can the ipad charger be used to download software updates via a laptop running Windows?

My Mum's ipad 2 is unable to connect to her bigpond wifi. The wifi button is grey and won't allow you to turn it on. I am thinking it is because she needs to get the latest Apple software updates and as she does not have an internet connection to do it via itunes by using the charger cable into her laptop as her internet on her laptop (which is running Windows) is working via the Bigpond modem but is now no longer connecting with her iPad. Can you advise please as my Mum is 91 years old and she lives in Brisbane and I live in Sydney.

Can I use this cable with a card reader?

I have an (unpowered) SD USB card reader, if I connected this to it, using a female to female USB adaptor, would it allow me to transfer photographs to the iPad? I know the Apple camera connection kit will do this, I just wanted to save myself some extra expense.

will i be able to sync music from my pc to my ipod

i have a PC and iPod 4 and I'm trying to download some music to my iPod. is this possible using windows media player? is this possible at ALL? plez help.

Is there a 3 metre cable available? I have been using cheap Hong Kong knock offs because I need a long cable, but they charge very slowly.

An Apple 30-pin to USB cable for an iPad 2, I need it 3 metres long (or equivalent in inches - around 115, 120 inches, at a guess). I'd really prefer a genuine one over the cheap ones off eBay I've been using, as they don't charge very quickly or efficiently. I can't see one in the Apple store though, does anyone know if they're available? Thanks.

Can I sync to my Outlook calendar using USB cord? Does it need any add-on software/apps?

I am considering the switch from a Windows Mobile 6.1 Smartphone to an iPhone now that it will be available on Verizon. But, I do not want to be forced to pay for a high cost data package to connect to my Corporate server to do that. At this time I do not do any web browsing because that is not what I got a smart phone for -- I want it to be a phone and a calendar, and that is all. Maybe that will change with a better phone, but not if it means an extra $1000 over the 2 year contract.

I just want to be able to sync to Outlook using a USB cable just like I am now, or at most via a Wi-Fi connection. Any hope for me?

is there a usb to ipod connector that doesn't have a cable?

The standard cable is too long when used in my wife's car (it gets tangled with her purse that sits on the floor of the car). The perfect solution would be a USB to iPod connector that doesn't have a cable between the two ends.
