Same cable that ships with 15" Macbook Pro?

Is this USB-C charge cable the same cable that ships with the new 15" Macbook Pro?

Either way, does this cable allow the full 87W of the 87W charger to be passed through to the 15" Macbook Pro? Written another way, how many watts of power can the new 15" Macbook Pro draw from the 87W charger when connected with this cable?

This is the same cable that ships with both the 13" and the 15" MacBook Pro (2016) notebooks. It can carry up to 100 Watts.

  • It definitately is *NOT* the same cable that came with the 2017 model. It is far less rigid, much lighter (39g vs. 59g) and a bit thinner (don't have batteries for my caliper so I can't say exactly how much, should be a couple of µm).

  • It would seem all USB-C cables now being shipped by Apple are fully compatible with the new Mecbook Pro's. There is a slim chance some Apple Stores may have the old cables in stock, but I believe they have been quietly removed from the shelves and replaced.
