Going from 10.6.3 to Leopard (10.5) is a downgrade, not upgrade. You would have to use Disk Utility to erase the hard drive before installing the older version of OS X.

  • Backup ALL your data from time machine, after that put the leopard disc in, click restart then once the installer window opens select your language. In the top bar select the Text saying "Utilities" then select "Disc Utility". once that app loads select the first drive, which is your hard drive then click erase from the window. As a format select "Mac OS X Journaled" then click erase. let it finish, then quit disk utility, then it loads the installer again. Install it like you would normaly do with the Mac Software. for further information visit: support.apple.com /kb/HT1544
