Seems ok (not stunning) so far on my 5th Gen 9.7" iPad

Got one of these from JB HiFi today. Before I left the store I checked the box and found a damaged second-hand device in the box. JB happily exchanged it for another that appeared to be new and originally sealed box.

Got home and tried a standard def movie on my 4K monitor (it also does 1080P of course). Image seems stable and smooth, but a little grainy. Doesn't fill the screen.

Tried an HD movie and it fills the screen ok and it's much less grainy, but slightly jittery.

    Oh well.

    Stopped working with iOS11

Worked as expected for months. Updated my iPhone 6S to iOS11 and now it doesn’t work. If it is actually no longer compatible and this is not a bug that is fixed I will be disgusted.

    No longer compatible.

Worked great until I updated to iOS 11 on my iPhone 7 Plus. Apparently it’s not compatible with iOS 11..

Been working fine for me for over a year now.

I have no idea what everyone is doing to make their adapter die so fast. I use mine everyday to connect my iPad to my screen. I wish iOS had more functionality other than mirroring and displaying video. It would be nice to have a video app in the background while I use Safari or something else for example as the video is playing on the monitor.

Another request for version 2 is to allow the lightning in port to have more functions than just charging. I’d like to connect my Camera or Ethernet adapter to it (through the USB camera adapter, of course).

    Poor quality, over priced

The cable split after a few uses. Speaking of uses...it would take many attempts for the adapter to connect. I tried a few working and one brand new HDMI cable and it still hardly worked. Now it won't work at all.

    had it for 3 months

it has completely stopped working. It's sad because I paid 52.00 for this and I just lost my money. This product is terrible and everyone that bought one some gets a refund back from apple. I will not buy apple products ever again. Thanks for scamming me out more money.!!!!!!!

    Terrible

What a waste of money! Plugged in a 1920 x 1200 screen via HDMI using this adapter. The result is a picture that is 1280x960 inside a 1920x1200 frame! So basically, you get a picture on 53% of your screen area, the rest is black! And since the 1280x960 picture is embedded inside a 1920x1200 frame, there's no way to scale the image to full screen, even if your projectors supports it! 1280x960 was called "SXGA-" and it was around since the 90s. I didn't know apple is into retro-computing with their IPad Pro line, but that's what this is. The IPad Pro 12.9" was my first apple product (nice device, but software makes it a toy), the apple pencil my second (battery is always empty...) and this adapter my third, and hopefully last one. 1280x960 reminds me of my 50 MHz clocked, single core Intel 486 PC ;)

    Stopped working

I gave this two stars because when it did work it was pretty cool to display movie apps from my phone to my TV, but it started working sometimes and then just completely stopped all together. It would be nice if there was some way to replace it instead of buying another one especially since I only bought it 2 months ago for $50.00 plus.

    Apple really couldn't care less

This adapter worked at first, but quit and now does not. It will start, but then loses the picture. No Apple assist available as far as I can tell. My experience has been just as the others have described and I have an Apple pro.

    Quit working

Well, I read all of the reviews and still tried it out anyway. 7 months later, no sound is being transmitted. The video feed is working, however.

    Laggy

I got one so I could play games on a tv, but it's too laggy. I can't believe Apple would make such an oversite on quality.

    Not Good

Works for about 5minutes then screen freezes. Sometimes, I'll get lucky and enjoy about 15min of screen transfer before it freezes again. Tried on multiple TV's with multiple devices (e.g., iPhones, iPads, etc.), but still doesn't work very good. Why does this cable even exist if everyone seems to have problems with it?

    Terrible Product

It worked for all of 2.5 months. No surprise since every apple product I have owned has had issues after a short period of time. Do yourself a favor and just switch to android products. The converter is half the price an actually works. I will personally never buy, or use apple products again. Thank God my contract on this phone is almost over, I will be switching back immediately.

What the heck are you all doing?

I can't understand what all the whining is about. I've had one of these since Christmas and never had a problem with it in 6 months. If you have wifi I can't imagine you needing this adapter -- just get a device like the Fire TV stick or Roku or whatever so you can watch all the Netflix/Hulu you want. But for those of us who are out of wifi range or just don't even have traditional internet (like houses in the boonies that only satellite internet can reach) yet DO have unlimited cell phone data, you can't go wrong with this.

Like someone else said, there's some simple tricks for making it work.

    A) Don't be a slob. Don't bend or twist the connector, don't leave it laying around in dusty or dirty places, don't shove it in your pocket when you go to a friend's house. Blow out your (probably filthy) lightning slot before inserting the adapter. Maybe $50 isn't a lot to other folks but I've been treating my adapter like it's worth a lot, and it's rewarded me in turn.

    B) Seriously, just start the freaking video on your phone before you plug the adapter into it. You'll miss what, .5 seconds that you can rewind? Video connection has always been guaranteed for me when I do this. I watch all the major streaming apps with no problem.

    Stopped working out of nowhere!

I was so excited when I bought this product. I has researched many options to display my phone screen on my tv to watch all of my favorite shows that are on my apps. This device worked beautifully and perfectly mirrored my phone screen to my tv. I am the only one who uses it and I was always gentle with it because $49 is a lot to spend on a small adapter like this. However, even after being careful with this pricey adapter, it began to go in and out. It did this for a couple of hours anytime I picked up my phone. It had never done this before. It was going in and out as if I had unplugged the adapter from my phone and then plugged it back in. After a couple hours of this it just stopped working completely. When I unplug the adapter and then plug it back in, the blue bar that normally appears at the top of my phone screen shows up but then after about 5 seconds, it goes back off. And even though the blue bar shows up, nothing shows up on the tv at all as if nothing is even connected. I have even tried powering my phone off and back on before connecting the adapter. I'm really disappointed because I really liked this product at first. Guess I will see if I can get my money back or exchange it.

    iPhone on the big screen!

Love this product! Most of my friends don't have an  tv so when you need to play something big this guy comes to the rescue! I love this thing and have been carrying it for a while now. Works well with iPhone and iPad! I e been hiking the AT and when I come into a town and stay for a night or two I love being able to hook up my iPhone to their tv's and watch whatever I want!

Does not work, do not purchase

I recently purchased this digital adapter & I have not been able to get it to work. I have tried on multiple TV's & three different HDMI cables. Either I get a no signal message or the video freezes within seconds of starting. The video will still play on my iPhone, but will not play on any TV. I wish I had read the many negative reviews prior to making this purchase.
