    Good product

    • Written by Nobel N from Hamilton

I bought this charging base instead of Belkin because it is cheaper but the quality of material used was excellent. My phone case is a thin one and works well. The only flaws are the charging light is hard to notice, the phone needs to be centred for charging to work and the power adaptor is big.

    1. contact surface is stickier which prevents the phone from sliding (by vibration) out of the charging zone.
    2. costs $ 20 less but $ 10 more then cost on amazon.
    3. diameter is about the same.
    4. placement on the charging zone about the same
    5. faster charging. but both charge slower than wired.
    6. both charge with case.

    2. dim and poorly placed 'charging' led light. should have been designed to shut off after full charge.

Good build quality and it works well, but...

    • Written by James B from Pacific Pines

... it's let down by a silly design flaw. In an obvious case of form over function someone thought that it'd look good if they had the square transformer part of the plug twisted at 45° to the pins part of the plug. This means that the now diamond shaped top of the plug is too wide for most standard Australian 4-way power strips :(

Apart from that, it functions well and charges my iPhone 8 Plus even through a Spigen case which has two credit cards in it. If it wasn't for the design flaw I'd give this 5 stars.

    Convenient but not perfect

    • Written by Dylan S from Milton

The charging base is very well built, always charges on contact with no repositioning necessary and the rubberized texture holds your phone in place very securely. However, one of the biggest flaws in my opinion is the heat caused by the charger. I've noticed my phone (iPhone X) gets considerably warm during charging but it is not the phone itself heating up but the actual charging pad that gets hot which in turn heats up the device. I can't imagine this will be good for battery health in the long run. Lastly I have noticed that it charges ever so slightly slower than the included 5W charging adapter. I think this is caused by having a case on the device, I personally use the Apple leather case. Overall the product is very convenient but is definitely not without its flaws.

    Convenient way to charge

    • Written by Dan H from West Yarmouth

I too am surprised by the negative reviews. I place my iPhone 8, in a Scorpio case, on the charger, without having to worry much about centering it, and the phone lets you know it's in contact and the base LED lights up. It then charges a little faster than the common 5-watt Apple iPhone charger with cord, a little slower than Apple's beefier new iPad chargers.

The only thing that keeps me from awarding 5 stars is that unlike a plugin charger, you cannot power down your phone and charge it on the Mophie. If you do, it will start back up by itself. I will need to get in the habit of putting the phone in Airplane Mode to avoid being disturbed at night.

Overall, the convenience of this charging method makes it worth the price.

    Really Good Product

    • Written by David B from Nuneaton

Really good product, happy with this purchase. I'd prefer it to be cheaper, like anything in life but does what it needs to do and has a good length cable so you can place it where you want. It does have a bit of weight to it, not heavy but you'll be surprised

    Good, yet not perfect

    • Written by Lev P from Forest Row

It's overall quite a nice accessory for your phone. It's useful just to relax, kick back, and effortlessly put your phone on this charger without the need for any wires (btw now you can use the wired earphones and charge at the same time). However, I've there's a massive problem. You need to place your phone perfectly in the middle (with very little room to move) or else it just wouldn't charge. I've run into this problem several times in the morning after I presI've put it on charge only to find out the next morning that I'm on 10%. So that's something to keep in mind, and that will hopefully be resolved with a larger apple made wireless charger coming up soon. It also heats up insanely while charging, so does your phone. So those are the two things to keep in mind before buying. Overall I'm quite happy with the product.

Works great but may interfere with USB 3 devices

    • Written by Paul S from Hickory Creek

First, I need to report that this charger works exactly as described - it's very fast and couldn't be easier to use. Easy to love, in other words.

But, here's the catch... I have no definitive proof of this but circumstantially, it's pretty clear to me that this device interferes badly with my USB 3 external hard drives if the device is placed in close proximity to the drives. I had the Mophie about 12" from my Seagate 8TB with USB 3 Hub drive and the Seagate hub was absolutely unusable for thumb drives. Every USB 3 device I plugged in to it became corrupted and could not be written to until it had been "repaired." This became a real hair puller because all of the devices, once "repaired," worked perfectly elsewhere.

I finally became suspicious of the charger and moved it "a long way" away from the Seagate (about 5 feet away), which was certainly further than necessary, but ALL of the problems I was having with the Seagate hub ended. I mean, "ended instantly and never came back."

So, until someone can convince me otherwise, I'm saying this is a really great charger and I recommend it highly - I just wouldn't position it next to a USB 3 device if it were me

    Works well

    • Written by Anthony P from Vernon Hills

Bought this for my family so we can use it with our iPhone 8 and X's. It does what it's supposed to do and it works. The only complaint I have is after downloading iOS 11.2 on the iPhone 8 and X I don't see a faster charge based on what Apple has said, that in iOS 11.2 with a charger wattage like this one (Quick charge 12W) it would charge your phone much faster, almost 50% faster than a Lightning Port Cord. Other than that, this charging pad is great. It's black and sleek. The other pad Apple sells does not look good at all and is full of plastic, lines and logos. I highly recommend this pad than the other one. It also doesn't feel like it should be $60.00...

    Nice

    • Written by Wesley B from Monroe

The charging pad is quite nice just plopping your iPhone down and having it charge. The only problem that I had, you need to make sure your iPhone is perfectly on the charging pad, if its not perfectly on your iPhone will not charge.

    Works as expected

    • Written by PATRICK F from West Jordan

I see a lot of complaints and wonder if people truly understand concepts of wireless charging. Wireless charging wont charge your phone in an hour. That technology doesnt exist (and if anyone tried it, it would blow up like a Samsung Note).

Now that 11.2 is out though, Fast charge is enabled on this, and charges about as fast as the cable and charger out of the box. If you want faster than that, you need to go wired and either use a 12 watt adapter, or a usbC adapter and lightning cable. It works flawlessly, and the light is not too bright at night. I would give it 5 stars, if Mophie had used something other than a proprietary charging cable and puck (llike micro usb or usbC or something).

    Great Wireless Charger

    • Written by Philbert H from Enfield

This was a replacement for my returned Belkin wireless charger. I am very happy with this choice now. Does exactly what you would expect a wireless charger to do. Small footprint and very solid construction. Most importantly though, when you lay your iPhone X on it there is no problem with placement and it stays exactly where you put it, no sliding around or sliding off (problem I had with the Belkin). Stays in place and charges well without any case and with the Apple leather case.

    Wall plug too big

    • Written by Marcus S from COWRA

Wireless chargers are so convenient provided you are not in a hurry. The only downside with this one is the size of the wall plug - like many adaptors it is too large to plug into a dual wall outlet if there is another device with a normal sized plug in the adjacent outlet. This is worsened by the crazy decision to design a square adaptor mounted on the diagonal, making it even wider than it's square dimensions suggest! So you can have the bedside lamp or bedside charging, but not both. A re-designed adaptor which allowed neighbouring plugs to share a dual wall outlet would earn a 5 star review.

    Great Product!

    • Written by Ryan W from Newmanstown

This is a really great product and I am glad I upgraded from my off-brand charger. This charger starts charging immediately once you place your device down. The LED indicator is really dim and subtle so its great for a night stand without making the room bright. One complaint though. I have a case made of TPU (full TPU with nothing else,) and it seems to stick to the rubber surface of the charger from time to time, otherwise, this is a great investment and worth the money!

Don't worry about the price, this charger works very well

    • Written by Curt T from South Beloit

A couple of days before launch day, i purchased a charger by Insignia just to make sure I had a wireless charger when I picked up my iPhone X. I wanted to try the Mophie, and I was lucky to pick one up when I picked up my iPhone X from the local Apple Store.

After picking up my phone, I went back to work and used the Insignia charger. I did pause the the downloading of apps other than the ones I needed for driving home that night. The phone was about 45% charged when I got to work, and it was about 65% when I left for home about 3 hours later.

I hooked up the Mophie when I got home and put my iPhone on it. I unpaused the downloads because I was now on my home WiFi. I checked it out about an hour later, and it was almost fully charged. So this charger charged my iPhone X a lot faster than the insignia did.

The profile of this charger is also smaller. It feels a lot sturdier, the base is the same size as the top (the insignia is smaller at the base so it feels like it will tip over easily), and it feels like it has a rubber coating on all sides, so it will not slip or slide around.

The AC adapter is pretty big, but it needs to provide some ooommmphh to charge wirelessly.

I knocked it down one start for the proprietary connector. In this day and age, I feel it should have had a USB C type connector at the base.

It is definitely worth the money. Great build quality, great charging speed even through the otterbox case I have on my iPhone.

Another product I've bought recently that doesn't really need explaining. Plug it in, drop your iPhone on it, and it charges. As some reviews have noted, though, you do want to get the iPhone as centered as possible. I've noticed sometimes the white power light will blink and the iPhone will "ding" a few times, I think it's the connection being weak so very little power is reaching the iPhone. Centering it never causes this issue.
