..not get it and instead get the apple keyboard, but boy was I wrong. When I had the apple keyboard the ipad wich is very expensive does not feel protected at all. Yes, the case can feel a little bit heavier, but it feels protected. Love the keyboard super effective and gives you the laptop feel. Has the pencil holder wich is convenient. The only downside is that since the keyboard is with a smart connector.....when you are on the go and don't need the keyboard it can get a little awkward. Over all it is excellent for me!!

For replacing your laptop with an iPad

    • Written by Bradley C from Papillion

The Logitech Slim Combo has been getting a lot of negative reviews and I honestly think these people haven't used the case and have just been going off what other people say. I was a victim of the same fear that it was a horrible case but my order had already shipped so when I got it I decided to try it out. Let's start with the keyboard. It's fantastic, the key travel feels perfect. To me, the keys even felt better than the MacBook Pro's butterfly switches. The keys are backlit and there is a palm rest. The palm rest feels great but I found myself countless times reaching for a trackpad that wasn't there. The keys sit far enough from the keyboard that you will pick your hand up to touch the screen. The other fantastic thing about the Logitech case is the top row of keys. You get the keys that you'd find on a non-touchbar MacBook Pro. One is the home button, one is the lock button and the rest are media buttons, sound buttons and brightness buttons. The keyboard also connects to the smart pins at the bottom and can easily pull off when you need it to. Although, with this keyboard, there were quite a few times when I woke up my iPad and the keyboard wasn't working. I had to pull it off and then snap it back on to get it to start working again. Let's move onto the case. The case on the iPad is large and thick. The case does a decent job at protecting the back of the iPad and leaves a decent enough camera cutout. (Does anyone use their rear camera on their iPad?) This leads me to a negative aspect of the case; on the front the case is raised around the edges. Presumably, this helps keep the keyboard from touching the screen when it's closed and it could also help if you take the keyboard off and lay it facedown. However, to me it looks really ugly and weird. It's like the screen is sunken into it's protector case. This same case for the 12.9" iPad looks noticeably sleeker. I really wish the 10.5's case looked like that. Overall this case does not accent the beautiful design of the iPad but rather gives it a Chromebook / ebook look. The pen loop on top is fantastic, it holds the Apple Pencil securely and makes it easily accessible. The back of the case has a Microsoft Surface style hinge where it folds out and you can adjust the angle. You can even set the stand so the iPad stands vertically. I found that the stand is pretty stable as long as you have the two corners of the hinge on the same level of surface. The two corners have a decent grip to them. The case worked well Indian style, at a desk, on the couch and in bed. It is not as enjoyable to hold as the Smart Keyboard in "tablet mode". You have to pull the keyboard off to use it like a tablet and then you are left with a bulky case on your iPad. I also found it harder to use the Apple Pencil due to the raised edges. It is fairly easy to pop the case on and off but due to how it grips the edges on the iPad, I would not want to do it repeatedly. I did not have a problem closing the case, it seems like there are some sort of magnets that snap it closed. I'm not sure what the people that say it doesn't line up did. I also do not think that the case feels cheap but it does not feel as premium as an Apple Case. While it takes up almost double the desk space as the Apple Smart Keyboard, I could see Apple's vision of replacing your laptop with an iPad. It's the perfect case for someone who wants to use the iPad as a laptop.

Better than the negative reviews will lead you to believe

    • Written by NICHOLAS R from San antonio

It isn't perfect, but it certainly is not as terrible as many people make it out to be. I am willing to sacrifice some weight and thickness for a responsive backlit keyboard, all around protection, and an adjustable kickstand. This is my first iPad in many years and coming from owning a Surface Pro, I absolutely HAD to have an adjustable kickstand. This feature alone is worth it for me.
