    Terrible adaptor don't get it!

    • Written by Habib A

It is a total nonsense. It spoils super fast and it was made with no quality. I guess Apple's QA is dead. Such a shame!!!

Works but fell apart in less than a year

    • Written by Katherine S from Spring Green

Please--apple, if you are going to make it so other headphones (superior headphones, I might add) don't work with your phone, have an adaptor make doesn't break apart in a few months. I tried getting one from another source, and of course you have made it so they don't work (not supported--pfft). I HATE your earbuds--they hurt my ears and I can't hear out of the right one. You have another type of earphone/bud thing, but I'm not going to risk $59.99 knowing your accessories are made so shoddy. As much as this product stinks, I am forced to order another one if I want to hear audiobooks on my phone. And I have to use the painful earbuds on phone calls because with this adaptor, the microphone on my decent earphones doesn't work. Shame on you.

I Purchased one to use with my new iPhone XR and my corded Bose headphones. They work great and the microphone and in call capabilities also work with this adopter . Previous reviews said they didn’t but on my new iPhone XRit is working.

    Didn’t last 6 months

    • Written by Mark R from Weymouth

Pathetically flimsy / weak and poorly made, it didn’t last 6 months before the sound started cutting out and also things like voice control were being activated randomly or whatever I was listening to would pause / unpause repeatedly.

Do I have to buy two of these each year I own this phone - just to use my blasted headphones which I didn’t need an adaptor for before? What a complete scam / waste, won’t bother buying another iPhone if this isn’t fixed by the time I upgrade.

    Practically enraged

    • Written by Paula H from Garfield

For about a year this device worked perfectly fine. I could pause and play and skip with my headphone controls perfectly fine. i even bought a few extra just to have around. Now I think this device has some sort of problem with static or movement? I know the problem isn’t my headphones and I’m almost positive it’s not my phone, although I have for a long time thought it was. I’ll be listening to music or podcasts and my media will start skipping like a broken record or pausing itself or playing the next thing or starting over. It’s agonizing. If I accidentally touch the adapter my music pauses. This is totally inconvenient because I work at a job where I do a lot of movement and my media pauses every few seconds. In my car the adapter just stops working mid song (every song) and I have to unplug and plug back in to continue the song. I hope they make an improved version soon. Or at least just have headphones with lighting capabilities more readily available in more stores.

    Worst Apple product ever

I think I'm on my 6th adapter now. So that's around £60 and I'm 100% sure I'll buy a new one and it will start failing in a few months.

    Worst Apple product to date

    • Written by Georgie M from hemel hempstead

After taking the leap to an iPhone without the headphone jack I was bitterly disappointed and almost persuaded to downgrade again because of this awful product. Within a day (yes one day of owning the phone) the adapter had started malfunctioning and kept putting my phone into Siri or pausing the music on its own. I didn’t use it for a few weeks and found that it still did it but not as much, now it won’t work at all, just annoyingly loud crackling sounds. All in all I’ve used this product for roughly about 12 hours in total and it’s now useless and I have to go and buy another one. Nice to know that they’ve found a sure way of making more money from people after already over pricing their phones.

    Fourth adaptor in 1 year

Echoing most of the poor reviews already made on this little adaptor, its very poor quality with no durability. Apple really dropped the ball when changing the earphone jack point.

    Shonky technology, shonky quality

    • Written by Nick B from Ross on Wye

Apple ditching the 3.5mm jack socket was a major step backwards. Now I've got to use this overpriced rubbish adapter cable that becomes detached, is easily lost and is completely unnecessary. This is a massive price for a little cable and Apple can only charge this because ... there is simply no alternative.

Don't expect it to last long either, I'm on my third so far. Or was that the idea all along Apple?

    So disappointed!

    • Written by Timothy J from Houston

I bought 2 of these at the Apple Store at $9 each and neither of them work. I have confirmed it is the adapters themselves and not my phone or the headphones I am trying to use. What a pain it will be to return to the Apple Store and get these returned for replacement adapters which will be broken when new like these were or will break within the first few months of use. So disappointed in this product and that Apple removed the headphone jack.

    ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

    • Written by Ghada M from Ancaster

I must have gone through 3 of these in the past 4-5 months. I cannot explain the amount of frustration I feel when I am trying to use my headphones but instead have to deal with random skipping, siri, and pausing without my control. I am beyond disappointed with Apple. I have been using Apple products for easily 13 years and have never dealt with such a major issue. The functionality is absolutely terrible and so incredibly inconvenient. I have never thought about using a non-Apple phone before but now I am starting to because of this issue. I did not realize how common this problem is until I saw all the reviews. Shame on you, Apple!

    Horrible Product, Doesn't Last

    • Written by Sindhu S from Santa Monica

I'm on my third lightning adapter since April. They don't last more than 2-3 months and are very cheaply made. Very annoying and inconvenient to get fixed so frequently; I hope Apple improves the quality of this product.

Everyone has missed the point of this product

    • Written by daniel H from Ooltewah

For what this accessory is meant to do I give it a 5 star rating because it does exactly what it’s made for, controlling output. The fact that the majority of people gave this a 1 star is idiotic. The only purpose of this accessory is to transfer the audio from old earbuds or headsets with a female adapter head. How can you expect this cheap device that was made for one purpose to do all these advanced things that Bluetooth devices or directly plugged in devices can do ex. iPhone 6’s direct audio port. The iPhone’s direct ports are what allows the device to control it not the adapter. So when using the adapter it overrides the iphones control and only transfers the audio, it doesn’t input the signal from a mic, only outputs sound. I have a pair of bass boosted earbuds that work perfectly with this accessory although the earbuds don’t have a mic only inline pause and skip button. The audio pauses and skips because that is the purpose of the accessory to control the sound being output. The accessory has no input driver and won’t have it because that’s not it’s purpose so don’t rate this a one star because you couldn’t understand why it doesn’t have an unintended use.

    These things are rubbish

    • Written by Scott B from Llanfairfechan

I have never bought something so dreadful. They are actually shocking. To think apple have the audacity to sell these things is beyond me. Unfortunately you can’t rate this 0 stars, but I wish you could. If you have half a brain cell, you would not buy this. SERIOUSLY, DO NOT BUY THIS.

    Awful quality

    • Written by Paul G from Shrewsbury

The fact that you have to buy one of these separately after already spending £1000 on an iPhone Xs is terrible. The only thing worse is the actual quality if these, I don't think it's going to last even 3 months! I'd give it zero stars if it were possible.

    Not worth it anymore

    • Written by Abby D from Cedarvalley

The most frustrating thing on a flight is having your headphones break on the plane just before you take off... just kidding... what’s worse is having your stupid “dongle” break on a plane. At least you can buy other headphones. This stupidly unnecessary cord is extremely unreliable. I am selling my I phone and getting a Samsung. I am so displeased of apples descision to remove the headphone jack. I have maybe spent more than $100 in half the year buying replacement dongles for my stupid phone. All of which break. I bought a new one on Friday and it’s already broken. It’s now Tuesday. Do not buy this product. Get a new phone from a company who cares about the convienience of their customers.
