If I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 do I need Snow Leopard and Lion to make the new iPhone 4S and my Mac run iCloud?
I just got the iphone 4S and took it in to the Apple store for set-up. The store is over an hour away from my home so I'm quite surprised they didn't tell me I needed these software updates to run iCloud.

You can access iCloud in 10.5.8 through the web browser (Safari). This is actually reasonably convenient, and a good solution that I use for my old PowerBook G4 (a 2002 Mac running 10.5.8).
To get "native" access to iCloud on the Mac (Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks etc.) you need OS X 10.7 (aka Lion). To upgrade to Lion, you need a Mac with a Core 2 Duo processor (or better) and at least 2 GB of RAM.
