Disappointed. A major was of time. Apple product support plainly deceitful.

    • Written by David D from Gatineau

I ordered this Belkin USB 3.0 4-Port Hub through the online Apple Store to help connect more USB peripherals to my 2018 Mac Mini via ThunderBolt port because the model I found and ordered from Amazon kept cutting out my WiFi connection, essentially as soon as the Hub was connected the WiFi stopped working completely, that’s plain useless! After doing some research online, many mentioned some potential conflict between wireless routers signals (running at 2.4GHz) receiving some interference with many USB hubs +sSomething to do with an "unshelled wire" running from the Hub to the Mac computer via ThunderBolt. So I found this Belkin USB 3.0 4-Port Hub on the Apple website, reviews were 3 Stars, but I still called Apple to check and validate if it too had the WiFi issue. Spent quite some time on the phone with the Apple Rep, they kept being reassuring me that "Apple only sells products on their online store that has been “rigorously tested” and it should be superior to other dongles". Think again! Ordered it, had it shipped to a local store, picked it up today, plugged it in when I got home and what would you know… WiFi gone! Don’t get me wrong, I did all the usual tests to no avail. Am I plugging in something major? No! I simply plugged in a small 250GB Solid State Drive (SSD) using the latest USB cable into this 4-port hub, and down goes the WiFi! Apple, why are you wasting our time? Repeating that your "select" line of products are always tested and you don’t sell anything that won’t work… YEAH RIGHT! Stay away guys, this Hub WILL disappoint. I’m returning it tomorrow, just some more time wasted! Frustrating to say the least, especially because I called before I ordered...

It works but the cable is way too short!

    • Written by Janet B from UTTOXETER

I decided to ignore the previous reviews and went ahead and purchased this item. The power cable is way too short. Having the power cable and the USB cable on the same side of the hub, means the hub is dangling in mid air, because my power supply is not near the back of the iMac. Had they been on opposite sides, it would have been O.K. I just don't understand why manufacturers make the cables so short. Without the cable the product will not work and as far as I am aware, it is not possible to buy an extension to the power cable. I will be asking Belkin about this though. We buy from Apple because we trust them to offer us products fit for purpose, even if they come at a highly inflated price. On the plus side however, after plugging my WD passport into the hub, the iMac did recognise it immediately. I'm going to keep it as it does the job, but I expected better. Very disappointed.

GROSSLY Underpowered Hub Won't Even Power An APPLE USB SuperDrive!

    • Written by Sherrell G from Knoxville

I just purchased this new in the Apple store. Took it home and hooked it up. It wouldn't even drive my new Apple USB SuperDrive with no other ports in use! So I go back to the Apple Store. They pull another new one off the shelf and hook it up. Their's wouldn't power my SuperDrive either! (The SuperDrive is fine... it powers right up when plugged directly into the MacBook Pro...)

Bottom line: This Belkin hub doesn't qualify as a "powered USB hub" in my book. Look somewhere else if you really need a powered hub! Definitely NOT up to normal Belkin quality standards...

    Works w/MacBook Air

    • Written by William H from Haiku

This compact unit appears well made and worked right out of the box with my Macbook Air 2018. USing the included USB 3.0 cable I plugged in a SanDisk Cruzer Glide memory USB stick and the Air found it automatically. The 4-port hub works with or without the included AC adapter. Note: the AC adapter output did not charge the Air with the USB hub. The MB Air did not indicate any charging from this device, so don't count on it to replace the charger you received with your Air from Apple. I do recommend this unit for use with USB memory sticks. I have not tested it on any other legacy USB devices yet.

So disappointed, Just had this device delivered this morning. After a Chat with Belkin support, I was informed that this unit will not work with drives over 1T. Since I have 4T and 2T drives, this hub is useless for me. Back it goes to Apple. I checked with Apple support BEFORE I bought the unit, but they never mentioned it to me.

Very disappointed in total with Apple on the Thunderbolt connector. Great to have it, but good luck trying to get compatible card readers and hubs.

    Power cable too short

    • Written by David C from HITCHIN

I purchased the hub to provide additional usb connections for my iMac. Unfortunately l have been unable to use the hub as the cable from the power supply is too short to reach. It needs to be at least twice its length of 90 cm / 3 ft.

    Read Before You Buy!!!

    • Written by Timmy R from Lincoln

Don't let the '2 Star Review' shade your judgement on this device. It clearly states 'USB 3.0 4-Port Hub + USB-C Cable' as the mentioned product. If the '2 Star Reviewer' would've looked at the product in store, while purchasing, he/she would have realized it wasn't for them. I will be buying a new MacBook Air, in the next week or two to replace my MacBook from 2006; and this looks like a PERFECT product to give me 4 USB 3.0/2.0 ports on a product that doesn't have any. I WILL BE BUYING this along with my new MacBook!!!

This is the best hub I have owned it works really well. It recognises all the devices that I plug into it. I would recommend this to anyone with a USB-C input.

    Belkin USB 3.0 4-Port Hub + USB-C Cable

    • Written by Michael A from Bristol

Having bought this Hub a while ago, I haven't really used it until today. I've tried plugging a San Disk 64GB drive into it but my Mac won't recognise it. Great, what a waste of time & money. I will be returning this product to the Apple Store at Cribbs Causeway for a refund. It doesn't work.

    bad design

    • Written by Sai C from Pittsburgh

whoever designed this should be fired. If I wanted a USB 3.0 hub, I'd have bought a USB 3.0 hub. The only USB-c thing you are paying for here is the cord, which is also pretty short. Everything else is USB 3.0. Since the cord is removable, if you lose it, which is pretty easy because it's small, you're SOL and your hub is bricked. The only place you can get a replacement C to micro-3.0 cord is Amazon, so you can't just pop in to your local electronics store. Belkin didn't think this design through at all. Worse yet, the box in Apple stores doesn't indicate it's really a USB 3.0 hub with a USB-C dongle. I wish I had the original packaging so I could return it but unfortunately I left it in another city while traveling.
