    Just make it better

I just bought my 3rd charger because the other ones are broken. And as you know, they are FAR from free, or even fairly priced compared to what I get. I just want to let you know that this was, honestly, the last Apple product I will ever buy. It is not only because these ridiculously expensive chargers, which is constructed to break, even if I handle it as new born baby. I have an idea. What if Apple uses some of the $203+ billion you have just lying around in Braeburn Capital, and invest and develop a decent charger with a more robust cord? If the cable isn't meant to be slightly bent, don't make it a cable, make it as a solid pipe instead.

    A beautiful con

I am up to my 3rd excuse of a charger now, this one has lasted almost a year before going brittle and fraying at the computer end and exposing live wires that electrocute those around. It never leaves the bedroom and is treated very carefully, yet it still self destructed. Every day is a gamble with this charger, and I cannot afford to keep paying for a new purposely ill designed product. This is next to replacement ink cartridges as far as cons go. Very disappointing from apple.

The QUALITY isn't worth the MONEY.

I've had a 15" Macbook Pro since December of 2010. Every year, I had to spend roughly $75-$100 (price changes occurred over the years) for a new one. Some time between the 9th or 10th month of having the charger, the chord starts to melt and wires get exposed. Apple, your customers shouldn't be spending $100 every time their charger breaks. It is ridiculous. I've pretty much spent about $500 worth of chargers. Apple, which I'm sure is a BILLION dollar company, you need to fix this problem.

    Quality is terrible

Paid 85GBP in London UK for a new 85 watt power adapter in April of 2015 because I thoughtlessly left mine behind. Now, 8 months later the power cable gets hot and starts to melt. I unplug it and peel back the melted insulation and find that the outer braided conductor has completely frayed just beyond the support plastic (you know, where the cable bends when you wrap it around the power brick).

Apple makes great notebooks and terrible power bricks.

    Terrible Terrible Terrible

I'm now on my 5th charger - Across two Macbook pros. We have a stack of dead chargers in the office cupboard. From the new MacBooks and the old ones to -- One of them caught fire at the cable end near the laptop when it ruptured and sparked !

Apple - Do you have NO - I mean ZERO concern for the environment - ? or is it your intention to SELL 5 chargers per MACBOOK you sell > !

Make the cable that breaks either designed so it does not break, terrible industrial design - OR - Make it replaceable like the power cord. How hard can that be !

Its a terrible - not to standard product from Apple - (I would give zero stars if possible)

    Three Plus Years Strong

I own two of these, the one that came with my MBP and the one I bought the same day in June 2012. Never an issue with either one. MagSafe has saved my laptop more than once thanks to pets and kids.

    Worst Apple product I've used

This charger is a perfect example of bad industrial design because the cord frays with normal use, even with the utmost care and the cord is designed so that it is not replaceable even when the block itself is still useful. Why Apple didn't design the cord to be as interchangeable as the plug I cannot understand. This is a flawed design that is not up to Apple standards and Apple has plenty of time to change it. Very disappointed in this product.

    So frustrating

I love apple products, they are so durable and dependable, all except for the freaking cords!! I'm now in the process of having to purchase my 4th cord in the last 3 years, and honestly I could've done with this new one for about a year now. I'm a poor student who simply cannot afford to spend this much money on a cord once a year. Get it together Apple!

    Bad design, cable frays

After all these bad reviews, still no change in design. In general Apple has the worst design for leads and wires on Mac, iPhone, as well as iPad chargers. I am about to order my third charger, with moderate to light use. It's not one of the top 50 companies for nothing..... It makes a lot of revenue on accessories, which always cost more than the average product out there. I would be happy if I got value for money on these accessories. I love my Mac, but hate the charging leads....

    Worst Charger Ever!!

I am writing this as my computer is on 11% and about to die because this stupid charger messed up on me for the 3rd time in 4 years. I really need the computer to run my business so I will be forced to buy this over priced sad excuse of a charger. Apple can easily make a more durable battery, but they purposely make it fragile so it stops working and we are forced to buy a new one yearly. This will be my last Apple computer!

Buying yet another due to frayed cord

As reviews say over and over, cord frays, these don't last, they're expensive for a disposable item.
Compared to power adapters for other powerful laptops I've had these are exceptionally light and easy to carry, and the mag attachment is awesome. That's why some stars.

Notice how "most useful" reviews shown are 5-star? How deceptive is that! Its like Apple wants us to hate them.

    Design is flawed

This is the 2nd Power Adapter that I've had to purchase (in addition to the original back in '08). The reason I've had to purchase multiple is that the point where the cable from the Mac to the adapter meet regularly weakens and until wires become exposed, frayed, and eventually don't connect properly. Apple really ought to look into designing a better adapter.

    Wires are not strong enough

I need to wiggle my cords every time to make charger work. I am just disappointed in Apple to produce such a low quality and expensive adapter. I beg apple to make wired more stronger.

    Poor engineering

I have an Early 2011 Macbook Pro. I remember the old adapters used to come apart right at the connection piece closest to the computer. While that problem seems to be solved, I think Apple didn't research cord outer composition well. Recently the outer cable sheathing basically just started splitting starting at the computer end. Similar to a "dry rot" type of failure. hard and brittle which implies heat induced. Very poor materials engineering.

You're losing customers because of this

I will never buy another Apple product. It would be easy for you to design a charger that doesn't fall apart (other companies don't seem to have trouble here), yet you don't. Why? Because you want people to have to spend money replacing them. Good riddance, Apple.

For this price, you'd expect something durable

This adapter that came with my 17-inch MacBook Pro, and it is now useless because the cable frayed by the adapter. After speaking with several other MacBook owners, I found that fraying at this exact spot is extremely common. At $80 a pop, it seems like a racket. I love Apple products, but why can't they make a durable cable?

    Bad and expensive

The 2nd charger broke today. The first one's cable burned, this one just stopped working for no reason within 4 months of buying it. 85$ for a charger that breaks faster than a cheap knock-off, SHAME.

My third adapter after 4 years.

Strangely, my adapters seem to stop working after 2 years. So this is my third adapter. I am a meticulous person and very careful with all my equipment. But the cable broke close to the power adapter who then stopped working. Expensive adapter when you think that it never happened to me with other brands.
