  • Overview

Crafted from the same 316L stainless steel alloy as the case, the Link Bracelet has more than 100 components. The machining process is so precise, it takes nearly nine hours to cut the links for a single band. The custom butterfly closure folds neatly within the bracelet. And several links feature a simple release button, so you can add and remove links without any special tools.

Very disappointed as I expected a higher standard for an apple product especially at the steep price.

      Scratches and shows wear easily

This band looks great from afar but after you've worn it for a few weeks you can really see the scratches and wear and tear on the finish if you look closely. This band looks great from afar but after you've worn it for a few weeks you can really see the scratches and wear and tear on the finish if you look closely. Other than the easily marred finish it is a well designed and beautiful band

I recommend not wearing it too often, especially at work. It will scruff and scratch from constant use. I've had mine 3 years now, and it still looks ok. It is scratched up where it has been worn while using a computer. ie. The friction of your wrist on the desk. I started just wearing it out on special occasions as I saw this wear and tear and got a much cheaper band from ebay. Overall it is a stunning piece but scratches too easily. If you want wear this all the time it's going to wear quickly. Think hard before you buy.

The first time, it was replaced because I had purchased Apple Care on the watch... and I had a couple of extra links that I have used to replace the broken ones. This thing might be precision machined out of stainless steel... but it doesn't hold up. I would expect that a $600 stainless steel band would last at least the life of the watch. I have had 7 other stainless steel banded watches in my life, and not one has ever broken just by wearing it. I now have to replace the band again, at my own cost this time. I am not impressed at all. I am very disappointed and I would not recommend this watch band at all. I wish I had never bought it in the first place.

      DO BUY THIS BAND

That’s the downside of stainless steel—even, or better I say 316L stainless steel. This is not Platinum or White Gold which do not scratch or much at all. Those are hard metals. Be glad that Apple chose to slightly brush this band rather than polish it to a high gloss—you would find scratches just blowing on it. Not really, but almost. The watch is polished stainless 316L Stainless Steel and it, too, will show scratches if you rub it up against anything. One solution is to purchase a stainless steel polish that will remove the small scratches with a soft cloth and a little rubbing. Try purchasing a Ceramic Band (Aftermarket) for a top class and elite band that goes well with the watch. It will not scratch. Otherwise, live with it. And no, Apple would love to put them in the store to try on, but theft is one problem and the other is making enough for every store in the world to have one. One other suggestion that a friend of mine did — he took his SS band to a jeweler and had it brushed further so it would not show as many scratches. It did not cost much and it really worked. It’s still very beautiful and it solved the problem.
