Can this adapter be used with the late 2016 MacBook Pro?
In order to connect the DisplayPort connector to the 2016 MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 ports, it seems that a TB 3 -> TB 2 adapter is required. But from that adapters support page, it does not appear to work. Can Apple verify our Cinema Displays cannot be used with the newest late 2016 MacBook Pro?
For Mac models with Thunderbolt 3, you can use a use a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter to connect to Thunderbolt devices like displays and external disks.
Note that although it uses a Mini DisplayPort connector, the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter doesn't support connections to Mini DisplayPort displays. Also, this adapter supports only one powered Thunderbolt 2 device on a USB-C equipped Mac."

The Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter does not pass DisplayPort signals so do not use this Dual Link adapter with that.
Instead, buy a USB-C to mini DisplayPort female adapter. I'm not sure why Apple doesn't include any in the Apple store. You can buy them elsewhere. Some are similar to the "USB-C VGA Multipart Adapter" and "USB-C Digital AV Multipart Adapter" which also contain a USB-A port for USB devices and a USB-C port for charging.
