    Just incredibly bad

wires come apart from the head easily, without any intence to pull it. Only a short period of time you'll find that the light on the head isn't on any more. First time I thought it was because I didn't use the long cort; there was too much stretch. But the new one was off one day too, there is no way to say I gave it stetch no more. It must be the problem in the design.

    Restating what's already been said

The power adapters stink for macbooks. Just like everyone else is saying, they do not hold up to a year of wear and tear nor are the replacements cheap. If technology is designed to break in less than 2 years, make replacements cheaper. This is my 4th one now in 4 years. Step it up Apple or I will not be buying another laptop from you anytime soon.

This product should last, it simply should not fail after two years of service. I feel ripped off. If you go to the mac community you will see that this problem is a common one. Bad job Mac, bad job.

    piece of junk

This adapter is insanely overpriced, and falls apart. the wire soon becomes exposed with normal use and it will need to be replaced. Apple seriously needs to redesign these.

Not even in a year, and my Macbook air adapter/charger has already been broken. Normally it would be slightly bent, and i would have to hold the adapter in a position for it to charge. $80 for replacement is just ridiculous.

Does not work well with cases

In addition to the fact that these chargers have a short life span, the new plug design does not allow the charger to work well when you are using a case (hard shell one) on your macbook.
It takes a bit of readjusting to get it to get proper connection for charging. The alluminum bar peice gets in the way. And even when you have it connected it gets disconnected with the slightest movement.

For the pros: the more durable cable lining is nice.

    Bad experience

I've had 3 of these since I bought my MacBook in 2008. I have to say that it's due either to its very poor design or just to my clumsiness. Too overpriced for the bad quality of these $90 babies in my opinion.

Not bad but way too expensive

I've had my adapter since 2008 and was pretty upset when it stopped working. Imagine my surprise to find that everyone has issues with this. I'm just glad that mine lasted 4 years versus having to purchase one every year. I like the adapter...I have to if I want my computer to charge. It does get a little hot but it does the job. $80 is just way too much though. I'll take my chances with a knock-off.

Apple likes to take your money.

My charger stopped working a while back and I didn't want to spend $80 on a new charger... Because that seems a little ridiculous. I cut my charger wire and taped it back together a few times to get it working again, that seemed to work for awhile until it starting sparking and making noises. So now, I guess i'm forced to buy one of these over priced chargers that are clunky & fragile, also I expect that it is not going to last long before it breaks. These chargers are the only option given to us, and we need them. So Apple continues to squeeze as much money as possible out of their loyal customers.

Apple really needs to read all these reviews and develop a new more durable charger with a slim design that is also a little lower in price.

    horrible adapter

my macbook pro is just approaching 2yrs old and i'm already on my 2nd adapter which is now malfunctioning/defunct so will be buying my 3rd one in less than 2yrs shortly. can't figure out what is wrong with these things - if it's in the cable itself or in the adapter port on the mac. wish they'd release a better one?!

    Exremely frustrating!

I like many other reviewers have been the victim of multiple power adapter failures. I too love my macbook pro but this issue of the power adapter repeatedly failing, after nothing but extreme care, is unacceptable. The $80 replacement cost is something apple needs to address if they want to remain a top computer supplier and retain customers. We pay higher initial prices for the MAC product in order to NOT continuously dish out another $80 a couple times a year for something that should have no issues.

This is a shame, totally worthless!

I'm giving one star as none or negative is not available. Great idea but executed poorly. Third one in two years. Cables snap like straws. Last one had more stiff cable. The only difference was that is was more annoying. USE THICKER CABLE APPLE! It doesn't to be a "looker" it needs to be a working horse! OR make a battery top up wireless? Induction....?

    Piece of ****

For something that lasts for 5 months, you'd think it would not be priced at 80 dollars. I will have to buy a second magsafe because the first one I bought has started to malfunction again. That's 160 dollars for two magsafes that has only lasted a year and a half. If I could give this zero stars I definitely would.

    The worst

I have just bought my 3rd adapter after the previous 2 died. I would argue that an adapter is not an item, say like a battery, which you would expect to wear out so quickly. I really like my Mac but can I really justify spending so much on the computer then having to buy a new adapter every year?

Does its job .. for a while.

My power cables for devices far older than my 3-year-old Macbook are still going strong (after much worse abuse), yet I am already on my third MagSafe Adapter and I may be needing to get a fourth (my third is no longer charging either). After my first one broke, I took great care to handle the adapter gently; not to pull or wind too tight, etc. But each has broken without any visible indication as to the reason why. At $80, this is completely and utterly unacceptable. I am honestly embarrassed for Apple, and as a customer very frustrated.

    Absolute rubbish.

Despite the nifty design, these are poorly made and almost guaranteed to fail after a few years. Then you will be stung by the $89 replacement price to begin the experience again. I might try the imitation rip offs on eBay instead. Couldn't be much worse.

    Don't understand!

Why all the bad reviews? I have a Mid-2010 13" MBP and my 60W Power Adapter hasn't had a hint of problem. I doubt there would be a difference between the one in the MBP box with these!

This thing is terrible and it is expensive

In the past 3 months, I have been through 3 power adapters. These things cannot stand the stress of being brought back and forth from work to home each day. With the amount of money they cost, I would expect apple to provide a better product.

Worse Part of owning a Mac

These chargers are absolutely terrible. Everyone always asks me why i take such care in wrapping my power chord and I always tell them that it's made of glass. I've had to replace it 3x in the past five years, and I don't know why I keep on doing it. Apple doesn't sell each part separately so I have a nice collection of the thick power chords to go along with them. Apple should seriously look into redesigning a charger that pretty much hasn't changed since I got my first mac, and the fact that they still only last about one and a quarter years is just ridiculous seeing how they're $80 a pop. I was relieve to see that I'm not the only one with this frustration but then it almost angered me that Apple hasn't listened to their customers' outcries about a terribly made product.

    Very Very poor

My girlfriend and I have, between us, been through a total of 5 cables this year. They work for a ridiculously short time, and then suddenly off goes the LED, and the laptop doesn't charge anymore. Cable rendered useless.

As Apple has a monopoly on producing Macbook-compatible power cables, the least they could do is ensure that my £65 (cost of a replacement) goes towards a functional product. I never had this problem with my old iBook, so why should I have this problem with the newer Macbook Pro?
