    Absolutely terrible quality

I have to agree with other reviewers. I need a new one only after one year. Why Apple has made chargers into a consumable? It is truly surprising how bad the quality of this product is.

Wires exposed in less than a year

My experience is the same as the others. My wires are exposed near the connection point. This happened very suddenly. I use my Air at home only and the cord is not wrapped up, so not sure how it happened. I have had no problem with the power, however, believe it is a fire hazard. The white casing around the wire is now a nice light brown color around the break. Very, very poor job on Apple's part. Fix it please!

    second time replacing

First off, LOVE my Macbook Air. But this powercord is terrible. This is the second time the rubber has come off exposing the wires underneath causing it to stop working. After taping the powercord together in hopes of making it last another month or two (to no avail), I'm about to hit "purchase" and spend yet another $80.

I love Apple products and want to love Apple as a company. But Apple is taking advantage of my loyalty. Not by creating a bad powercord, but by a) not acknowledging they created a bad powercord, and b) making me pay $80 twice (and counting) to keep it running.

    Very poor

After *just* over a year (of course) the charger no longer works. How can the extortionate cost of a new one be justified? Shame on you, Apple

    Expensive loco

Very expensive, gets disconnected all the time, sorry but this was poorly designed. Apple just maintained the esthetic character, but forgot about the functionality.

Im sorry but this Loco muy loco y Malo

    Failed Power Cord. Poor Design.

Like most other reviewers, the wires in my 45W MagSafe Power Adapter for my 2011 MacBook Air started to come out of the very thin power supply wire after a mere ten months of use and now must be replaced. Because my laptop is 19 days out of warranty, Apple has refused to replace my power adapter. I love using Apple products but, clearly, this power adapter has a faulty design, and Apple has put forth no effort in solving the customer satisfaction problem for those of us who have "new" laptops that are "out of warranty." An Apple-designed power cord, regardless of the cost, should last more than ten months.

    Very disappointed!

    Wire wrapping failed

The rubber cable sheath has failed after 12 months of home use. Wires are exposed. Now I have to replace it for 80 bucks? Terrible. Only Apple product failure that I have ever encountered.

    Very frustrating

I plug it in and sometimes the light goes on and it is charging, and sometimes it doesn't. For no apparent reason it will or won't charge, and I get progressively more anxious as the battery icon gets lower and lower. I noticed on the newer MacAir computers there is a different connection. I wish I could get it for my two year old MacAir, but the person in the store said the new one will not work on my older machine.

    MBA 45W Charger

Really poor quality. I have had 3 in 4 years. Spring loaded pins fail, and the most recent one had a stress fracture in the cable. All fine if you live in London and can go buy another for the not great price gbp65, but when you are in Africa, a dead charger = dead laptop.

    We're ANGRY!

Can we give this no star? This product does not last, and now my boyfriend and I take turns buying the adapter every month. I guess it's your turn, darling.

    The cord breaks

I've owned an ibook for 6 years and changed the cord once. This cord though, very badly built. Mine is broken on 2 different parts, and I expect it will soon stop working. However careful I am with this cord, I mean it's a computer, the connection with the actual compute is where it breaks at this point because of the way it's made. Why doesn't it work like the older macbooks. I think these new versions are meant to break down. Disappointed in this product.

    Mine Failed Too

I thought it was just me until I saw the reviews on this power adapter. Mine just stopped after 13 months. What a shame. I've been so happy with the 11 inch Air. Great computer. I've owned a lot of PCs over the years, and this is the first time in my life that a power adapter has failed. It looks like I'm not alone. Shame on you Apple!

    The cord will fail

I had my MBA 2011 (late) for 4 months before the cord just stopped charging the laptop. Now, after 1.5 years it has completely stopped. My MBA battery works great and my brothers new charger that came with his laptop charges my laptop fine, I can safely say (just like everyone else) this charger is terrible and will fail you.

    Power adapter

Have owned Mac Air for 3 years ..have replaced power adapter every year...now $80... Breaks at connection between the power body and where cord exits....you would think given Apples amazing engineering they would have come up with a better design...come Apple you can do better...don't become mediocre like Microsoft!

    Junk

Okay, so I'm not allowed to write more than a handful words, so let's summarize:

Breaks after 9 months. No yanks, no pulls, only domestic use. Piece of flimsy junk.

    Only lasted five months

Five months after a new macbook air purchase the power adapter wire coating split open and it wouldn't charge... no green light. I had to have it immediately and the apple store is over an hour away... so in desperation my husband cut the wire and fixed it with some wire nuts and taped it back together. Now it is U G L Y but it works. I can already see where the wire in other places is bulging out and looks like a split is about to happen again.

When is Apple going to fix this?

Wish I had read these reviews before I bought my MacBook Air. Computer is just one month out of warranty and the power cord is already shot.

    Looks nice but fails fast

I like the design. A lot. It's light, always fits in your bag and it's magnetic. However, after 13 months of usage (that is, charging my Air maybe like 20 times because my Thunderbolt screen does the charging mainly) it failed.

I've treated it with a lot of care, because I know how fragile these things are. But this is kinda ridiculous. I'll make sure it gets replaced for free, warranty or not. It's just so disappointing that it's going to take me a lot of talking just to get what I paid for.

    Disappointed!

$80 for a new charger, you got to be kidding me -___- I've had my Macbook Air for almost a year and I can't believe the adapter has already broken. I thought it was just me until I read the reviews. Shame shame shame.
