Worst design of an Apple product that I've encountered

Let me begin by saying that the original Magic Mouse was and is my all-time favorite mouse, hands down. I love it, and would easily give it 5 stars. But the Let me begin by saying that the original Magic Mouse was and is my all-time favorite mouse, hands down. I love it, and would easily give it 5 stars. But then they "upgraded" it to the Magic Mouse 2. For all the ingenious designs that Apple has come up with, how did they ever manage to think up the idea of putting the recharging port on the bottom of the mouse, which makes it completely useless while recharging! All the designers would have needed to do is look at a corded mouse: put the recharging port on the front... and voila! A rechargeable cordless mouse that can temporarily function as a corded mouse while its being recharged! Seriously Apple, how did no one see this problem? I am very disappointed in you guys on this one. I'm sure Steve is too.

The feel of the mouse, the functionality, the build quality are all class-leading... but who in the world thought that sticking the charging port on the base of the mouse was a good idea?! And not allowing the mouse to be used whilst being charged? Seriously?! WHY? What a stupid thing to do Apple. What does someone do when they're working and their mouse runs out? Am I expected to buy two of these things??? Aargh. Here's a solution, Apple... what if the mouse could become a wired mouse whilst charging? Stick the port in the front-end of the mouse and have it work whilst charging so I don't have to use my laptops trackpad for intricate design work.

      Who are these people?

Is someone paying irrational, cantankerous antagonists to write one-star reviews? Anything they don't love is automatically "the worst thing ever!" All of these Is someone paying irrational, cantankerous antagonists to write one-star reviews? Anything they don't love is automatically "the worst thing ever!" All of these extremely low reviews are incredible... as in "not even remotely credible." This mouse looks and feels like the last one - only a little lighter. Ergonomics, weight, appearance, functionality... all great things, and all much better than your average third-party product. The mouse plugs in to charge... and this is somehow horrible? Upside-down is a bit weird and you don't use it while it is charging. How does that make this a one-star product? Don't you ever sleep? Can't you remember to plug your mouse in overnight once a month? This is way better than having to change the batteries every two weeks. Do you gripe about your phone because you have to put it down once in a while to charge it? So it doesn't work with some of the older system software? Well in most cases, neither should you. How does that make this product abysmal? Your wrist hurts? That is not the mouse's fault. Operator error does not make a product atrocious any more than a drunk driver makes a a particular brand of car a hazard to drive. This mouse is a great product. An improvement over the already-good last version. Would I prefer a third party mouse over this one? No thanks. I'll give my five stars right here without apology.

All you had to Whose bright idea was it to put the charging port at the bottom of the mouse!?!?!?!?!? You literally cannot use it when the mouse is re-charing. All you had to do was put it on the front of the mouse (as other reviewers have suggested. I never remember to charge it until I get the notification that it is low. Thus begins a endless circle where I charge it for as long as I can stand to be working and not use the mouse, then unplug to use, then low battery notification, then charge for a few more minutes, on and on and on. When charged the mouse is great, no problems, but the port being on the bottom of the mouse is idiotic. Someone should have realized this.

Generally, great; but the charging port should be changed

The Magic Mouse 2 is generally great, and just as functional as the original, although lighter. But you have to wonder what the Apple designers were thinking w The Magic Mouse 2 is generally great, and just as functional as the original, although lighter. But you have to wonder what the Apple designers were thinking when they put the charging port on the bottom of the mouse, making it unavailable when charging. It seems obvious that the charging port should have been located at the back of the mouse, i.e., the end where the Apple logo is located, and the firmware programmed to allow use while charging. Also, it should have come with a Mac computer software update to incorporate a battery monitor display (there is one available for a small fee in the App Store). Of course, it is a simple matter to let the mouse charge overnight when you are not using it once it runs down, but maximum functionality would be achieved by making these changes.

      Nice design but....

Love the mouse EXCEPT it doesn't indicate when it's running low and needs to be recharged. The warning would be terrific so I could plug it in overnight. Woke u Love the mouse EXCEPT it doesn't indicate when it's running low and needs to be recharged. The warning would be terrific so I could plug it in overnight. Woke up this morning and it was essentially dead. Also needs some sort of indicator when it's fully charged. Other than that, it's a vast improvement over the old one. Perhaps Apple wants us to buy two so one can be charging while the other is in use? NOT the best solution really. NOT at the price.
