Is ist possible to use an adapter from HDMI to (mini-)displayport in order to plug in higher resolution displays then 1080p ?

The device HDMI adapter already supports up to 4K. So it would be feasible with or without the Mini Displayport adapter bit expensive for the HDMI to Displayport.
