There are two Apple Pencil models. The original Apple Pencil is compatible with the 12.9‑inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation), 10.5‑inch iPad Pro, 9.7‑inch iPad Pro and iPad (6th generation). Apple Pencil (2nd generation) is compatible with the 12.9‑inch iPad Pro (3rd and 4th generation) and 11‑inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation).
All iPad Pro models, iPad (7th generation), iPad (6th generation), iPad (5th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini (5th generation), iPad mini 4 and iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi + Cellular can use either the Apple SIM card with an activated account or a network provider–supported nano-SIM card.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd generation), 10.5-inch iPad Pro and 9.7-inch iPad Pro include an embedded Apple SIM.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation), 11-inch iPad Pro, iPad (7th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation) and iPad mini (5th generation) support eSIM.
