    No directions

    • Written by Shawn H from Colonial Beach

I love this Apple Pencil but there was only two things wrong. First, there was barely any instructions on how to make it work so me and my dad looked for videos to make it work. Then, when you charge for six to eight minutes, it only goes to twenty one percent. But it is a very useful pencil.

    Love it

    • Written by Caitlin G from New port richey

Absolutely love this Pencil. I recently made the switch from a PC and photoshop with a graphics tablet to an iPad Peo with procreate and the Apple Pencil for digital graphic art. So far I’ve brrn impressed, it feels sturdy and durable in my hand, and the shape and weight are closer to a real pen than any other stylus I’ve used for art before. Would definitely recommend.

    Fantastic piece of technology

    • Written by Roman F from Toronto

I generally never leave reviews but I have to in this case. Firstly to all the doubters, there are nibs available for 25 bucks, not that hard to do a basic google search.
I bought my first ipad with an apple pencil just a few days ago and I'm thrilled about how much technology has advanced. Works perfectly on my 9.7''. I bought them for note-taking purposes at the uni, and I've spent an entire day practicing writing notes and adjusting to writing on screen rather than on paper, and after a few hours it almost became natural. Also a really nice touch is the battery indicator on the ipad, love it.

Overall, super-satisfied with the product, apple pencil is amazing.

Doesn’t Charge - Waist of Money

    • Written by Ray M from Hopeisland

Only used a few times, then failed and wouldnt recharge. Pen will not increase charge from 3%? Payed hard earned money for something I only used about 3-4 times. Waste of money. This is the kind of doggie product the Australian Consumer Law was designed to protect us from. Bad form Apple.....

Short lifespan for $100 a pop

    • Written by CHARLES G from Chicago

I have owned my iPad Pro for almost 3 years now and I just depleted my 4th apple pencil. It will no longer hold a charge and I find that I must buy a 5th. This one lasted 8 months. The first one I bought lasted 7 months. The 2nd was about 8.5 months. Same with the 3rd. I feel like, for the amount of money these things cost, they ought to last longer. I’m very angry I am about to drop another $100 to replace this thing!

    Broke after 6 months

    • Written by Wolfgang S from Aptos

While it was actually working, I enjoyed using it and the way it felt. I use the iPad + Pencil and Procreate for art and work.

It already broke on me by 6 months of use. Even when 100% charged, pairing over and over, and giving it a new tip that's securely on, it won't register on the screen when touched.

Keep charged or it will die

    • Written by Fiona D from Toronto

Apple won’t tell you this - if the battery runs down to dead and stays that way for a few weeks, the ipencil dies. You have to charge it regularly or you will not be able to charge it at all. I now own a $99 stick that I used a handful of times. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!

    Designed to fail

    • Written by Adrian T from Singapore

Loved the pencil when it worked, but it kept failing. Had my pencil fail on me because of a battery fault (doesn't charge past 3%), PAID to get it replaced and the replacement failed after the warranty period. Brought it back to Apple and they wanted me to pay again.

My beef is that they didn't even know what was wrong with the Pencil. They claimed they didn't have the hardware to diagnose the issue at the main Apple Store, but were happy to quote me the replace fee. Would be helpful to provide charging instructions on the box and it.

I might buy again if they fixed the issues.

    I guess it's like a subscription.

    • Written by David F from West Hartford

I use the iPad pro and it's pencil for work. I have to make hundreds of drawings per week. I've had it for two years and in that time I've had to buy two new pencils. I suspect many of you know why. They just stop working. Not very "Pro" if you ask me.

It's happened yet again so I'm now about to go buy a third pencil only now they have an even more expensive model. Do i trust that one not to die unexpectedly at work? No.

I couldn't be more angry at Apple for this. It's clear to me through my experience that they've willfully released a self destructing product.

I'm held hostage to iPad due to my love of the app Procreate and I'm not interested in switching to a new drawing program. So here I go again to buy yet another pencil. Adios $100. Like I said, a subscription.

I used to praise this set of tools to my artist friends and colleagues. Now I do the exact opposite.

    Get it together Apple.

    works great!

    • Written by Amanda M from Trenton

I purchased this along with my 6th generation iPad intending to use both for school. All I have to say is that I love it. It's super easy and convenient to use. Rather than having to carry around notebooks and binders filled with papers, I have everything that I need in one place. I started to use both for work as well, which makes being organized even easier. I love how this pencil is compatible with an iPad that isn't iPad pro. It helps someone who doesn't have the money to spend on an iPad Pro.

    Price is too much

    • Written by Abir A from Palo Alto

New Apple pencil has launched in last October. Still the old one's sold for $99! Really disappointing. For those who use iPad for education and learning, this ridiculous price just drives them away from Apple's ecosystem.

    Overpriced Junk

    • Written by David F from Mableton

Have barely used it and today tried to finally use it. Totally dead and won’t take a charge. Hey Apple, ever considered, oh I don’t know, an on off switch? That’s right folks, if you don’t use your $99 pencil for a while it completely drains itself to the point of no return. Have tried to charge it for two hours and followed all their (Apple) troubleshooting recommendations. Nope, nada, zip. Thing is dead. So over $100 for about 3 uses. Waste of money and time. Steve must be rolling in his grave. Hey Apple, want to know why your stock is tanking? People are catching on that you are riding on the coat tails of your once great products reputation. Today there are very good options. I suggest you get back to quality and items that last. After all, Apple products aren’t cheap and I normally don’t mind paying extra for quality. I do however mind being fleeced for overpriced junk. With more than 3k complaints for this and other issues it’s safe to say that the Apple Pencil is just that, junk.

    Cannot function without it!!

    • Written by Elisabeth F from Okeechobee

I absolutely love my Apple Pencil for my iPad Pro. I’m working to go paper-free at work and this device works perfectly with the Notability app. The charge is fast and lasts forever. Kudos to the engineering team for developing this tech. When I need extra cushion, I slip a foam pencil grip on it and it still works beautifully.

    doesn't charge, too many parts

    • Written by Pauline S from Pleasantville

reading all these negative reviews I can almost hear Steve Jobs rolling in his grave.
This pen is truly next to useless. I thought I had done something wrong, but no, it's Apple corporate doing their designed obsolescence thing. Well played, you tossers. And like one of the reviewers did, this piece of plastic paperweight is only good for breaking in half and tossing in the nearest dust bin.
    It's slippery.
    It's loud.
    It's heavy.
It's got way too many bits to break and lose.
it rolls off your pad. Gravity people!
and it costs wayyyyy too much for a piece of equipment that breaks so easily and has no replaceable parts. Truly brilliant from a corporate standpoint.

Don't buy this nonsense. I'm switching back to wacom.

Poor life on the Apple Pencil 2 due to battery and BT pairing

    • Written by Henry S from St. Augustine

I must say that both the design and the options for dealing with the inherently poor running time/battery life of the Apple Pencil 2 & iPad Pro 10.5" are way less than I expected and was promised at Apple.

When I bought my iPad, I heard nothing but good things about the combo or the Apple Pencil with the iPad. The reality is that it's a poor performer mostly due to the short life and lack of sleep control of the pencil device. IMO, there should be a away to shut it off automatically and pair it again as was described for me to do manually after each use. I take off TWO STARS in rating the quality of this Pencil as a result of NO POWER CONTROL and SHORT BATTERY LIFE.

I'LL TAKE OFF ONE MORE STAR FOR APPLE SUPPORT ADVISOR POOR knowledge of this issue which has been mentioned now at many, many (Non-Apple) places. Is this some well-undisclosed feature? I don't think so! I will say that when it's on, the Pencil is quite responsive, though short lived.

    Not too bad

    • Written by Anne R from Olmsted Falls

I purchased this with my iPad 9.7" iPad. It works as a stylus as well as for drawing and writing. I like it s stylus, at times it is easier to tap an icon or even play a game instead of always use your fingers.
It works right out of the box, pairs without any problems with my iPad and keeps a charge fairly long. Once paired with the iPad it shows the battery level as a widget.
What I don't like is that I have to take the lightning tip at the end off and replace it with the adapter to charge it via USB charging cable, while in the meantime the lightning connecting (very small) piece CAN get lost really easy. I am shopping for a charging dock, but the reviews make me think twice.
If you don't mind putting those tiny tips on and off it is a great pencil.
Charging through the iPad is not an option for me,

    Poor execution

    • Written by Brent G from Wildwood

We have been really disappointed with the Apple Pencil. We did not use it often enough and as a result the battery will no longer charge. Once the 2018 9.7 iPad released we tried to use it again and it's a paperweight. There is no way to change the battery, so this was just a waste of $99.

Not worth the price and below my expectations coming from Apple. This device needs more R&D. Its sensitive to use and really does not have $100 worth of functionability. Needs improvement and more capabilities. That all said, it's a nice device for note taking, probably a $49.99 price point item.
