  • Overview

The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light up; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adapter has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

S Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

      Dear Apple

I really, really do. You're making it difficult though. I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple years. I was even excited when I saw the sleek, new, redesigned L-style. However, that one broke too- but this time, it was after only about two months. I tried not to take it out on you, and figured that maybe I got the one bad one in the batch, or that maybe I had been too rough with it. But here I am, typing away, pausing occasionally to wiggle the cord in order to get it to work again- for a few seconds at least. Yes, thats right, my SECOND L-style magsafe has broken, also after only a couple months. Finally, I'm realizing that it's not me, it's YOU. And you just don't seem to realize that. I called Apple support only to be told that there are "no known issues" with the L-style magsafe adapter. Oh really? Dearest apple, do you ever read the reviews your products receive? Obviously there is a known issue, and its that this product simply doesn't work if you use it for more than a month! I've enjoyed your sleek design and better usability, but honestly, I think I'm leaving you. For a PC.

Have had it a total of maybe, 2-3 weeks and if I want to charge my laptop the cable has to be put into a very specific position. Also the metal head that connects to your macbook gets very hot and can burn you. I will be requesting a replacement and would hope that apple would stop using cheap materials and over charging because of their brand.

      Total rip-off

I'm on my fourth one of these. How can apple justify charging this amount for something that has the durability of a plastic fork?! No wonder they're the bigges I'm on my fourth one of these. 8 Good Years

I purchased my Macbook Pro in 2011. I've never had to replace the adaptor until today. Needless to say it's money well spent on a quality item.

      Worst Power Cord Ever Overpriced!

I love my MBP but every year and a half my powercord goes bad. My first one frayed at the transformer and I let it go for too long and it finally shorted out and my MBP restarted. Bought a new cord and for about 6 months I had this annoying problem with my MBP restarting whenever I was running data intensive programs. Found out the Short circuit from my old power cord destroyed a ram stick. So since then any time my cord would get a bit warped I would replace until the last two... The last two cords have malfunctioned at the actual magnetic port. The first one the metal ring came off and the last that I just replaced today... The springs behind the copper pins failed. Now the fact that Ive had my MBP for 7 years is amazing. The 79.99 for a new cord for the 6th time is getting ridiculous. Apple Please lower the price of this part. Once this power cord goes bad thats it. This problem has had a serious impact on me purchasing a new model.
