This is a perfect item. I really like the fact the cord now exits at a right angle rather than straight out. Extremely pleased.

    Not Good and doesn't last

The sheathing came off the wires on the original one that came with my macbook and lasted just over 2 years. I had to buy a new one and this one is just over 4 months old and the wires became disconnected and stopped working. Good thing it has a 1 year warranty. Hopefully don't have to replace it again soon.

    Horrible Product. Way too expensive.

I miss the old white "T" Shaped chargers. I've had this silver "L" shaped charger for less than a year and it's already quitting out on me. I have taken perfect care of this charger, and my computer has remained on my desk 90% of the time, along with my charger..untouched...yet I constantly have to wiggle and move around the cable in order to find a "sweet" spot in order to get my computer to charge. Such a headache. My MacBook Pro is no longer under warranty, which means I would have to pay full price to replace this charge. $80 + tax is way too much. I love Apple...but this is one of the worse designed chargers I have ever seen.

Why no problems with any of my MagSafe adapters?

I've used the MagSafe adapters without any problems since they were first introduced.

Between home and office, I've bought well over over a dozen MacBooks and MacBook Pro's for myself, my family and my staff, starting with three early 1.83 GHZ MacBooks, then two 2.0 GHZ 13" MacBooks, then moving to 2.2 GHZ & 2.4 GHZ 13"MacBookPro's, three 15" MacBook Pro's, two 17" MB Pro's and two 13" MB Pro's. Not a single Apple brand MagSafe power adapter has ever failed, though we have had problems with some "bargain-priced" aftermarket clones from Asia.

As far as my experience goes, the only Apple ones that stop working have had their magnetic connectors stepped on. Aside from that, the only issues we've had are the result of using the hard plastic MacBook covers; some of them prevent the connector from fitting securely in its recepticle.

I bought my first Macbook pro in Dec of 2010 and have been satisfied with everything, except the charger. FIrst of all, I take care of all of my electronics with SPECIAL care because I am not at a good economical position in life right now.(especially my mac). My charger recently died, i assume because it shocked me while i was plugged it in and hasn't worked since. I have tried charging my macbook pro on other outlets but it doesn't work. I'm on my last charge so if you buy this be aware that you might have to buy the same product even if its JUST 3 months old.

When to bed last night and everything was fine only to wake up this morning to my charger no longer working. Wasn't sure what was going on since I never had this problem with my other Mac that I had for over 3 yrs. Luckily the charger for that one still works when the one I've had less than 1 yr has failed.

I've gone through 2 of these chargers, the most recent one that broke just came right out from the magnet. After reading all the reviews you would think that Apple would design a better charger or make a stronger cable or at least make a better connection between the wire and the magnet. It makes me sad to see everyone having the same issues with this charger and Apple doing nothing to make it better yet still charging an insane amount for a new one. If they are going to break this often than Apple needs to either redesign it or lower the price to about 5 dollars, cause that's all they are really worth

    New Power Cable Design

I recently had to replace my existing power cord for my MacBook and so had to purchase the newly designed power cable. The modification to the magnetic end that plugs into the laptop is RUBBISH - it is always at an awkward angle - what was wrong with the old design? Additionally, it still has the same problem as the one I just replaced - where the end comes out of the square apple battery to the computer is awkward and makes it very easy to damage.

    terrible product

these always break. i've constantly taken care to treat these gently but there's inevitably either wire issues or it just burns out. about to purchase my third charger in about 2 years. ridiculous, not to mention way too expensive.

the idea is great, having a magnet that attaches the power cord to the computer, however, the quality is just not there. I'm disappointed that apple charges SO much for such an awful product. i had my MacBook for less then a year when i started to have problems with it. the sad thing is, it doesn't leave my desk. I could (maybe) understand if i were constantly wrapping and unwrapping it. Also, the new one doesn't fit with my cover on!

    power cord stinks!

My husband just got back from buying our THIRD power cord since we got this computer a couple of years ago. Its ridiculous!! Why in the heck do they wear out so fast. That should not be happening and I am very disappointed!!!!

New connector plug may not work with some macbook covers

I just got the adapter as a backup for my macbook (original still works), so I don't know how well it will hold up, but it seems to be built well. The problem I encountered was that the new connector, that seems designed for the macbook air, is blocked from plugging in by the hard plastic cover that I got for it. I was able to chisel out the plastic cover enough to get it to work, but it seems a design flaw to use an L connector that hugs the mac so closely.

    Lousy Powercord

The only reason I'm here shopping is because my powercord only lasted about a year. The first one that came with the computer lasted about one and a half years. So now I'm buying my THIRD one in less than 3 years. At 75 dollars a whack - plus tax -- this is ridiculous! Apple computers are great, but the powercords are awful! Shame on you Apple! You're letting a little (but vital and absolutely essential) item ruin your good reputation!

    Charger no longer works

Just bought the macbook and the accompanying charger in Dec 2010 and 3 months later the charger no longer works. I have to agree with the other users it also is very unsteady and wiggles in and out of place in the charger port.

    Terrible, terrible product

I would give this product 0 stars if they would allow it. I am on my 4th MagSafe now -- I take VERY good care of them making sure to follow all of the directions that the Apple geniuses have told me (don't yank it by the cable, don't wrap it too tightly, etc.). My first one from 2006 lasted nearly 3 years before it burned itself through the cable. My (free) replacement lasted for just over 6 months before the innards of the cable became weakened near the magnetic plug and stopped working. My third one lasted for barely over the 90-day warranty period (I'm really mad about this because the Apple store refuses to replace it without me shelling out yet again for a defectively made product. Apple really needs to step up their quality control!
