WiFi connection stops working when the adapter is connected to the USB C port after the iPad goes to sleep. When I disconnect the adapter WiFi is working.

    Just rubbish - stay clear

    • Written by Stephen I from Guilsborough

bought this to listen to music and audio books in my car through aux as I don't have a bluetooth receiver. Paid £1000 for a phone that now doesn't allow me to do this. (My 4 year old iphone 6 worked perfectly fine) - Bought this dongle thinking it would do the trick. It essentially emits a loud hissing noise over every music or audio track being played. Completely useless and a waste of time and money.

Utterly disappointed in a company that once produced fine goods now selling cheap peripherals to solve a fundamental part of the use of their device. Hangs head in shame!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't waste your time or your money.

Keeps breaking because it's so poorly made. Apple should not have removed the 3.5mm jack, now I can't use my £300 Shure earphones without this terrible adapter that lowers the quality of sound.

I made a mistake when I bought this product. When you use it ,the iPad pro will loose the WiFi connectivity. Apple needs to fix this.

    Disrupts WiFi

    • Written by Nikolas B

Unfortunately, this is unusable since it completely disrupts the iPad's WiFi connection when waking from sleep mode. Hopefully this can be fixed by future software updates, since it seems to work otherwise.

    Clicking / No Sound

    • Written by Chris C from Altamonte Springs

I have sadly bought and had to exchange this adaptor 3 times and still don't have a functioning adaptor for my 3.5 mm Headphones. My headphones work just fine in a 3.5 mm jack, however, once I attach the adaptor and try to plug it into any USB-C port it makes a clicking noise and no other sound plays through the headphones.

Beware when purchasing this adaptor. I can only imagine this must be a faulty batch after having to replace it so many times and eventually giving up and returning for a refund. With any luck, a new batch will appear a few months from now and work as intended but for now, steer clear.

Didn’t work at all, new from the box

    • Written by Naka H from Oklahoma City

I had ordered this a few days ago. It arrived at my house today. When I plugged it in, nothing happened. Not compatible with the iPad Pro 11 inch? I should have listened to the reviews. I’ve wasted $9.80 now.

I never thought of Apple having bad products, but they do have bad products unfortunately.

    Clicking Sound

    Garbage - 0 if possible

    • Written by Brent R from Kennewick

Brand new Apple headphones, brand new APPLE adapter and it’s noisey AND has the well known “loses WiFi when plugged in” issue. Apple has continually lost more mojo as Cook runs the company into the ground. These technical issues are a serious problem that Apple has not been addressing PRIOR to releasing.(iPad Pro 11”)

Tried 2, neither connect properly with any of my massive amount of cables

    • Written by Dallas B from Chippewa Lake

So, tried 2 of these, neither make a full connection with any of my 3.5mm cables. I have a lot of audio cables, many brands, still only high frequencies are coming through. I have NO issue using a type c hub with a usb audio interface, works great. It just causes problems because I have to record through my iPad to use my iPad as an audio source, can’t connect recording interface to pc and iPad simultaneously. There should be no reason that 20 or more different 3.5mm to 1/4trs cables don’t make a connection... tried with and without adapters, tried every combo I could.
Just ordered an irig hd 2 that I shouldn’t have to order, all because this apple adapter doesn’t make full connection... then IK charges 30 dollars for a type c to micro usb cable that is needed for 3rd gen IPad Pro, and somehow seem to have made irig not work without their proprietary cable...
Anyways, yeah, this has been a headache for me as an audio engineer. Egh...

Stops working within a few months

    • Written by Antoine S from Paris

No matter what I do, I have to buy another adapter every 2 months. I use it a lot but that's no excuse:

    - Either it just stops working at once
    - Or it controls the music (pause, next, back) upon any small movements in the pocket, after just a few weeks of use

I recommend you make it available at 1$ for it not to be a constant charge to your customers

Really disappointed :c DO NOT buy this.

    • Written by Pennie E from Lynnwood

Reading that so many others are having the same issues makes me feel a bit better.
I opened it out of the box yesterday. Got it strait from a nice big apple store. Plugged it into my iPad Pro3 12.9” and all I have ever gotten is a clicking. It surprises me so many people are getting the same result. You would think these people would make all their products quality.

DO NOT buy this. If anything, test it before you leave the store. Better yet, buy yourself a nice set of blue tooth headphones.

    Biggest disappointment of my life

    • Written by Christabelle C

I bought it without reading through the reviews. When u plugged it into my IPad Pro 12.9inch, it didn’t register the headphones and continue to play via speaker. It makes me upset that I wasted 1000yen on this. Why would Apple continue to sell something that doesn’t work? There is no setting that helps register my headphones. Disappointing. If anyone has suggestions on how to fix this please tell me. If no do not buy this product unless you know it would work for your device.

    Unfortunately doesn’t work.

    • Written by Dylan C from Eagle Mountain

Unfortunately I tried the adapter with my new skull candy earbuds and my new iPad Pro didn’t register that anything was plugged into it. I feel cheated. I of course tried my friends apple earbuds and they worked. This is such a very irritating predicament, there’s no reason my skull candy earbuds shouldn’t be working.

    Barely works, try another company

    • Written by Laurence D from Gatineau

I bought an Ipad pro 2018 12’’9 and because I don’t own any USB-C headphone, I decided to buy this dongle as well. I didn’t do any research beforehand or read any reviews because I thought, this is only a dongle, how could they mess it up? Well, I don’t know how, but they managed to render these dongles useless.

Immediately you see that it’s pretty cheap: it’s really short and the wire is extremely thin. While the 3.5mm jack goes in deep and is secure, the usb-c connector feels fragile. I don’t know how long it’ll remain usable, but I don’t expect it to make it through the year.

Now comes the second and biggest problem: it simply doesn’t work as advertised. When I plugged it for the first time, I heard a discreet but continuous clicking sound, every second. I thought it wasn’t such an issue, that I had the same problem with my xps13 laptop and that it didn’t bother me much. But after trying to listen to some music, I realized that the ipad did not recognize my headphones and simply played the melody through the speakers. Confused, I unplugged and plugged the wire, the headphones, tried rebooting my Ipad, changed headphones and basically troubleshooted everything before making my way here. I wasn’t all that surprised to find many people with the same problem as me, some even going back to a year ago. After numerous tests, my Jabra Move Headset did work, but my many (easier to transport) smaller headphones did not.

Even after extensive hours of research, I did not find any conclusive solution except this one: don’t buy this product.
