This is my 2nd Power adapter

The first adapter was more stable at the connection to the computer. Apple changed the connection unit to the computer. The first problem I had was in a different spot. I was under warranty then. The connection from the thin cord to the part you plug into the computer is flimsy. Half the time when I plug it in, the green light does not come on. Then it comes on but does not change to amber to charge the computer. Sometimes, if I wiggle the cord around, it will work. Did they get this adapter from China? I do not want to spend $80 for a new Power Adapter!

10+ chargers in less than 2 years between 3 people.

they need to totally redesign these, wires need to be thicker, more solid, less flimsly 'cute', magnets work great, but make port bigger and deeper. PROBLEM SOLVED.

    Apple 85W MagSafe Power Adapter

All the negative reviews are spot on. After 12 months of usage (with care) our power adapter started to fail. Now I will have to fork over $79 for a new one that might only be
good for another 12 month or less? What a piece shoddy product. I hope they re-design
this thing before my third purchase.

    Error of design in L-connector

Same story for me, the power adapter last 8 months, the wires are loosen inside of the L-connector, I'm thinking in replace it for a chinese imitation that surely last the same by one third of the price. very disappointed.

    another victim

After some normal usage mine started crapping out on me. Then I checked the price for a new one and my jaw hit the floor. 80 for a piece of junk that will likely break in a year. Happened to my wife's, happened to mine... this is a major pitfall with buying a macbook.

    Great Charger

I have several of these chargers ( we have 4 different mac books) and they have all been great. I move around the house a lot and therefore move my charger and I must say...I'm not very graceful and have dropped it many times. It continues to work fine. Two of them I've had for almost a year and a half. I sent two out to my daughter for her older mac book who lives in another state and she has had no issues with hers. I would recommend this charger without hesitation.

    Breaking from normal use

I'm rather disappointed in the quality of this cord. Breaking after only 5 months of usage is unacceptable to me. The computers and ipods have warrantees i wish the cords did because they are not designed for a laptop. If you do buy this cord be extremely gentle and baby it because if u just use it, it breaks!

    Piece of ****

I warn everybody who plans to buy this product, or even buy a mac that needs this product, this charger ended up failing after less than a month. I have never had a ****ier piece of mac equipment in my life, and since it's the only power source for any macbook I need to buy another one. I assure you Mac, I will never buy a macbook of any kind again. If I can't charge the stupid computer, there is simply no point. Total waste of hard-earned money.

    Durability needs addressing

I recently bought my third power adapter in three years for my macbook pro after the chords on the previous frayed and failed at the connector. Apple recently changed the design of the connector head to address the fraying issue, but after a mere three months of normal use the plastic sheath on the wire is already beginning to tear at the connector. Based on some of the other reviews I've read, I'm not the only one who's had this problem. For $79 dollars, this charger fell well short of my expectations in terms of durability.

    Absolute garbage

For $80 I expect quality. After the price that I payed for my laptop, Apple should be giving me free chargers for life considering that I have to replace them every six months or so due to terribly poor engineering. It's insulting that Apple treats their customers this way.

    Not good enough

Yes, as a consumer you can clearly tell Apple has changed the power cord, but it didn't change the issue. I had to buy this cord less than a year ago due to my old one fraying, and here I am again with the same issue. The outer layer has split in 4 different places causing major fraying. Apple you come up with genius ideas all the time. HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO MAKE A POWER CORD THAT DOESN'T FRAY!?!

    AWFUL

I literally purchased this charger/ power adapter 3 months ago. There is no tear, my computer is for personal use and I only use it once I get home. In other words the cable is never disrupted and is never under any type of friction. It DOESN'T charge my computer anymore. I have to wiggle it for atleast 15-20 mins to get it to charge & heaven forbid if it slightly moves it goes back to being unresponsive. I can't tell you how upsetting it is to know that I have to buy another one and that chances are it'll do the same thing.

I LOVE my APPLE, but they seriously need to find a way to fix this problem, it's not right!!

    FML -__-

I bought my Macbook Pro almost five years ago; the adapter that came with it ended up needing to be replaced this past January. I picked up a replacement, despite having read the reviews. Because of the price, I made it a point to be extremely careful in handling this cable. Needless to say, after six months the replacement will not charge...the thing still looks BRAND NEW!!!! Now, I am back in the Apple handing over another 79 dollars for a cable that should be able to handle the rigors of being plugged in and disconnected! Oh, and the icing on the cake? I went in to get the new magsafe adaptor and found out my replacement battery needs to be replaced after only 8 MONTHS of use!!!!! I envy people with PCs that hardly ever have to deal with such ridiculous issues!!!!

    Third one in 2 years :-( ....

I agree with the other reviews here. These power cords are faulty and need to be redesigned. I love my Mac Book Pro and take care of everything I own (Still running a 2G iPhone along with my iPhone 4, both in perfect condition), but for the life of me I cant get these power cords to last. If someone at Apple is reading these reviews, please do something about it. All your products are designed for an awesome customer experience, but these power cords taint that significantly.

    Not durable!

I love my MacBook Pro, but the power cord needs improvement. The cord is very thin, which is aesthetically pleasing, however, it's not very durable. I have only had it for a little over a year, and I've taken good care of it, but now I am having to wiggle it, and figure out which crazy position it will work in today. It's VERY disappointing, to see how much a new cord costs, after spending so much on my computer, knowing it may only last another year! You would think they would come up w/ a better solution, especially after seeing how many people are unsatisfied w/ this product!

    Overpriced, inherently faulty

First adapter: Non-L-connector 85W Magsafe. Time before failure: One year.
Second adapter: L-connector Magsafe. Time before failure: Four months.
Time before I get my replacement adapter: TEN DAYS.
    UNACCEPTABLE!
They have you right where they want you, and while their laptops may be premium (disputable), their power bricks most CERTAINLY are not.

The cord is too thin and breaks

I've gone through several magsafe and pre-magsafe (white brick) adapters over the past 7-8 years. Every one has broken due to a damaged cord. A few have given off sparks. The Magsafe connector itself is fine but the cords are too thin. Over time the wiring starts to fray and eventually short circuits. At least with the older adapters there were 3rd party alternatives. With magsafe I have no choice so I have to keep replacing them. These really need a redesign.

    Don't like design

These newer ones that run along side the computer are so annoying. Because it runs along it, it makes plugging in anything annoying. I have a case on my MacBook so I can only plug in this new power cord in ONE DIRECTION which then partially blocks other plug ins. I can only have power or internet plugged in at one time because the two block each other out.

Same with USB ports. I feel like I'm already beginning to stress the fraying process because the power cord has to bend in order to allow USB's to be plugged in.

I could take my case off my computer, but then what's the point of having one if I have to take it off all the time.
