If I upgrade from Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, do I have to backup all my files first? Or will they all be there on the Snow Leopard?

    It is recommended that you do backup everything to keep from losing your data, but it is not needed to upgrade because the upgrade will only affect the operating system and some applications. It will not interfere with any of your personal data.
