    Very overpriced for the quality

I have had my Mac Book for approximately 3 years, the laptop itself is very slow and has a very short battery life, but it's the power adapter that really make me angry, my power adapter has broken and I was thinking it would be no big deal that I would just purchase another one, but then I went to buy one and found that they are about 100$ at future shop, I honestly don't understand this, I have always liked mac, but after this I can't even use my computer, so I have to spend 100$ on top of what my computer was purchased for, I for one don't find that fair at all, the charger shouldn't even have broken in the first place, and for the record there is no point in making a magnetic attachment if it doesn't work! The charger shouldn't break the magnetic piece should come out, that is saying something if the charger brakes instead of detaching, I don't plan on purchasing a 100$ plug for an old mac that probably is only worth double the price of the plug. NOT PLEASED APPLE.

never lasts long maybe 2 months at max

in 3 years with mac books we have gone through endless apple 60w magsafe power adapters the latest again snapping and sparking at both ends of the cable. Basically my advice is never move your charger lead. Keep it plugged in one place. Just bought a non original charger from ebay and fried my mac book. Never do that.

    Poor Charger Quality

The wire near the magnetic connector has manage to fall apart. The wire is now exposed. The price is much for not lasting the lifetime of the MacBook. For the price of the product you would expect a non faulty product.

    Worst Charger Of All Time

I take good care of my electronics, chargers included, and this is now the third time I have had to replace this particular product. I have a MacBook Pro from 2011 - with my previous computer, a MacBook I purchased in 2008, one charger lasted me almost three years. On top of that, it costs $80? Seriously? For an obviously faulty product, if the rating it gets from other Apple users is any indicator of its quality, or lack thereof. Please consider either modifying this design, or reducing its absurd price.

    Unfit for purpose

The quality of the power adapter is absolutely disgusting. The rubber casing for the charging cable has perished and wires are now exposed, this makes this product unsafe and dangerous. From reading other reviews on this website it seems that many other apple customers are dissatisfied with the quality of the power adapter. Apple should repair the known faults with the chargers.

    Shame on you, Apple.

It is just sad that a company like Apple creates such cheap and bad products. I've always supported with pride Apple's overpriced products because of its quality and durability, but the fact of having to buy 2 new chargers in less than a year leaves me completely dissapointed. I'm afraid I will have to start to disapprove Apple's name with all my acquaintances and move on to another company for all my family's gadgets.

really bad design REALLY BAD APPLE, Hello??????????????

Two MB Pro 13's - Two broken MagSafe Power Adapter wires...both of them right where the wire meets the connector...Brought the first one to Apple and they said there was no recall on this type. So I threw it away. I'm sure I should have saved it...Then the MagSafe Power Adapter for my wife's MB did the exact same thing, the wire covering split so I put some shrink wrap on it...helped for a little while until... last night, it started sparking where the wire goes into the white box (wire covering is split there too) and could have started a fire so my daughter yelled to me and I unplugged it. Dead. Off to the Apple Store for them to tell me sorry, and I guess I'll have to spend another $80...

    Bad Quality

Your laptop only works if it has power. Maybe there should be more emphasis on the quality of the power supply. I have had more problems than I want to say. I replace this product about once a year.

    Worn out rubber within months

Lordy Apple you have to do something about these adapters! I'm on my third in two years and I am the most careful user you can imagine! First the little crack near the L pin, then the tear, you tape it up, you tape it some more… alas it's all over!
At well over a hundred bucks a pop you KNOW you are screwing us when they cost only a few dollars to produce. So come on, listen to the millions of complaints and get your act together!
Oh and by the way the same goes for all your chargers!

Now I'm depressed. My power adaptor cord just split, exposing wires, and won't work anymore, so I went online and ordered another despite all the horrible reviews. But what are the options? I replaced my old MacBook last year and the adaptor that came with it cracked in two places and started sparking after a few months. I thought it was a fluke. So I dug up my old adaptor and it worked just fine, even though it's now 6, 7 years old. I don't mind it finally cracking open, since I got good use out of it. But I don't want to have to keep replacing the darned thing every few months like so many people here! The older adaptor was sturdier and easy to coil. The new adaptor is flimsier and flops like a fish when you try to coil it. I already know it won't last long. Apple, mistakes happen. Your customers will forgive you. But ONLY if you CORRECT the PROBLEM.

On my third adapter in one year

This adapter is terrible, I am on my third one this year. At $80, this is getting ridiculous. Will be my last Mac laptop.

Having to purchase a new one after 12 months is very disappointing.
Given that Apple lead the way on technology why not resolve this problem for customers. Its worse as Apple are charging so much for a replacement.

Not as bad as all that

In my experience this charger has been pretty solid. I broke mine after a year of abuse (running it over with chairs, dropping it), bought a dodgy replacement that nearly set alight, then borrowed my friends 5 YEAR OLD charger for 4 months. Fair enough, they are delicate, but they really aren't as fragile as people seem to think. I also think 90% of problems on here stem from faulty SMC devices in the notebooks themselves- Mine went a bit haywire, but I reset it and it works fine- Minus the battery damage my Imitation charger caused :(

Not sure what everyone's talking about..

I've had my charger for my mac pro 2010 since I bought it in the fall of 2010 and it's worked fine all along. It's a matter of transporting the charger using the horns to wrap the cord around the adapter and treating it with care, as if it's an extension of the laptop itself at all times. The only reason why i'm here is I believe it's run it's course and I'm in the market for replacement 3 years after I got it.

    It's okay

I've had this product for over two years. It's the same one that came in my macbook pro box. Just be sure to take good care of it and don't have it plugged into an outlet for too long because you'll just be draining the power on the battery. The whole product is very fragile and I'll admit that in the two years I've owned this, I've gotten wears and tears but nothing electrical tape can't fix. I only wish this wasn't so expensive because I'll need to buy a new one soon. $80 is a bit hefty..

Fed up with this inferior product

There seems to be a common theme here, these products are substandard compared to the high quality of the laptop.

Mine has packed up after a year of use where the thinner cable leaves the many transformer body.

I work from home so it's just typically daily use that has done for it.

Really need to make these more rugged, it seems like there is a total design flaw, they shouldn't be breaking down this regularly, leaves a sour taste after having invested so much in the overall product.

    Reliability is shocking!

Got this with my MacBook Pro a few months ago and it has already stopped working, the same situation with my old mac, went through 4 of them. Apple needs to sort this out as my patience is wearing thin.

Power cord for my Mac Air

I love my mac air! I dislike the power cord! I am about to buy another power cord going on my THIRD?! I know its not me now by all these comments but also after I replaced it the first time i knew it not me because I didn't coil it, it stays in one place and it still ripped and exposed the wires.

Like everyone else, my laptop is fine, just about to purchase my third charger. The first one, the wires became exposed and then stopped working this second one just stopped working this morning for no apparent reason. At $80 the chargers need to be better lasting. I've only had my MAC for 18 months. Right now I'm trying really hard to remember why I made the switch because none of my PC's chargers ever broke, and lasted me at least 4 YEARS each.
