    Love this case

    • Written by James L from Hellifield

Being a lover of folio cases, generally preferring the OtterBox Strass series, I ordered this case in September last year for when I received my new iPhone. It’s definitely the best folio case I’ve ever used. It’s a great design and oozes quality when held in the hand. The leather is super smooth and soft to the touch but extremely durable. I’ve had this case on for pretty much a year, and other than a few scuffs on the leather it is as good as when I bought it. Most importantly removed my phone from the case to see that my phone is in absolute pristine condition, not a mark anywhere on it front or back, which is a first for me after a year of heavy use, so it certainly does its job well! The fact that opening and closing the case wakes and sleeps the display is a fantastic feature. Already ordered my next one for the 11.

    Extremely disappointed

    • Written by Paul K from Brisbane

I purchased this to protect and enhance my iPhone. After 3 months I noticed the case starting to go black around corners. I persisted hoping it wouldn’t get any worse. After 6 months the black on the corners was so gross and discolouring I’ve stopped using it. I’m shocked that something that cost me A$145 has lasted 6 months. It’s so blackened and discoloured I won’t use it.

Bruhh this ain't it 🙅🏾‍♂️ not that price

    • Written by Merjé B from Cedar Rapids

I mean it's expensive for what you get. I've had mine for 4 months now, the wallet got bigger due to wear and tear, and it barely locks my screen when I close it anymore. just the leather case without the wallet if you're thinking about it because I ended up buying the leather case without the wallet. just saying ‍♂️

Badly designed wallet. Not worth the price.

    • Written by Mark M from Wallasey

To start the flap on this case is way too big. And i mean way too big. When folded or closed it just doesn't sit right on the phone. This has been mentioned in other reviews for the same folio case for previous models. I see apple are still not listening to their customers

Also there is a built in magnet that activates/locks the screen but this case desperately need a magnet that also holds the case closed, especially with the oversized flap.

Its actually comical and typical of Apples arrogance that they charge £130 for this cover when its not even close to being worth that...But they know customers will pay it without them having to put any effort into the design.

    Nice case but its expensive.

    • Written by Theo Z from WILLOUGHBY

This case suits the XS Max perfectly but its very expensive at $199 Australian dollars. It fits 2 credit cards without creating a large hump in the middle and the wallet compartment will fit Australian $50, $20, $10 & $5 notes. Its a perfect wallet replacement if you only carry 2 cards and cash. Apple please reduce the price to get 5 stars.

Expencive but protects the phone well

    • Written by david W from fordingbridge

i have full confidence with the case in the protection department, no problems there, but it looks and feels like plastic! i have reverted back to this case from my Vaja leather case as this iPhone case wakens and sleeps when opening or closing, since i have and Esim and a sim in the tray want to save battery life, as it happens the battery still lasts 2 days with the duel sim, saying that i would buy again.

    So disappointed

    • Written by Anthony B from Indio

Was really hoping this case would deliver. Nope. Not at all. Only good thing is the leather quality. That’s it. After that everything else falls short. The front just swings open and closed with no thought that it will move around in pocket and turn on and off draining battery life. Ok. Annoying but if that was all I’d be ok. Nope. The folio part has only one designated slot for I’m guessing your ID and then just a big open slit. Just small enough NOT to fit a dollar bill. So your forced to just shove your credit card and money in the big pocket for it to get unorganized and a mess which then leads me to the bulk it produces and doesn’t stay shut. Huge design flaws. This could have been a great design with designated individual slots for credit cards and one extra pocket if you needed to put cash. RETURNED. Oh and found exactly what I described on amazon for 1/4 the price! Go figure!

Folio cases have saved my phone's more then once.

    • Written by Michael L from Redmond

I'm clumsy, there I said it and it is true. I drop things all the time and not easy drops we are talking phone ending catastrophies. I try to catch the phone only to make it go spinning wildly and gain more momentum. The problem with most cases is they protect the sides and back well but not the front. That leather flap on the folio may not look like much but it does protect that front screen way more then you would think. I have never busted a phone in a quality folio case. This is a quality folio case. The craftmanship is high as are the materials. Plus you can keep cards and cash in it. Bet on genuine Apple accessories, are you really going to cheap out on that $1.2k phone? This is a classy cover for those who appreciate more.

Not as good as the iPhone X case

    • Written by John N from Auburn

Bought this folio case for my iPhone X and loved the case. Upgraded a couple weeks ago to iPhone XS Max and bought same folio case for my phone and same for my wife's new iPhone XS Max. Both of our folio cases are starting to warp at the top and bottom on the folio side. The folio will just not sit flat, up on both ends. Still functional, but makes the case look cheap. If we can't resolve the issue, we will be returning the case. Too expensive of a case to not function properly..

    iPhone XS Max Leather Folio

    • Written by Ahmed A from Sharjah

Very expensive case which costs $150 is poorly designed. When you make a call and close the cover (to bring it next to your ear to listen), the call drops. I find this flaw very irritating. The purpose of a phone is to talk to others and every accessory must keep this in focus. Apple failed to validate this product.

    Looks good at first

    • Written by Richard G from Graham

For the money that was spent on this leather folio, I was expecting it to look luxurious for some time. I have owned the case for about Three weeks now. I am not sure if I received a defected case, but with the apple name and price paid you would expect a high quality product. With my leather folio it is already starting to show obvious signs of deterioration along the center seem separating the front and back, makes it look like and makes me wonder if this product is fake leather. The case also arrived with a nice scuff and indention right above the rear camera lense. Highly disappointed in this product.

I just purchased mine and it is a premium case. The fact that it turns the phone off is a plus in terms of saving battery power.

    Perfect product

    • Written by V C from Sheffield

As a die hard, long time Otterbox Strada folio fan I bought the apple black leather folio on the 21st Sept as a temporary measure to protect my new iPhone xs max until Otterbox released a black Strada folio for this handset. However, I’m not going to be bothering swapping over as this case is just perfect. I love that it turns my iPhone off when I close the case and wakes it when I open it. The leather is butter soft and feels great in my hand, much more comfortable to hold than the Strada. The card and wallet area are more functional than the Strada’s making the case more useful when out and about. The phone surround is sturdy, protective and fits like a glove. The embossed Apple logo on the back just feels so right with this premium phone. The side buttons are made of sturdy metal and again fit & work to perfection unlike the leather ‘bumps’ on the Strada, which never bothered me until I used the superior side buttons on the Apple case. It’s worthy of the Apple name as both form and function have obviously been carefully thought through. Is it worth £129.00? Yes. A £1499.00 phone deserves a perfect case and this is it.

    Good case for most people

    • Written by Scott S from Bainbridge Island

I love the feel of the leather. It is soft and classy looking, I have had iPhones since they first came out and until I got the X, I never dropped one. One day I tripped on some stairs and the iPhone X went flying onto the cement while in my non folio Apple leather case. It suffered a small scratch on the bottom of the screen. Point of the story is in about 10 years of holding iPhones, I only had one incident of a drop and then only had minor scratches, so do I really need to pack my beautiful $1500 iPhone xs Max in a giant rubber box which barely fits into my pocket. Probably not. Going back to my story, if I had a folio, I doubt that my X would have had any damage, so that is what I am buying for my new xs Max. You do need to treat your phone as an expensive and fragile piece of tech which it is. But this case will protect it from keys and coins which is the real and more common threat and probably from most waist high drops. But if you are dropping it from the second story of your office building, you should probably look for a military grade case. I think most drops occur when taking the iPhone out of the case and it slips. As for the case I like the supple pliability of the cover flap which you can easily fold back without covering the camera or rear speaker. Other folios have thick leather which may not be pliable enough to do this. I think it may be slightly overpriced so I did not give it 5 stars, but as folios go, I think it is the most classy and best feeling leather and has the perfect fit for the phone. I have not had a problem with the case moving and turning the phone on in my pocket that others have reported. Not sure how that happens. Also have not had the cover flap flop open unintentionally, but I could imagine it might happen if it were to drop which could be a problem. A small inconspicuous strap around the outside would prevent this if you feel you need it. I don't.

Expensive, though premium. Magnet doesn't work as a clasp.

    • Written by Steven S from Whitmore Lake

At first I wasn't very keen on this folio case. It's the first folio style case I've ever used and with an XS Max it felt quite bulky in my pocket. I was thinking about returning it but instead I decided to give it a try for a few days. Over a few days I started liking it more and more. It's still a bit bulky in the pocket, but manageable. I wouldn't put much more than a driver's license and maybe two other cards and no more than a few bills, but I'm a minimalist anyway so that doesn't bother me.

The case feels great to hold, the leather is nice and soft, it smells good, and I imagine it will age well as it develops a patina from use.

The only real downside is that it doesn't clasp shut. There is a magnet but it's incredibly weak and is really only good for awaking the phone when opened or putting the phone to sleep when closed, it's not effective at all as a clasping mechanism. The other downside, which doesn't have to do with form or function, is that it's incredibly expensive for what it is, but at least it really does feel super premium.
