Terrible, bad choice of material, and barely fit for purpose, zero stars

I've had three cables. On one of them the outer plastic covering just corroded away and started flaking off so I could see the metal sheathing underneath. On another two after normal use (yes, cables are meant to flex and bend in normal use without breaking) the plastic and metal sheathing just broke apart near the lightning connector, and I've had to resort to wrapping them in sellotape around the end to cover up the break and give them some strength. Considering the lip service given to industrial design, these cables are terrible.

    Terrible

I had the same charger that came with my phone ever since i bought it last year in June of 2016, it lasted me until about the month of March of this year. The bottom portion of the charger where it was connected to the charging port started giving me issues, meaning I had to start placing my phone in different positions in order to get my phone to charge. Up until June of this year I had gotten another charger from 5 below which was 10in that only lasted me until about a month. Then I ordered another charger from eBay which came on Saturday July 1st, which now broke yesterday. Now I have to go to the Apple Store to buy a brand new charger for $20 that will most likely not last for a long time. Apple if your chargers had lasted longer than expected than I wouldn't have to go out and buy a new charger today now would I? Please Change your design and make your chargers last longer and more dependable.

    Lightning Cables All

Absolutely disgraceful. Such poor quality, break continuously, should seriously be looked at by Apple Quality Control - surely for the price they could make them more sturdy... or is it deliberate to ensure constant purchases?? Becoming very disappointed with Apple and may change to other brand when time to replace.

    The game is up Apple!

There is something very wrong with the world we live in when the biggest company in the world can't make cables that last longer than a year.or so. Indeed this is one of the reasons why they are the biggest company in the world - they keep you coming back...that's fine for upgrades etc..but for basic nuts and bolts? Crazy business practise. If they keep treating their loyal customers like idiots though you would expect their days at the top are numbered. Or else address this obvious problem Apple, it's really not that difficult to provide a good product at a high price.

    Charger on fire

After using this charger for a few months in my car it actually caught on fire while I was driving. Never have I had a phone charger catch on fire. It burned my hand too. You think for the money you pay for the thing they could make it better. Step it up Apple. So caution when using it, I myself was never expecting it to catch on fire.

    Poor Quality Connector

Used this cord for about 1-1/2 years and had to replace it. The Lightning end appeared to loose some of the coating and would not consistently make a good connection. Thought by buying an Apple cord it would be high quality but was wrong.

APPLE PLEASE GO BACK TO YOUR OLD CHARGING CABLE

I have owned iPhone's since the iPhone 4. The cords that come with the phone used to last me until I upgraded (usually 2 years or more). I now have the iPhone 7S PLUS and oh. my. god... I am so frustrated!!! I constantly have a phone that is dying!! I have had my phone for 2 months and the cord broke within the first month.. it just goes from charging to not charging every second and it drove me nuts! So I purchased another cord which has now just stopped working altogether! And forget trying to use any other brand then apple as none of them work.. So i'm forced to pay $30 for a cord that MAY last me a few months.. It's an absolute joke.. this phone is worth $1300 or more and I am constantly stressed and trying to find a WORKING cord that will actually charge my phone... My phone is always dying! It's an absolute joke. What did you do your phone cables apple??!!? They used to be fine. The cords are such poor quality that when I use my iPone and charge it at the same time the phone actually goes down in battery percentage... I have NEVER ever had this happen with any other iPhone I have owned. Get your stuff together Apple.

    Chargers

I love my iPhone, but seriously apple needs to step up the game with the chargers, they are terrible. My charger is broken and I had no other charger than another broken one that was in worse condition than my new one, but it worked??

    Pretty much garbage

I recently needed a replacement as my original cable for my ipad started tearing at the usb part.
And the new one broke after 16 days! Returned to store and luckily got a free replacement but from what i can see this will probably not last a month either because the rubber part going into the plastic is not really stuck in place

    Expensive and break too easily

Title says it all really, they're very expensive for a bit of wire and I've had two now where the outside coating has broken (and I've tried to be careful not to bend the second one very much after the first one broke!)

    Poor Quality Material

The cable started tearing after the 1st year of use. I tried to salvage it by using a tape. Then other parts started tearing as well. Now it just looks like a cat chewed on it. Sadly I can't blame my invisible cat on this one. I've used Apple products since 2006 and went through the evolutions of it all. The ones in the past are still in great shape, so Apple must've swapped the materials that they use.

Extremely low quality, plan on repurchasing again and again

This cord/cable is of the absolute lowest quality you can expect. It does its job for the time it lasts, but I'm now on my 3rd cord because the wire falls apart. I take extremely good care of my devices and their accessories. I've had cords from $20 phones last longer with better durability than this piece of ****. Come on Apple, after what we pay for our devices, you can do better than that. Either design a long-lasting cable or drop the price to match the quality.
