    AWFUL

Apple should be ashamed about how bad their chargers are. If they were $40 and broke ALL THE TIME then fine. but $80? total rip off. They should at least offer a discount if you send in your broken one to prove you didn't just lose it but the poor craftsmanship failed.

    Poor Quality, Can Be Dangerous.

I have a late 2008 MacBook 13" Unibody, and I have been through 3 of these 60W chargers. 2 have come apart at the same spot (near the plug that goes into the Macbook) and when they come apart the wiring is showing so I have had to cover with electrical tape to make it some what safe. On the 3rd one, same spot came apart AND towards the brick it came apart and started smoking. Poor Product , Poor Quality, and a Fire Hazard.

    needs more durability

I have spent more money on replacing the adapter/power cord than the computer itself! After several attempts to try to stop my critters from chewing on the cords they still do it (including sprays). Perhaps make the cord a bit more durable or at least provide an option for customers to help protect the loooooong cords.

    disappointed

Going on our 5th charger since our purchase in 2009. Great laptop, terrible charger. For the price of them and the quality, I won't be buying anymore from apple. I think I will take my chances with a chinese knockoff. They are half the price and will probably last twice as long. Please Apple, listen to your customers and fix this issue. I love your products, just not your macbook magsafe adapter.

    Terrible.

While my macbook was under apple care, i didn't mind if the adapter broke ( though it only happened twice). Now i am going onto my 4th year with my macbook, no longer under apple care and as a student apples price for their adapter is way too high. the product itself isn't even durable.

    power adapter

This would be my third adapter in 1 1/2 year. It does not last and overpriced. Disappointed.

    Unreliable

I love my Macbook Pro, but am sick of needing to replace the Magsafe chargers. I am now on my third one. The first began to fray and stopped working after around a year of use, the L shaped bracket on the second one fell off last week! At £70 per time, customers should be able to expect far better from this product.

3rd power adapter in a year

I would give this product a Zero star if it were possible. I am just getting ready to get yet another power adapter for my Mac Air that is just over 1 year old. Ridiculous that a company such as Apple cannot respond to the problems of their customers with their products. This might explain the lowering Apple's value as a top company. I read that the power adapter problem has people moving to other computers. Get with it Apple!

    Junk

Like others have said they only last about a year. I have gone through two now, about to order my third.

    I have gone thru 3 since 2009

Extremely poor design. It frays and then creates a shock which creates a power surge and then shuts down my computer. This is very dangerous. I think this has caused my monitor to break. Shame on you Mac for not fixing this problem. I am heading down to the Apple store yet again for another charger. Of course I can't get an appointment until tomorrow, so my biz is shut down till then. That PC is looking pretty good about now. Writing this on a PC right now.

Way over Priced for lasting less than a year!

This is my third adapter in three years. At $80 a pop, I'd really think Apple would have a better product. Love my Macbook Pro, but HATE buying these cords so frequently! They need a warranty! Wait, no, Apple just needs to create a better cord.

    be aware

Be very cautious when using it, as it is extremely delicate and the cord will break easily. Had to buy a new one recently, so be sure to handle it carefully. I think the design is so flawed it's ridiculous.

Must wrap your cord if traveling with charger

Since 2009, I have broken 3 of these adapters and I am now on my 4th. Apple had no sympathy and never replaced under warranty so 79.00 x 3 = $237 + tax. So I asked a worker at the apple store last time I replaced my adapter. He told me that you must wrap the cord around those nubs that pull out. If you do not do this, the cord twists and binds which puts high tension on the cable attachments. So now I do it every time and it hasn't broken since. Unless you want to waste money like i did, WRAP YOUR CORDS! Apple won't tell you these things unless you learn the hard way. Learn from my mistake please.

    Very disappointing and frustrating..

Have had my MagSafe power cord about 1.5years and it has worked fine, however it has now started playing up, sometimes working and sometimes not which has become increasingly frustrating.. The cord is covered by my AppleCare plan, however the service centre will not replace it without sending my laptop in to be tested at the same time which will take over a week. As I use my laptop for work I cannot be without it for this long and know the problem is the power cord and not the laptop as have tested it in a friends cord and it always works..

Really disappointed with this service and the quality of this part, especially given the cost of the laptop ($2500) plus the cost if the AppleCare plan.. Has left me with a sour taste towards apple..

    Unhappy customer..

    Lasts and works great

Still have the original that came with my 2010 MB Pro. It has survived countless times tripping on the cable and being yanked and being stomped and everything my 2-year old can throw at it. Whatever these others are experiencing is probably related to the electrical in their abode or abuse.

    Overly Fragile

I'm on my 3rd of these for my Macbook Pro. The original one and now its replacement have each broken at one end of the thin DC wire that runs from the adapter body to the Macbook. The 1st one broke at the adapter end; its more recent replacement at the magsafe plug end.

After my experience with the original cable breaking, I was sure to treat its expensive replacement carefully, but it still broke after approx 18months of use.

The thin cables on these products are not built stringly enough to withstand ordinary day to day use. Apple has already faced a class action lawsuit in the USA about this issue, but its liability does not extend to the UK, so I'm faced with yet buying another expensive replacement (currently GBP65).

I have had to buy 4 chargers in the 4 years i have had my computer. Apple needs to redesign these.

Lucky if it lasts a year

I've had several now for one macbook. Very frustrating and way too expensive considering how long they last. Apple seriously needs to address this.

    Don't Last!

Like many others this is my 5th power cord, for the price they are poor quality, but it seems to be the only option.
