The perfect complement to your iPad Pro

    • Written by Bradley C from Papillion

This is Apple's case that they want everyone to use. It's an evolution on their Smart Cover if you have ever used one. The keys actually feel pretty good, better than the keys on the 9.7" iPad Pro even though you think it wouldn't make a difference. I love the soft cloth type material that lays against the screen. Call me crazy but I think it helps wipe smudges off the screen when I close it. The stand is also surprisingly stable, I can push on any part of the screen and it doesn't wobble. It also sticks to the desk decently well and doesn't slide around. It has a small footprint when it's open. It also works well sitting Indian style (my favorite seated position), seated at a desk and when sitting on a couch. It does not work as well when laying in bed though due to it's fixed angle. I found that the angle works in most places but it just doesn't when laying down. I found myself holding it to get the perfect angle. The keyboard also has the option of folding around to the back of the case when you want to use the iPad like an iPad instead of like a laptop. Overall, the case looks good and functions well. It shows off the beautiful design of the iPad and doesn't add much weight. I do wish that they made an option with leather or gave us color choices to the keyboard. There is no backlighting but that doesn't bother me that much. I've known the keyboard for most of my life and all the keys are where they should be, if you need to look down the light from the iPad screen is enough to see them. The keys sit close to the screen and you can easily reach up and touch the screen while using the keyboard. There is no Apple Pencil holder, it would be so easy to add it somewhere but they want you to buy the sleeve. However, using the Apple Pencil was a joy when you can just fold the cover back or just pop it off. I just used an old Microsoft Surface Pen Loop (ironic?) on my iPad to hold the pen. It's the perfect case for someone who wants to use the iPad as a tablet with a keyboard.

Lightweight. And thin....just what I need,,Perfect for Road Warrior apps...

    • Written by Charles D from River Vale

I juse my ipad for use while travelling. I always purchase light and thin. Thin, so that it fits in my briefcase without causing bulging that can cause files,. Letter and presenttqion paper to look old, use and gnarly. Light, so that mobility is easier during the day. PERFECT match to what I wanted..and workinig well.

I woulld like to see a keyboard with illumination, but the existing alternatives in the market, get heavy and bulky fast... Is their someway to create a thin, light solution? Until then..keyboard ROCKS1

Works perfectly with a third party case for the back.

    • Written by Brad A from Sherwood Park

I originally purchased the Logitech Slim Combo as I liked the idea of having the back of the device protected and a holder for the Apple Pencil. Unfortunately it is very big and bulky and turned the iPad into more of a laptop, which I didn't want. I found a clear case for the back of the iPad Pro 10.5 on Amazon and it is made to work with the Apple Smart Keyboard. This gave me the benefit of having the lighter, sleeker Apple Smart Keyboard and having protection to the back of the Ipad without adding a lot of bulk. It's nice to be able to remove the keyboard when just using as a tablet as well.

I haven't experienced any issues with balance when using it on my lap or on a desk. Works great and after a few uses you really get used to the keyboard.

All in all, very happy with this keyboard. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the expensive price, having to purchase a case for the back of the iPad separately and not having an Apple Pencil holder (although you can use the magnet on the front of the case to attach the Apple Pencil, but it's not overly secure and can fall off fairly easily).

    Fantastic accessory!

    • Written by John B from Park City

The iPad Pro 10.5" and Smart Keyboard work extremely well together. I find the keyboard easy and efficient to use despite having large hands. Response time is immediate and I am completely impressed with the function of the keyboard. The only reason I did not give five stars is because the folding/unfolding process is a bit unwieldy. I'm sure I will become more proficient at it with more use, but it is a bit clumsy when setting up and folding. Otherwise, this is a outstanding tool that definitely expands ability to use an iPad for more things.

    Gets the job done

    • Written by Daniel A from Salt lake city

I love this keyboard. It is easy to use and very light weight. I needed a keyboard that would sit on my lap while on the train without it falling over or feeling too clumsily. This Smart Keyboard works great on desk surfaces and on your lap.

With the iPad being bigger this keyboard feels a lot more comfortable that then 9.7 iPad. It took me about a day to get used to the way the keyboard feels but loved using the familiar Mac shortcuts on it.

The keyboard certainly does not feel very durable and the fiber like material attracts a lot of debris on the keyboard. I also wish there were more of a color variation than just grey.

Works Great, Just a little pricey

    • Written by Kelly F from Brentwood

Bought my new iPad Pro 10.5 today along with the Smart Keyboard. I'm not sure what the issue is for the folks who have put negative reviews on here stating the keyboard doesn't lay flat. This works perfectly for me. It is totally flat when I have it sitting on a table or desk. When I have the keyboard totally folded up and behind the iPad in a triangle the way a normal Smart Cover works, it has an added benefit of making the iPad stand up a little straighter than a regular Smart Cover. This is good for FaceTime. I wish the price was a little lower of course hence my 4 star rating, but this product is designed well and works well.

Works well...a few design flaws tho

    • Written by Sara P from Westborough

The keyboard works flawlessly with my iPad Pro 10.5. However, I have two complaints about the design of the keyboard and one suggestion for an additional product. My first complaint is that there is no way to prop up your iPad without having the keyboard exposed, sometimes I just want to have the screen propped and use my apple pen, however, I accidentally hit the keyboard sometimes and it can also make using the iPad a little uncomfortable. My second complaint is that the keyboard/cover pops off of the iPad pretty easily, offering no sort of protection to the front screen of your iPad. My one suggestion for an additional product would be to add an optional numerical pad that somehow connects to the iPad or keyboard. Overall it is very helpful for classes and work.

    Works as advertised

    • Written by Anthony C from Kissimmee

The cover is what it is. Its ultra-thin, and allows you to type leaving the screen real-estate for apps. Is it perfect, No. But this is the real world, and nothing is perfect. Does it balance convenience with function? Yep! sure does! so in my book the Smart Keyboard is a winner and a keeper

Like it so far, a bit expensive

    • Written by Lauren S from St Clair shores

I purchased this keyboard with my first iPad Pro in February, it has worked perfectly for me in the last 8 months. I like the easy magnetic attachment and the fact that is doubles as a case. I haven’t had any issues so far. Keyboard strokes are fluid. I got some sticky sauce on the felt portion of the keyboard and was pleasantly surprised that it wiped was able to be wiped off with a damp cloth, leaving no stain or residue. It was a bit expensive though.

The Best iPad Keyboard By Far - But There’s Still Room For Improvemenmt

    • Written by 준현 문 from 성남시 분당구 운중동

    - Great tactile response for such a thin keyboard
    - Smart Connector negates the need for any pairing or charging - it’s already ready for use, just like a laptop keyboard
    - Unlike a laptop keyboard, it doubles as a cover that is always attached to the iPad, which makes the device extremely versatile. I can easily use it as a normal tablet even with the Smart Keyboard on, or I can easily remove the Smart Keyboard whenever I want to use the iPad alone.
    - At 0.5 pounds, it’s very lightweight for an iPad keyboard case, which usually weighs more than 0.8 pounds
    - Pretty stable for such a lightweight and thin keyboard case made out of fabric
    - It’s dust, water and spill resistant

    - No backlighting (understandable because the keyboard needs to be thin enough to be used as a cover)
    - I wish it could be even lighter and thinner. The device itself is about 1 pound, so relatively spreaking Smart Keyboard is about half the weight of the device it complements. With the Smart Keyboard attached it becomes as heavy as the 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
    - Only one viewing angle for typing
    - Not extremely stable on laps, or other non-flat surfaces
    - No function keys (this is also understandable because having a function row will make the keyboard bigger and harder to use it as a cover)
    - Once in a while the Smart Connector doesn’t connect properly

Overall, it’s by far the best keyboard accessory for iPad Pro if you do a lot of typing. It takes iPad productivity to a whole new level. But it still has a lot of room for improvement. It is definitely expensive, but I don’t think it’s overpriced. There is no other keyboard accessory you can get that matches the overall experience of the Smart Keyboard.

    Great Product but small-ish keys

    • Written by Timothy P from Connells Point

Bought this recently, and can honestly say I’m very pleased with it. Tactile surface and great key response. Only downfall is that the keys could have a bit more surfaces area, as they’re on the smaller side.

    Far better than expected

    • Written by Mary N from Chilliwack

After reading some of the reviews I wondered if I should order this keyboard. I decided to take a chance and I'm so happy I did. The Keyboard is excellent and does exactly what I need it to do. I have no issues with the surface and the keys are the perfect size for me.

    I've loved this solution

    • Written by Martin E from WATERLOO

For what it's worth, I have had no trouble. The "does not lie flat" argument isn't true for me--the biggest concern is that for the first maybe minute or two of use, the keyboard takes time to settle onto a flat surface, and then it's fine. I bought my keyboard with the iPad, when it was released, so it's over a year now, and I've had no connectivity or compatibility issues. The only complaints I have at all are that the labels for certain oft-used keys like N or A are starting to rub off, and the lack of backlighting, which in such a slim device seems a forgivable omission. Otherwise, I've used this thing as my main driver for authoring, and have at least 90-100,000 words written on it so far without a hiccup. I find the keys surprisingly springy and click-y in a good way, the thing is spill and dust proof, and while it does nothing to protect the back of the device, the front seems fine. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this product. (using US layout, BTW).

Great Feel, Spill Resistant, Fast But... Section 508 Accessible it is NOT

    • Written by William C from Bristow

Really love the keyboard and have had one on each iPad using it regularly. My iPad 12.9" generation 1 has had the keyboard on it since it came out in Sept 2015. Yes, the lettering can wear and yes the space bar gets shiny with use. I have one on my iPad Pro 10.5 as well, same story.

The biggest single problem is that there is no way to activate the "Siri keyboard" or "speech to text" when the keyboard is attached. You must remove the keyboard to have the iPad soft keyboard appear. Then it eventually activates the speech to text and the button with the microphone appears.

I will commonly use speech-to-text to dictate my emails, my notes, and even in Pages for word processing. Not having a microphone key on Apple iOS keyboards is a huge hinderance, even for those not disabled for which it is a necessity.

As other reviewers have noted, Apple's attention to detail on this product is somewhat disappointing.

When any Apple keyboard is attached, the iPad is no longer Section 508 Accessibility qualified. Accordingly the Apple keyboard needs to be banned from government purchasing as it is operates contrary to accessibility use law.

Not perfect but one of the best

    • Written by Lee S from Singapore

Have always used Logitech products. Rarely disappointed by them. The same goes for this one. Those who criticize this product are those who expect everything out of a product (perfect design and a low cost). There is no such thing! When you have a full solid cover, detachable backlit keyboard, a kickstand that articulates a wide range of angles in landscape mode (can stand in portrait mode as well) , additional row of function buttons, there would be compromises in terms of weight and size. I can't find another keyboard that offers all these at this price (even though it's not cheap, but still cheaper than Apple's). Frankly, the trick is to know how to place it on your lap to type. Given any other laptop on your lap, you will still complain about the impossible amount of heat generated from your laptop. But iPad doesn't have this problem at all! I'd rather try to find the best position to balance it on my lap than to suffer from the impossible amount of heat generated by laptop. I didn't regret buying this over Apple's version.
